Yes, this Tuesday, December the 18th we were at The Studio du Lendit Saint-Denis. It was The Voice 8th editon - K.O. for Mika. On this occasion Tele-Loisir slipped behind the scene to discover live this stage of the program. As a reminder: K.O. replaces “the final audition”. So what is this rule specially thought by the production ITV Studio France? After the blind auditions, Mika, Julien Clerc, Jenifer and Soprano have 18 talents in their teams. After K.O. they will have only 8. For this they must keep only six at the end of knockouts and have the opportunity to steal two in other team. During their K.O. their talents will sing one by one. At the end of each performance they analyze them and have three possibilities: qualify the talent for “the Battles”, eliminate it or send it to the “red zone” (if they have doubt). At the end of all talents' performances the coaches can decide to integrate one or more talents from the red zone to their teams for “the Battles” or eliminate them. No doubt this stage gives to the show more intensity. Maybe only few talents did not have tears in their eyes during the coach's comments, and we can understand it... The evening was decisive for their future in The Voice. Pressure, suspense, twists, moments of TV show and emotions, that's what we saw! For once, at the beginning of the adventure, the coaches make choices in relation to the talents without comparing them to each other. A very complicated process to pass through for coaches and talents. Not easy to say “no”. Nor simple to explain that dispite a golden voice, the talent will not go to “the Battles”. To help to swallow the pill Mika tries to be the most diplomatic possible. But staring straight to the eyes to a person in tears and trembling it was terrible to assume his choice; “I can see in your eyes that I am hurting you. You are not ready and I don't want to distroy you and I don't want to hurt you later” - Mika explained to one of his talents. You have to be a good psychologist in this program and that's what Mika was. On the other hand he struggled to soften the discomfort of the “red zone” - this bench in the heart of the public on which talents, who have not convinced but not totally disapponted, were waiting for their coach to decide their fate. Mika multiplied the round trips to reassure his talents. At the end of the recording the Lebanese singer was K.O.! Note that the K.O. will be broadcasted in four emissions.
