When I first read the title I thought he had asked Mika to act in the movie.....I would have found that awesome too!:mf_lustslow:

(Ps. Stupid journalist!!:sneaky2:)

Actually, Mika mentioned in one of the interviews on Radio One (on WAG Day) that he'd never star in a musical if he wrote it. He also didn't actually say he was doing one. So either it isn't true, or he didn't want to say anything till it was official.

I hope for 2nd option! Mika writing a musical would be every fan's dream come true!

This is fantastic!

And Hugh Jackman is no fool, if he didn't think Mika was up to it he wouldn't have picked him to do it. And I find it insulting that just because he's not a big name in the States, that this person thinks it was a bad choice. What, you have to be big there now to have any talent? In my opinion, they are the blind ones for not recognising it. So I hope he writes a blistering score now, and make them sit up and take notice!

The only thing that does concern me, is that it's coming now, as he's about to embark on the new album release. LICM took up most of his time in 2007/08, and with more places to tour this time, I hope he's going to pace himself.

i agree that we don't want Mika stressed if he decides to do this project. Of course he has been writing songs for years and as with Loverboy on the album, what's to stop him re-arranging songs he's written and not released yet? As long as they are songs that haven't been leaked online, I see no problem with him doing that if they fit with the musical, and if they don't he could tweak them to make them do so.

And can I also say that imo Mika is the new Barnum anyway, so his work will be perfect if he does the score!

That would be great!

Fatboy Slim does that in all his videos, he never features in them, but does have walk ons.

Except in the Christopher Walken one. That was just Chris.

"They are in talks with Mika."

That is a no way a done deal.

This project wouldn't even begin for about two to three years most likely - they don't even have a director yet..

Mika would be Brilliant if they & he work out a deal.

A musical movie about a circus!

That is Sooooo Mika!!

Concerning the negative remarks about Mika by this Paul - Since when is being successful in America the bar standard for talent & achievement??

This Paul is most likely an American??!!??

It also doesn't sound like he knows anything let alone a lot of who & what Mika is about.

I really hope that this is true.

I really admire Hugh Jackman.

A collaboration between Mika & Hugh Jackman about a circus would be remarkable!

The big surprise, however, is the studio and producers are entrusting 25-year-old singer-songwriter Mika, a barely successful commodity in the United States, to write the film's contemporary sounding book and score (what Rufus Wainwright wasn't available?). Something tells this writer this part of the equation will not turn out well.[/b]

OMG how harsh:shocked::aah:

:gathering:. . . sounds like still in negotiations

. . . maybe put these stories out to

further entice MIKA? . . .

. . . As for the referenced (completely) uncalled-for comment,

it amply demonstrates how small, mean & little the person who uttered it is . . . :shun:

No cameo in that video no --- but it does have a huge bloody painting of him in it :wink2:

Okay this is what was said verbatim. He didn't say that he wouldn't write a musical.

Mana: Would he ever...write and direct a musical?

Mika: I don't know about that. I think my gig is a little bit of a musical anyway. You know it's kinda such a show. But maybe when I'm a little bit older. I probably - well if I did it I would never be in it, you know. I think that's always the danger. I don't know it always makes me a little bit scared but it's a nice idea, isn't it?

BBC: I don't really see you as an Andrew Lloyd Weber somehow.

Mika: No not quite. Although he's very talented.

It is all over the trade papers & so many news outlets are covering this item.

I hoe Mika does this mostly because it is about the circus which I think is right up Mika's alley.

But if Mika doesn't do it look at the press & international interest he is getting just before his second album debuts!!:thumb_yello::thumb_yello:

:shocked:You're related to Jenny Lind? Cool :biggrin2:

Jenny Lind is your great...grandma??? Wow, that's incredible, I have read so much about her, she was a world famous star by the time and then mostly forgotten in her own country, Sweden.

I would love to read your research paper about her, is that possible?:wink2:

Yeah! Apparently she is my 6 generations back Grandma. I live in America but My Dad's side of the family is very swedish and my last name is Lind. I would gladly send it to you, but I've gotten a new computer since then so I don't have it saved already typed up and I have no idea where the printed copy is. If I come across it though i'll scan it!

WOW!! This sounds absolutely AMAZING!

Haha, oh man, I'm so excited...

I've recently been obsessed with Moulin Rouge and have been thinking how cool it would be for Mika to be involved in a musical.... and now its happening!!

By the way, I totally recommend Moulin Rouge. Its a musical, and its very romance-y and glittery, but it is great, in my personal opinion.

Don't watch it if you don't like over the top, glittery musicals with filming at some parts that's sped up and actors and actresses who aren't professional singers.

This is going to be fantastic...

T4P!!!
