England
http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2312668&postcount=212 Looks like whatever we print from the website, it's still going to be +18 only. ok, I really think mika and the venue should get in more contact with each other, it really seems like they don't know what they are doing....I'm so confused...ahh

RAK1
So now I guess we know, thanks Deb:wink2: Since the venue don't have a problem with under 18s attending, I guess it's on Mikas end. Quite why, I can't fathom! Seems ludicrous to me.
superstar
So now I guess we know, thanks Deb:wink2:Since the venue don't have a problem with under 18s attending, I guess it's on Mikas end. Quite why, I can't fathom! Seems ludicrous to me. I just called the venue, actually. Spoke with the ticketing manager. Basically, I asked if we could attend the June 23rd gig if we were under 18 but accompanied by a legal guardian. He said sure, of course, if it was a legal guardian. I then told him that we had been getting different messages from Mika's management team, that said the exact opposite. He said there was nothing in his computer about the June 23rd gig, and never would be, but the management was the top dog. He said if that's what we heard from then, then that's how it is. I asked him also if the +18 age limit was determined by the artist from venue-to-venue. He told me I could direct my questions to the email address: info@lprnyc.com He was a very nice man, and it sounds like there's a communication discrepancy between Mika's management and the venue, which would explain all of this confusion. If there's no talking Mika's management out of the age limit, then I don't think it's feasible that we could get in.

So it is down to Team Mika then. There must be something he's doing to justify it. A normal acoustic gig, wouldn't need to have this restriction. If it is just a normal gig, then this restriction is totally nonsensical!

A normal acoustic gig, wouldn't need to have this restriction. If it is just a normal gig, then this restriction is totally nonsensical! I really have no clue if it's actually Mika that put into place the age restriction. I mean, is he really going to try that hard to get rid of the "child artist" stereotype? Something's going on, I just wish I knew what it was! Like I said, there's a lot of reasons to be angry about this. I try not to get angry when there's nothing you can do, but honestly. Why would you only schedule one gig in the United States, and then cut so many fans out of the deal? You would think that he could schedule at least more than just one that's 18+. And also, all this confusion has really pissed me off. It's one thing to know that you can't go. But it's entirely another to see that maybe there's a possibility, only to be crushed again when you realize it's just a communication error. But that's the way life is. Bring on September please! I happen to have a reasonably heavy (and might I add sturdy) book that could be used to beat a certain musician's management around the head until they give an answer why I'm kidding of course... I wouldn't condone someone beating someone else around the head with a book It sucks that there are so many different answers to the under 18s issue... mikaluvr316
I was really disapointed when i read about his US tour dates. Out of the places he will perform not one of them was in Georgia!! i am so sad!!! please reconsider meex!!!!!!
DaMango
I already posted my feelings elsewhere, but I'll repeat myself in support of your thread, LOL! I can relate to your feelings of sadness and disappointment. When I was under 21, I would get so upset when a singer or band I liked would only perform casino gigs. Those venues are definitely 21+ because of the alcohol factor. At least they had a legitimate, legal reason for the age restriction. The 18+ age limit doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Alcohol must not be the issue, because the 18-20 year olds can't drink legally. And heck, even children can get into an R-rated movie with a legal guardian, why not a concert? I wonder what the logic and reasoning is behind this decision. I am very curious to know. In the meantime, my heart goes out to you all!

I don't think there's any reason that could be good enough to justify this. Even if he does this in order to give everyone at the gig a lap dance and a glass of free champagne it's not gonna make it less unfair for those who couldn't get in. And yes, in my opinion this is unfair - unlike the lack of gigs in our back yards or whatever we usually complain about
