So I was not the only one who noticed :naughty:

I totally agree on the anti anti-gay thing, although reading it in context it doesn't sound like he's claiming to make the statement, just Mika babbling on when a question is asked. There's no way he would use this song like that. He's been consistently been framing himself as the boy next door with the message that gay people are just like everyone else, with his 'I'm in a long and stable relationships, we've had our ups and downs, just like everyone else'. There's no way he would want to portray gay people as having sex everywhere all the time, I don't believe that.

and this is what it should be....seems to me the right way.

But when asked, he takes side, and this is ok for me.

Well he can still make a (subtle) statement in the video without turning it into gay porn. I mean he was dancing around with a penis on his head in the WAG video, even though many insisted at the time it wasn't symbolic of anything. :mf_rosetinted:

A little more seriously.. I think that with this single Mika took his risks. It is true that the melody is very catchy, but the text, so explicit, it could be criticized or misunderstood . I Mean.. it does not seems to me an easy choice to sell more.... but a sincere and True song.:thumb_yello:

Talking about explicit:

and this was a huge hit in the 70ies. :teehee:

Oh goodness, I really dislike it and it is not growing on me

I love Elle Me Dit, Karen/82 Rue Des Martyrs and L'amour Dans Le Mauvais Temps and I liked Live Your Life immediately. Popular didn't bother me having a female voice with him so I really don't know what's bothering me so much about this one. :/

Honestly...it feels like someone tossed out a half-baked Pitbull song and put Mika's voice on top of it and it irks me other than maybe the boum boum boum line + chorus. (Although yes, the lady(ies?) are making maybe a few too may boums.)

I like the video - much better than his usual efforts! Still think it sounds like a Eurovision entry though. Really we have to face up to it - he's more interested in Italy and France than UK and USA. Fair enough really, neither market has been kind to him.

I'm rethinking Mika - just can't relate to him in his prim suits and expensive shoes - what happened to the lad of 2007 who was such a breath of fresh air and so inclusive and relatable? Oh well....

:blush-anim-cl: It just shows that boum, boum, boum songs have been around a long time. Here's another one from the 70's about implied boum, boum, boum on an elevator. (I really liked this song when it came out)

Of course they've been around a long time otherwise we wouldn't even be here chating about Boum Boum Boum :naughty:

Oh "Little Mika" has been erased, shame. :lmfao:

I am really interested to see the proper video. The idea that this song is an anti anti-gay song sounds like something he just made up when the interviewer suggested it. :mf_rosetinted: Having a woman singing on the song is not going to give anyone the message it is about gay sex and if he is trying to make a statement I think Billy Brown was more effective. But that could all be changed with a daring video and I hope he puts his money where his mouth is. :fisch:

Are you playing devil's advocate? :wink2:

First of all I don't think he needs someone to tell him the meaning of his songs, especially as it is a non-commercial choice.

The lyrics are clear enough, and many of his songs (also in TOOL in songs about the relationship with his partner) have women singing in them, his backup singers were women and his backup singer now is a woman, so what's the problem?

We'll see the video and if he will have to make compromises in some countries.I hope not!

try it again, I got that message first and now it's working:thumb_yello:

And I was right with my corrections of the French text:naughty:

Me too :biggrin2:

I was about to twit that we needed lyrics when the video with lyrics was shared on Mika's facebook page and I thought he knew we'd need that here :mikadas:

We already do...

:mf_boff:

No, you are quite right to say that the lyrics are not especially and strangely obscene, and it is very true that other artists are worse, but I think that I am just not used to Mika singing this kind of stuff, although I absolutely love how the music sounds. :blush-anim-cl:

Sucking too hard on your lollipop doesnt pop anything on your mind?:mikadas:

yes....no. 8 with no promotion AT ALL :naughty:

No promotion robi? What about him spending the last year in italy and x factor????:naughty:

Thanks everyone for links, translations, etc.! :flowers2: What a day! :hypo:

In Spain it quickly reached the Top 100 on iTunes, which I guess it's not bad considering there was no promo at all here yet, no The Voice, no X Factor and no anything... :aah:

Who said there was a problem of any kind?

The only thing that is clear in the lyrics is that there are two people. Two people who could be a man and a woman as Mika has already suggested since he claims a man and a woman were his inspiration for the song. I don't necessarily believe that either since he talks a lot of spin when he is promoting his music and his story changes from one day to the next.

Here is another little "innocent" hit from the 70's....http://youtu.be/Fz1ex78QeQI. :teehee:

I know the song and I like it, but I've never known this isn't 'innocent'...:dunno:

Still don't know btw, will I know after reading the lyrics? Or does it have hidden context?
