OK, here is the translation, ihihih now I go to bed :thumb_yello:

In taking things in hand, I realized that there is a great freedom that comes after, but also a lot of work to have the freedom to do all the records I want to do. This is for all the artists and not just for me. All of us, all artists in the world, we have to find our way. As I did when I started. When I started I presented my record, my demo, as if it was an album already terminated by a record company. All finished, the visual, photography, everything. I did this to give the concept to the record company. After a while the situation changed because they are really…

[here video is cut and the discourse change, he begins talking about Popular Song's videoclip!]

I said **** I will not stand here waiting that a so big record company tell me, ok this thing goes well in this record, so do it. I said, no, I want to do this on my own and so I called all the people I know, for instance, I worked with Diadora (I think he said Diadora, I'm not totally sure :-D) to do this thing and I said it's not important if I have to do all these things to pay this video because Universal does not help me.

I made this video on my own with my manager and now this video has 37 million views, large part from USA. 37 million for one song we did on our behalf. This made me realize the power of doing the things on my own. Now I can make the album I want to. With Universal's support but without asking permission and this is the most important thing I've done in this period of my career.

Grazie mille :huglove:

It's a shame that it has been cut so much, hearing everything he said there would have been interesting.

Another article about the press conference in November, with some small parts that are not in the posted videos:

Abbiamo registrato lei in Canada e io a Los Angeles.

You welcome :thumb_yello: Here is the translation of the article above.

The "Italian" period of Mika is making many fruits. Not only the Italian public is starting to know him in X Factor, thanks to his accurate judgments and his speech seasoned with some neologism (eg choosato, calque of English word choose, instead of scelto), but he has also realized the album "songbook vol 1", published on Nov. 12 with 15 international success, of which he took care of every aspect, from the choice of songs, the arrangements revised up to the choice of the cover.

"I wanted to call it songbook because it is a concept that I like the most. I do not like "Best of", because it suggests that you close a chapter. But I do not want to close anything, it's just a collection of the pieces of the first three albums. Among a number of years I want to make a songbook volume 2 and at 85 years, I'd like to do the volume 3. This record is as if I was looking in the mirror, remembering who I was and who I am now. I started to sing classical music as a child, in this case into a Strauss's work. My primary interest has always was to do pop, but as I say. "

The English artist of Lebanese origin has very clear ideas about what he wants to do and it shows into this album also in the choice of collaborations. "Stardust is undoubtedly the most important duet. Since I saw Chiara Galiazzo taking part in X Factor 6, we stayed in touch and we wanted to make it happen straight. But to ensure that this project took shape we had to wait, because the policy of the two record companies did not make it possible. Now, finally, we succeeded. To record it we went in my studio in London and I have to admit that I like the result a lot. Stardust was born as a dance song, now become a traditional classy piece. "

On the contrary genesis of Popular Song, duet with Ariana Grande was more complicated: "at the beginning I was not very convinced. Ariana Grande comes from a teen scenery and it was not what I was looking for. Then I decided to hear her, we are contacted via Skype and I was surprised by her voice. In addition, Ariana also has a R & B album at the top of the American charts, which helped her to move from the teen scene. We recorded her in Canada and I in Los Angeles. Our video has totaled more than 37 million views on youtube and the song is going on the radio in the U.S.. It's really strange, every time I think that one thing may not appeal, the facts always belie me and does achieve success. "

Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr, this is the name of the singer in the anagrafe, has already in the pipeline the new album: "I have experimented in the past and did my own thing. Now I want to sit down at the piano and composing catchy tunes. It's what comes most naturally to me right now. Definitely the touch with the Italian music gave me interesting ideas. I started working on the next album with a young author and I made hear to him a song by Paolo Conte at speeds increased, to let him know what kind of production and sound I want. I am working with Morgan on a track with my parts in English and he has the Italian one. The result could be very particular ... if we'll finish! (laughs) Seriously, despite the fame of controversial figure I admire a lot Morgan as an artist. When he sit down at the piano is like a crazy kid who lives of music. "

As regards his adventure as X Factor judge, Mika is conscious to have on his hands the strongest category. However, he makes no bones about the strengths and weaknesses of his contestants. "Roberta has the most beautiful voice in the whole competition but she flaws in style, while Gaia is the argument opposite: she has a very original style but she needs to to reinforce the vocal part. Valentina has to fortify her stage presence while Violetta has to make her genre contemporary. But mostly, I want to prepare them for post X Factor. They must be conscious of their musical identity and say no, if they are not convinced of a song! I'm glad of the X-Factor Italia's experience and in France they called me to do The Voice! "

Finally, how is Mika in Milan? "It's a wonderful city, but it's closed. To discover it you have to turn a lot. For example, this villa (Villa Necchi, which hosts the press conference) is beautiful but it is hidden, I would not have ever discovered it! In the evening I like to go to the Navigli to get me a beer. Or I take refuge in a restaurant, whose owner is kind enough to reserve me a table. And there I can work and write. "

Go go Mika! Let me shake my pretty pom poms at you!

I didn't know that Mika himself was responsible for the PS video which has helped him so much by getting so many views!

What a lot of idiots that record company are.

Yes Mika, do your own thing. You're doing great.

Now come back and do great things in UK.
