Un pianoforte a lume di candela, la scenografia naturale del Castello Sforzesco, la sua voce. Così Mika si presenterà mercoledì 17 maggio, protagonista della speciale opening in anteprima di Piano City, il festival diffuso di Milano che animerà la città per tre giorni (19-21 maggio). Un festival che ribalta le dinamiche: la musica che non aspetta il pubblico, ma gli va incontro nelle piazze, nelle case e in spazi non convenzionali; una diffusione che non concentra l’attenzione verso il centro ma invade lo spazio urbano; qualità culturale inclusiva, non per pochi, ma donata a tutti.

 

Musica inclusiva ad ampio spettro se si aggiunge Mika, rappresentante d’elezione di un modo impegnato di fare show: lui non è solo un performer da palco, intrattenitore, animale da live; ma porta in scena anche la sua storia personale, che diventa storia di tutti. Personaggio che racconta il tempo in cui viviamo: «Quando salgo sul palco o decido di parlare davanti a una telecamera il candore è fondamentale». In questo «slogan» si riassume il suo essere artista. Un artista che spazia tra i generi (anche) dell’intrattenimento, tra musica e televisione: sa essere pop come è successo tante volte a X Factor, ma anche a Eurovision, senza dimenticare le sue radici estremamente colte e riconosciute dal mondo classico.

Dopo l’opening di Piano City a Milano, Mika si dedica al suo tour mondiale (Osaka, Tokyo e Seul le prime date, tutte già sold out), mentre sarà di nuovo in Italia in estate con sei appuntamenti speciali (tra l’8 luglio a Cattolica e il 16 luglio a Chieti).

 

Per lui trasparenza e candore sono fondamentali, per questo non si è mai tirato indietro quando gli hanno chiesto di parlare della sua omosessualità. «È molto positivo quando una persona nota parla d’amore, ma non basta, non dà la forza a tutti — aveva detto in un’intervista —. Quello che a me la dava era vedere Prince che ballava e cantava di sesso, poesia, soldi e politica, con leggerezza e intelligenza. O David Bowie che rifiutava ogni stereotipo sulla sessualità o Madonna che ci giocava e diceva che le donne potevano essere di qualsiasi tipologia. La tolleranza si provoca in maniera profonda, non bastano le parole o il potere della celebrità. Serve l’arte».

Ah damn, that sounds amazing, but I need to work on that day.  But guess it's not a full show anyway but just a short performance? If it's even for the public... on the festival's website I see nothing (yet), it's also 2 days before the festival... but as Corriere usually is a reliable source, I suppose there must be something.

I called the Ufficio Stampa of Piano City in Milan and  was told they weren't able (or perhaps weren't allowed) to give details yet re: Mika's participation in the opening of the Piano City Festival.  The man who answered the phone said to keep an eye on  the Piano City website or MIka's social media for future info.

    Le prenotazioni per partecipare alla speciale anteprima saranno disponibili da domani, martedì 9 maggio, dalle 16 sul sito ufficiale del festival.
    Accompagnato dal suo pianoforte, Mika ha scelto la rassegna Piano City Milano come anticipazione dei sei special eventi previsti per quest'estate in Italia. (ANSA).

I thought the seats were free but I could be wrong.  My understanding was that the performances of the main program are free

Ah ok, I didn't know the main programme was free. Then maybe Mika's concert will be free too (I can't imagine the other concerts would be free and for Mika you have to pay). That would definitely be too good to be true.

Gah, why is he tempting me like that?!  "Molto molto speciale"   I would have to work that day and the following day... but hmm, if I ask for time off work on the 17th and take the night buses (which for me means no sleep, can't sleep in a bus...), so I'm back in time for work on the 18th, it might be possible... 🤔

I'd have to be crazy to do that, but well...

Well, it's very tempting....

 

For the moment I booked a studio next to the castle.

I will wait till tomorrow to see if I ever get a ticket for the show...

Then I will book my flight.

 

It will be my first time n Milano so... why not?

It says by the Ingresso dalla Torre del Filarete at the Castello Sforzesco.

 

I think it's outside. I don't think there is much space in the castle itself. I actually visited the castle 13 years ago, but I can't remember the inside (maybe I wasn't inside at all).

I think it's a standing gig. I wonder too how many people they will let in.

It's probably in high demand because tickets are free and you have to reserve a place for it.
