  1. Having breakfast. Yes, at 3.30 in the afternoon, I was up til 4am.
  2. My favourite really keeps changing, I think it would be easier to note which will never be my favourites, and just alternate between the rest!
  3. Thank you I'm slowly working through the interviews and things as well, but I'm generally not replying coz I don't want to drag up old threads. Just read the Heat interview yesterday, twas very good
  4. Working on my second art contribution for the yearbook, been at it all day and it's finally just about done x_x
  5. I mentally block them out, I didn't even register they'd broken up til recently! Cheers Caz for the scans, great article.
  6. Oh! My apologies! It didn't even occur to me that people wouldn't know the expression, when OBVIOUSLY they wouldn't. Nobody even uses it any more, I just sorta say it in jest. Sorry!
  7. Okay I offically adore this song. I have it on repeat at the moment, and it just grows on you.
  8. I actually agree with most of what you're saying Caz in some ways, but I just can't read 'shame, such a beautiful, beautiful young life' to mean anything other than the other person in question, regardless of what's happened to them. (Be it walking out, or anything else.) Which is why I think it's some reflection specficially on the other person being troubled. Most of what I say is just random thoughts that occur as I go along though so it may change
  9. Oh THANK YOU! I was starting to cower from everyone not analysing! Yeah, my interpretation (no pun intended, I swear) is just that - it's what rang true with me and it's a spin I put on it that makes me really like it. I really like your idea too though, I never would have come up with it. I love how ambiguous it all is!
  10. Sorry. Mika. I don't think about lyrics written by anyone else as much.
  11. I'm done now, I swear! I'm all talked out. Until someone replies. Hee. Now I'm working on art for the yearbook, which hopefully I'll be allowed join. I found this site while looking for a fan mail address for Mika, and lo and behold I discovered there is none. So being able to contribute to a tangible tribute as it were, would be really awesome.
  12. Okay now I feel bad for over-analysing! By George I love this man though. Rarely has a music artist so provoked my little mind to contemplation.
  13. Thank you very much Silver and Sienna! I'm really loving it here and madly getting involved left right and centre haha!
  14. I like the voices in your head theory, but what about when he says, 'but Doctor I'd never hurt ya, isn't it obvious?' why would he said that to voices in his head, coz that's basically him saying he'd never hurt himself. Thoughts?
  15. Oh yeah I don't expect him to release By The Time, I just think it would be a great choice if he did. Also, thank you! I'm flattered. I wrote a bit in the By The Time thread today, I look forward to hearing what you say Blame It On The Girls will be a very good single, it's still got more depth than a lot of what he's released as singles (not criticising anything here by the way, but most singles have a pretty obvious simple message I think, as will Rain.) Dr John would be awesome also, due to the change in style in it. Naturally I also think Toy Boy would be brilliant as a single, but that would never happen
  16. I definately think releasing By The Time would be an interesting if not clever move - it's one of the best songs on the album in my opinion, it's heavier than some of the others and would show a side of Mika which I think tends to remain on the album and thus generally seen only by people who are already his fans. Plus, if he did a video for it and teamed up with Imogen to film it, I think it would attract attention, because Imogen and Mika are vocally and musically actually very suited, but it's certainly not a link I would have immediately made. So I think it would make non-Mika fans stop and go 'oh hey, what now?' and listen to it, and thus his other material too. I think.
  17. This album is about his adolescence, and he said himself the content is much darker than his original album. Lyrics in (bold brackets) I'm still thinking it through, but I definately think it's about someone who after being used and abused by other men (a trail of clothes, two years old) was relying on him emotionally, as a friend or something. I don't think this refers to anything ongoing with the storyteller himself, because he says (wasn't I allowed, three strikes and out?) which implies this was his first mistake, and shouldn't he have been allowed to make mistakes too? The mistake was letting things turn physical (but you said I could, said I could just one night), and the person left him while he was asleep, depriving him of a chance to be the (first?) person who would still actually be there the morning after (by the time I'm dreaming and you've crept out on me sleeping, tell me how am I supposed to care?), and now he's bitter and angry (you didn't give me a chance damn you) because he's slipped up and now he'll never know could he have helped them. I actually can't help but think this may be a song about suicide. Which is surprisingly dark for Mika, but the two lines (motionless remains the mess, shame, such a beautiful young life), just sound like waking up and finding a body to me. What other mess would have originally had motion? And then the whole thing ties in with 'don't wake up, won't wake up, can't wake up' which is like, not wanting to wake up (don't wake up)(and face life) not being able to wake the person (won't wake up) and finally realising they (can't wake up), and now never will. I might add that just because it reads like suicide to me doesn't mean it's actually about a suicide, it could just be a heavy image for letting someone down irreperably.
  18. Hey everyone! I'm bumping coz I iz Irish too. Howrya
  19. I'll check out that section too soo hehe!

I'm definately on the discussion sound - I met one of my idols last Thursday after a gig of his (Aussie called Tim Minchin) and I just wanted to jump on him and hug him, but we actually stood around having a chat for about 15 minutes, then the did the photos and hugs thing!

What were you doing on stage with Mika?!?! Sorry if that's really dumb question, but still!

  20. Yeah, I notice there's a combination of two groups who I would divide into 'those who want to touch Mika's hair' and 'those who want to have a discussion with him'. It's a dividing line I use for most famous people!

At first I thought this was going to be all photos and giggling girls, but there's some seriously intelligent discussion occuring in the Art & Songs forum, so me happy! :naughty:
