More than four stations too, wasn't it? They've just copy pasted the text from last time!

THE PIANO RETURNS TO CHANNEL 4 FOR SECOND SERIES, DATE CONFIRMED

Following its huge ratings success with its first series last year,

The Piano returns to Channel 4 on Sunday 28th April at 9pm.

The Piano celebrates the nation’s favourite instrument by inviting talented amateur pianists to play on public pianos in London St Pancras, Leeds, Glasgow and Birmingham train stations, sharing their stories and music with the great British public.

The second series will once again be hosted by Claudia Winkleman with judges classical pianist Lang Lang and pop superstar Mika returning. The second series will see an increased episode count of seven episodes.

From nonagenarians who have been playing for eighty years to twelve-year-olds who have never played in pubic before, those who taught themselves to play the classics in lockdown to players who feel the music, composing pieces about their life experiences and someone with no sight who against all the odds has mastered Chopin, commuters in train stations across the country will be stopped in their tracks as heartfelt, emotional and uplifting performances take place.

Channel 4's Chief Content Officer Ian Katz said: "In a world full of wannabes seeking their moment in the limelight, The Piano was a breath of fresh air. It celebrated ordinary people doing something extraordinary for the sheer love of it. From 94-year-old widower George who played in Glasgow station to Lucy, the blind 13-year-old who stole the nation’s hearts."

Richard McKerrow, Creator’ and Executive Producer, Love Productions said: “It always felt somewhat of a creative leap so we were particularly thrilled with the success of The Piano on Channel 4.  Most especially the warm response from everyone who watched...

"We’re extremely excited to be embarking on further series with the wonderful Claudia Winkleman at the helm along with Mika and Lang Lang and the opportunity to unearth a whole new range of unknown amateur pianists from across the country and to hear what music they want to play in public.”

The Piano is available now on Channel 4 online

Channel 4’s ‘The Piano’ Is Returning To Manchester This Weekend, And You Can Take Part

Some very special guests are coming to Manchester City Centre to celebrate the second series of 'The Piano', encouraging the public to get involved and learn piano.

Channel 4’s The Piano wowed audiences last year as incredible musicians were discovered UK-wide in public spaces. Most memorable was Lucy, who stunned onlookers from her first performance at Leeds train station, to her royal performance at the King’s Coronation having won the show, all without sight − and the search is on once again as The Piano embarks on its second series, with a special surprise for Manchester in the form of a Big Piano.

On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April, Channel 4 is set to install a massive seven metre long Big Piano − similar to the FAO Schwarz piano seen in the film Big − in Exchange Court, Manchester Arndale for members of the public, families, celebrities, local personalities and content creators to have a go on. There will also be performers dancing on the Big Piano throughout the weekend, so if you don’t fancy it yourself, there’s always something incredible to watch.

Alongside this, there will be a Steinway piano that will be tuned as part of the installation, so any true pianists can still get involved. Of course, the installation is absolutely free to visit and get involved in, and being in the Arndale Centre is very convenient for most, especially if you’re spending the day bobbing in and out of the shops or restaurants.

You can also apply for the third series of The Piano if you reckon your skills are up to snuff!

Bring out your inner Lang Lang or Mika, and get stuck into this “fun and noisy” activity, as described by Channel 4, in anticipation of the award-winning show coming back to our screens with the iconic Claudia Winkleman at the helm. We’ll also be keeping an eye out to see whether The Piano will be making its way to Manchester for the show itself, and perhaps make a famous Manc.

📍 The Big Piano installation will be located in Exchange Court, Arndale Centre, Manchester M4 3AD.

I was checking yesterday on the Google maps where it is. I will try to find it. But it looks like it's a huge mall. I hope there will be some signs to find it 😜

It's here, the Exchange Court runs through both the Lower Mall and Upper Mall levels (basically ground floor and 1st floor). The ground floor is an open space, the upper area is enclosed.

Oh, thank you Andrea. I couldn't find the Exchange Court on the Google Map - but it seems to be the name of the mall part.

I am not joking.
