mellody Posted December 6, 2013 Share Posted December 6, 2013 Another question just came to me -- well, actually I can't remember exactly what the question was, but the answer was about Mika's videos. He said how he really didn't like the Celebrate video, that he was made to do it. He didn't want to release that as the first single from the album, but that the label in the US wanted to play it "safe". He liked the videos for Underwater and Popular Song, but really didn't like Celebrate at all. i completely agree with him about the choice as a first single, but i did like the video. in fact it made me like the song more. thanks deb for all the translations! Why be a music video director if all of your videos turn out the same? Some artist walking down the street and your camera following him; So boring(!) I agree with both you and LaraMay - the walking down the street is too much used, but the part with writer's block, and the ending, is very good ... And yes, - Jonas is very clever, and did well with WAG video - and lots of other stuff. Maybe MIKA should contact the Norwegian producers Stargate - they are skillful as well - and have co-operated with big stars - and lately they did "What does the fox say" - which everybody should know by now ... I don't think you can blame the record company for playing it safe here because the problem is that the song itself is too conservative and did not use Pharrell to his full effect. Unless Mika is saying that he had no artistic control over the song then it's not their fault it was too safe, whether it was a wise choice of single or not.
