It takes my iPod literally half an hour to load 1/3 of this song on YouTube. The Internet is so painfully slow, and I don't have the patience to wait for the whole song to buffer! Needless to say, this is a really lovely song from what I've heard. Just beautiful!:wub2:

I REALLY love the song, ever since I heard it the first time...

But this morning, the "this is love not war, give our peace a chance" mean more than usual:wub2: (some crazy looloo shot gunfires while our new prime minister was making her victory speech and somebody died:blink:... Thought I live in a peaceful part of this earth:sneaky2:)

I read that too, awful and horrible. People keep surprising me all the time...

I really love this song, it's melody is so beautiful. Was it also played in the sercret listening party in Milan or in London? I would imagine the chorus with a big sounding (children's) choir.

It was, I believe, but I don't remember it being mentioned as one sounding particularly good - which does not mean anything, of course, as everyone hears it differently...

Still trying to decipher lyrics... here's my latest attempt:

KIDS

The kids are playing in the sun

They think their life has just begun

For them it's just another day

Playin' games only kids will play

The ball will be a million two/too (?)(I know, it makes no sense, but that's what it sounds like!)

If we keep on fighting like we do

Baby don't you walk away

Saying things only kids would say

Kids what do they know about nothing at all

Lover, love when you're here and I love when you call

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Fighting for

You shout with nothing to say

And fight 'til you get your way

It hurts but what can I do

I won't turn into what gets you (still not quite sure about that?)

Kids what do they know about nothing at all

Lover, love when you're here and I love when you call

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Playing in the setting sun

You think your life has just begun

Throwing all my love away

Just another California day

Kids what do they know about nothing at all

Lover, love when you're here and I love when you call

....

Just another California day

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Playing in the setting sun

You think your life has just begun

Throwing all my love away

Just another California day

Good point! Otherwise music would be much less diverse than it is. I think kids has potential to be a really good song, but the snippet of the cd version sounds a bit boring. IMO the live version is much better!

After listening to the live version, I was surprised that the album variant is so calm and dreamy, I expected something more epic and big. But I love it the way it is, one of the best songs in the album.

And ha, Mika still tends to insert geographical names into his songs :naughty: the day as he geography student still reminds about itself.

I adore this song but I think I'll like it more live than on the record. I was excited with the performance of this song in @L'oreal sessions, I almost cried :blush-anim-cl: and the same happened with SWM :wub2:

It's like about TOOL with me, I love the album version, but live variant is incomparable :wub2:

Well this is just my own theory, but maybe Mika adds the American place-names in the hopes of his songs getting played there.

Because going to NYC to see the pretty statue of Liberty seemed to me to be a shout-out to the Americans, so was Highway 95 and reference to "A dollar," not a Pound or a Euro. Not to mention his American accent for the speaking bit at the beginning of BIOTG

I think he really really would love to be very successful there. I hope he will be this time.

It is a trustful theory, I thought about it too. Georgia, btw :wink2:

Eureka! I just had the chance to listen to the live version of KIDS from the JuiceFM show and I finally think I have the whole song -- 99.99999% positive! :thumb_yello: (my most recent changes in BOLD)

The kids are playing in the sun

They think their life has just begun

For them it's just another day

Playin' games only kids will play

There won't be a me and you [which is what I thought at first but then changed my mind :wink2: ]

If we keep on fighting like we do

Baby don't you walk away

Saying things only kids would say

Kids what do they know about nothing at all

Lover, love when you're here and I love when you call

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Fighting for

You shout with nothing to say

And fight 'til you get your way

It hurts but what can I do

I won't turn into a kid, too

Kids what do they know about nothing at all

Lover, love when you're here and I love when you call

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Take your kid gloves off

This is love not war

Give our peace a chance

Make it worth fighting for

Playing in the setting sun

You think your life has just begun

Throwing all my love away

Just another California day

Kids what do they know about nothing at all

Oh yes Georgia is gorgeous and Toy Boy was left in Georgia.

And I suppose if Carolina charged 1 Euro instead of 1 Dollar, she'd probably need about 1,000,000 clients to make a decent living.

Isn't Carolina an American place-name too? I'm sure it is.

Yes, we have two states: North Carolina and South Carolina. :thumb_yello:

Thanks Deb for the lyrics :flowers2: About them... Why do I automatically assume someone saying these things to him and not the opposite (and the lyrics just being from the opposite perspective)??

The acoustic version on Juice FM was breath-taking, Kids is becoming one of my very favorite songs :wub2:
