’Mika recommends’- music he likes

Yes, of course, I have:wink2:

they are all in part 2. (easy to read, they are in alphaetical order.)

However, I mught change part3 - those are only supposed to be the occasional good songs he likes from other artists he otherwise does not list among his favourite ones.

Oh great:thumb_yello: I've been thinking lately and especially having been listenig carefully some of his songs from TBWKTM . LICM or some demos that Kurt Cobain had some influence on Mika lyrics and his rebellion attitude. In a pop manner of course and probably not deliberately, but Grace Kelly was treated in some music magazines as a rock song quite reasonable.:wink2:

Mika : Interview @ Japanese TV 2007

Thank you so much for this old interview :flowers2:

I might have seen it already but it was still great to watch Mika 3 years younger...:teehee:

I added the J-pop artists he named:wink2:

The category 'Songs he has ever picked as favourites' is missing a song: Under The Sea by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, from the movie The Little Mermaid. Mika used it as a piece of pre and after show music on several shows this tour. :wink2:

Alan Menken is the best Disney composer in my opinion! :fangurl:

I like Frank Chruchill and the Sherman brothers the best:wub2:

..and will add that song - I think there are many others that are missing from that list - I remember he played Faithless, too and Faithless is not mentioned among favourite artists...

And what about Charles Aznavour? He ever covered his song La Boheme in a french show and that sounded lovely:wub2:

yes, I should write that song as well in the cover versions part - together with Solitude...etc

I just need to have a list of all the songs he sang at that French tv show..

..should try to find it on YT

You know that in an interview (from 2008 I think) he mentioned that his favourite composers were Kurt Weil and Igor Strawinski. Think we had it even printed and put it away somewhere, but I'm quite sure that I saw this with my own eyes.:aah:

He often mentions Kurt Weil, but I didn't remember about Stravinsky

I did a little bit of research and found out that Mika mentioned him in Le Questionnaire de Proust à Mika -2008

and in an old interview at a French radio - 2007

here you'll find a transcript in English

You're genius Marina! That's it and I have that Questionnaire printed pretty long ago. So he mentioned Stravinsky (awww that's the spelling in English, right:thumb_yello:).

added a couple of artists he mentioned in recent Tar magazine article.

I am not sure whether to delete the songs we only listed because they were played before gigs.... Sooner or later there will be hundreds of those songs.. :dunno:

What about Fernando by Abba, Didn't he do that on Spanish tv a while back?

Fernando's was lots of fun :roftl: Though,

I'd say those are just covers he did. So it doesn't mean he "specially" likes them :wink2:

I Want To Break Free -mixed with Underpressure (Queen) with Randy the Rat :biggrin2:

La Donna e Mobile (from Rigoletto)

Great thread idea! Thanks for starting it! :flowers2:

I believe Mika likes La Roux , Gainsbourg as it was supposed to be in his ipod (from a show on French TV) I didn't have time to watch the whole show which is called "Dans le PM3 de Mika on Virgin 17" so I couln't note down all the titles and singers...maybe somebody else did on MFC?

I know his favorite singer is Barbara but I don't know which of her songs he likes better!
