Radio 1 Entertainment News.

Just listening to the entertainment news o R1, and it said Mika is EVERYWHERE in the US. Natalie Jameson R1s entertainment reporter has just come back from there and was gushing about how he is on billboards and on the radio over there.

Good news that.

That's interesting. I never listen to the radio, so I don't know if his songs are ever played or not. And I don't live in a big city where I would have any chance of seeing any Mika billboards. My guess is that there might be some in just Los Angeles or New York City. And the only people I know that actually know who Mika is are people that I have personally told about Mr. M. I would love to see if anyone from a big city in the U.S. can see any signs of his increasing popularity, because where I live, he is quite unknown.

I think she's delusional! LOL! :insane:

Seriously, I'd like to know where she was that she saw him *everywhere*.

Maybe in California? Certainly not here in Washington DC).

I have yet to see any sign of him

around here, still have never heard him on commercial radio...

most of the kids I know (my son's friends and my friends' kids)

have never even heard of him until I mention him.

I WISH he were everywhere here in the US.

Actually, if he were just HERE that would be nice! :wink2:

I sure hope so, Bexx -- it just doesn't seem like it's happening yet from

where I'm sitting.

I'm in an email group of about 15 friends scattered around the US

and Canada, mostly around my age (mid- to late 40s). We have

kids ranging in age from 9 to 24. None of the women had heard of

Mika until I started talking about him and sending them links to his

videos. And TBH, none of them really care for him now that they

know about him -- "he's cute and jumps really well," is the best one

could say about him after seeing him on So You Think You Can Dance.

*sigh* Of all the offspring, only one 11-year-old girl in New York, and

one 16-year-old girl in Rhode Island had heard of Mika and actually

like his music. :(

I know that's a totally unscientific poll and completely random sampling,

but it seems to me that Mika has a way to go yet in the states.

ETA: Although they do say, slow and steady wins the race...

What is wrong with this country's musical taste??? I despair! :naughty:

I agree- I can't understand anyone who has actually watched and heard Mika perform, and doesn't automatically fall in love with his music and his voice....In fact with 'his everything'.

I really don't understand it:blink:

I think here in Quebec we felt for him because he speaks french! It's always a good think to win our hearts :biggrin2:

It's so weird that some people haven't heard of him in the u.s. yet. Me and my sister heard about him way back in April and May when we bought his cd LiCM. We love love Mika!!!

Hey, I'm curious... how did you hear about him?

I get Sirius satellite radio, which carries BBC Radio 1 and that's where I

first heard him, back in January. If it hadn't been for that, I doubt I

would ever have heard of him yet! :yikes:

So I'm just wondering how you first learned about Mika way out

there in middle America :)

Me and my sister (we're 21 year old twins) loved this cell phone commercial that was on the tv probably airing in march or april of this year and we just absolutly loved the song. It was "Love Today" so we downloaded it of itunes. I don't know why we didn't download a lot of other songs from him off itunes. Maybe we knew he had a cd out. I remember going to Barnes & Noble (bookstore/movies/music store in the u.s.) and asking a helper there if they had a Mika cd. I think we were looking in the M's for Mika instead of the L's for Life In Cartoon Motion. And I remember him coming back with a cd in his hands that was full of great color and I said "Yeah that's it." Now I'm suprised that cd isn't worn out. We love every song on there with a passion. We were staying with our grandma and aunt that week and let me tell you that was one of the best weeks of my life!

My parents are on holiday in NYC and New England these next two weeks - I will ask my Mum if she saw any sign of Mika when they get back. From what you all say it will be a bit of a miracle if she does!

I actually don't think it's a bad thing Mika is not breaking the US too quickly. Personally I'd be happy enough if he ends up with a really strong and loyal cult following in the US/Canada, even if that takes time. But then I don't live there; if I did, I might feel differently...?

Obviously he already has a small (growing!) and loyal cult following here at MFC :naughty:

It would be great to see or hear him more here in the US. I have never heard him on the radio, even though I have tried to request various songs. I have never seen a billboard or any sign of Mika here. I heard his music play once while I was in Best Buy. Most people I know hadn't heard about him until I started talking to them about him.

I found Mika on You Tube by accident...and went out the next day to buy LICM. Five months later I still listen to it everyday. Now I get all my Mika information from MFC...thank goodness! I try to promote Mika's music every chance I get.

I hope one day to see him here. :wub2:
