I can't stop fangurling over this vid. :blush-anim-cl:

Visual stuff:

I absolutely adore that garden. It's so lush and enchanted-looking, and I love the little lights along the path and along the outside of the house. Did anyone notice the ones on the balcony above the patio doors? The atmosphere it creates almost makes my spine tingle. And the way the house itself looks from the outside is also very storybook-ish. I can't get enough of the way the camera pans along the outside and then peers into the windows (hmm, what does that say about me? :aah:)

I love the whole premise of the "interview" with Mika being interviewed by the "house". He just rolls with it so well, and it gave me the vibe that the house was in fact sentient and carrying on a conversation with him. Enchanted stuff and Mika go hand in hand. :blush-anim-cl:

I love the inside decor. The flowers and candles looks so warm and inviting. I love the random bits too like the lava lamp and the fibre optic colour-changing thing that Mika keeps fondling in the kitchen scenes. :teehee:

It's all just so intimate and beautiful, and just so freakin' PERFECT for this. I love how they have, for me anyway, managed to paint the idea that Mika and his band randomly rolled up here and performed for no one but this house and themselves. I'm sure the reality is that the whole place was overrun with sound guys and light guys and video guys and managers and such, but it doesn't feel that way at all.

Audio Stuff

What more can I say, he sounds amazing. I've always loved his stripped back arrangements of his songs - his definition of "acoustic"- and these are no exception. The sound quality is freakin' excellent, IMHO. I wish he'd done Happy Ending, but we got One Foot Boy so I'm certainly not complaining. That version of OFB sounds downright divine on my car stereo.

These stripped down versions showcase his voice SO damn well. I'm all about theatrical Mika running all over a huge stage, but this is another (equally delicious) slice of all he has to offer, and I think it's freakin' awesome.

Anyway, that's my gushing for the evening. Suffice it to say - I like this way better than either of his DVDs. :teehee:

I haven't seen it yet... I'm quite of depressed after the end of the gigs for me, so I don't want to be nostalgic seeing it :blush-anim-cl:

But love reading your comments, it seems this session is wonderful :wub2:

I know what you mean, I love jazz too, well at least some of it.:wink2:

It has been my greatest experiences with Mika's music when he has done improvisations and is just playing with the music. I really agree with you, in those occasions you can hear how talented he actually is and what he is able to do musically!:wub2:

Yes, so he should do more of those, right? I know his schedule is crazy, but on the other side I can imagine that acoustic gigs are not so stressfull as the big shows (less jumping around, less organisation, less expensive too) and perhaps it is not so bad for his voice, cause he doesn't have to sing as loudly as in big venues. But who am I to know things like that... Just hoping for another acoustic tour.

I have a strange question to ask, but how long is the Live @ home set? Because I have a limited amount of cap each month and last month we ran out and my parents freaked because we just upgraded (it was all the Mika videos and pics from the forum!!) so I have to "budget" for when I can watch it. Pretty much... if it's longer than 30min then I have to wait until the end of the month. *sigh*

If you can't wait until the end of the month AlexTerpsichore you can go to the following link where there a number of the songs Mika sang in approximately three minute segments each.

Don't think this has been posted yet...

Backstage at Live@Home:

Translation:

Mika: Hello!

Cameraman: Hi!

Mika: how are you?

Cameraman: How are you?

Mika: very good. So, this is the infamous house. It's very fancy, fancier than i thought. I thought it would be a little more bohemian. It's like a fairytale house. it's cool.

*inside the house*

*mika speaking english, so i wont translate :P *

Mika: I like it!

Cameraman: Really?

Mika: yeah, i like it. Theres alot of people. In my life, i never want to be alone. I always want to have alot of people around me. Except when i write songs. When i write songs, im totally alone, all the time. I disappear for 6 months.
