Definitive Mika Performances:

Ruth

Recommended Posts

I thought I’d start a thread and I don’t think this has been done before…..

The idea is to choose the best performance of any given song

(not official recordings or the official videos for them, though) – linked if possible.

---------------------------------------------

Blame it on the Girls

WHY: Great for TV performance

WHY: The first time he ever played it!

By the Time

WHY: Intimate performance featuring the Kings Singers, and the only live performance to date

Comment te dire adieu

WHY: Another great cover, duet with Emile Simon

Good Gone Girl

WHY: The first time he ever played it!

Happy Ending

WHY: He sings in a lower key and the crowd participation is magical

Los Angeles @ The Wiltern, February 2008

WHY: He hits the high notes perfectly!

WHY: Professionally recorded acoustic performance

I've Got Life

WHY: He only covered it once, but it's brilliant.

Let it Snow

WHY: Festive cover, intimate venue

Love Today

WHY: Acoustic performance, great intro

Missionary Man

WHY: High-energy performance at the end of the tour

Over My Shoulder

WHY: Intimate performance featuring the Kings Singers

WHY: Unique venue, great vocal

Pick Up Off The Floor

WHY: Intimate performance, great band and backing vocals

Rain

WHY: Great TV performance

WHY: Great atmosphere

Relax

WHY: This performance has absolutely everything that's typical of Mika's personality on stage: his voice, his energy, his control (over his band, over everrrything ) just pure perfection!

WHY: Vintage Mika!

WHY: Intimate setting, acoustic performance

Satellite

WHY: Because his cover is just that good.

Sweet Dreams

WHY: Because it's hawt. 'Nuff said. :naughty:

Same reason as above!

Touches You

WHY: Great energy

Toy Boy

Los Angeles @ the Roxy, April 2009

WHY: Because it was the very first time we heard this song, and in a small and casual setting.

WHY: Because he messes up and copes in a very cute way.

WHY: For his humour!

Good idea :biggrin2:

I nominate Relax, Take It Easy in Brussels from the Songs For Sorrow Tour

(video from Bienie)

This performance has absolutely everything that's typical of Mika's personality on stage: his voice, his energy, his control (over his band, over everrrything :naughty:) just pure perfection and I just feel so frustrated that I couldn't go to one of the acoustic shows to see it for myself!

Thanks for that recommendation.

Any Other World from PDP DVD :wub2:

Erm.

Singing WAG and Rain at Australian Idol Finale is definitely a good one.

I also love Happy Ending in Amsterdam from Biene:

simply because it's in a lower key and the unity from the crowd :wub2:

I also love BIOTG and Rain from Jools Holland, simply because members of the MFC were there - including myself - and we danced away on TV and interaction with Mika whilst the cameras weren't rolling was amazing :fangurl:

BIOTG:

Rain:

Happy Ending:

#1: February 11, 2008 at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. Those power notes are just the off the chart. :wub2:

#2: December 2009 - the Jam Sessions in Paris:

Saranayde! That's old. Okay, I have a new appreciation for her voice. Loved her vocals at the end of Happy Ending.

As for the Paris one...Mika is completely in the zone...and his face when the crowd starts singing Little Bit of Love :wub2:

Wow, hard to choose on some songs... have to give it thought.

I think this version of Pick Up Off the Floor is the best:

But here's a question: Can it be a "definitive" performance, even though it's the only time he's done a song? 'Cos if so, then I vote for this :wub2:

I think we should have the rare songs- and the covers. Especially I want you back. If we do decide it's OK, I'll try to find a you tube version

My kids were singing Satellite in the car today...we unanimously agreed that Mika's version is MUCH better than the original.:teehee: Not a performance video, just a soundtrack.

I LOVE Satellite :swoon:

Since ive never seen him live, i enjoy the performances that are on TV because they are clearer than filmed by fans in shows so I like Australian Idol performance (fireworks!!:fangurl:)

But in shows can be interesting too!!
