That's the difference about here in italy and in england about XF: In england the audience don't think about the future in the music industry, here the audience does, this is very important. Because of this there are many people who do manythings afterwards. There is a curse for a talent show: the successful ones are not the winners but who had the second or 5th or 7th place, they do the most beautiful albums after the competition. This happens everywhere in the world but not in Italy, italian XF winners have more chances 2.will you be in XF next year ? M: I don't know because I have an album and a tour to do, I have to finish to write my songs. I want to be a musician but I'm not dumb and I know that this show is a powerful tool to make more people know my music. Journalist: When will your album be ready? I always put a cd with the proper price at the top of my pile of cds. When they noticed my scam, they wanted to make a deal: now you buy all those cds but you won't ever come back again. 4 I learnt with my teacher Isabella, a strong sicilian girl, without writing at all. I just listened and practised, a kind of diving experience. Cause I'm dyslexic and it's very important with people like this to use their skill in listening. For instance I started to learn music when I was very young, and I realized I could learn contemporary and difficult melodies even if I couldn't read the music sheets. I sang since I was 13 y.o. all the most awful things to learn, cause I could do halfsteps. Normally in classical music we do the regular tonalità Uveste???? but I did music with two different orchestras with two different tonalità and I did a glissando between them. Cause I did all this just usign my ears, this is why I could do weird music. We can do more if we don't read all, if we found out a technique to do it. This is the challenge. 5 what do you hate about your personality? M: many things, maybe too much. Like everyone of us, aren't we all like this? I don't like anything. I don't like to rewatch me cause it scares me. I don't like to listen to me at the radio or rewatch me on television. I never rewatch XF episodes, it's a torture. After this interview, would you like to listen at you? It's the same for me. 6 what do you think about rihanna and lagy gaga? M: I like them, but I don't like everything they do, absolutely not. There are interesting periods, but there are also too much commercial ones, and sometimes there are a little bit vulgar periods. When I say something is vulgar, I mean that I like an artistic vulgarity but when it's just about showing off to the medias, this is not an interesting vulgarity. Journalist: do you like them now? what about lady gaga album? M: I have to say that when it comes to rihanna, she's a performer, a talented contemporary showgirl. She never wrote a song in her whole life, there's a huge team of writes who work for her, which are my friends, she's a great performer of our times, of my generation. When a friend of mine writes a song for her, we both know she makes the song special in a pop way. When it comes to lady gaga, it's a completely different matter: she writes everything onher own, even the lyrics, I have to say one thing. I've been knowing her for many years, she never told anything mean or negative about an other artist. She always talks about herself, she's very experimental, perhaps she did things that are too extreme, we can wonder where is the sinceriy in that dress, but we can't say she's mean. We can't say she's at war. She is at war with herself, and this is interesting. Musically speaking, she has an aggressive production in the new songs, I like applause, I like the melody of the chorus, I don't like the production. I like the lyrics and the melody. The cdcover is beautiful, I mean the applause cover, is very beautiful, the make up... I don't like the production, IDM, it's too much like two years ago. But the mellody and the lyrics are very beatiful, the strophe is a bit too aggressive, but she's human, she's interesting, she always is, even it's very easy to say "I don't like this album, I don't like lady gaga, let's forget everything we liked at first." She did a great work for many years, her gigs are a great show, to me the best pop show I saw in the past ten years it was a lady gaga gig, in a small theater (2000 people) in LA, alone, just with a deejay, two dancers, a piano, 2000 people in front of her and about 20 lights on stage, nothing more. It was incredible. I told "Wow, now I get it. I didn't saw madonna in the 80ies, but now I get how it was the energy and the charisma of madonna in the 80ies".
