Mika's Magic Numbers -- PLEASE READ

Recommended Posts

I realize we already have a few threads going about this new program,

but I wanted to start a new one, with fresh information --

hope this helps clarify some things.

Earlier this morning I spoke to someone over at PUSH -- I originally

just wanted to sort out my own problems with my Mika's Magic

Numbers account.

He figured out my issues pretty quickly, but then we talked about the

codes/points system in general.

First of all some specific points:

-- if you're having trouble logging into the Mika's Magic Numbers account,

change your Mikasounds password, log out, and then log back in with your

new password. That *should* correct the problem. If not contact, PUSH

support.

-- the codes for the digital EP will be emailed this afternoon.

-- if you bought a poster or a pin set at one of the gigs and got a

card with a code, well, you weren't meant to get it, and that's why

they are probably not validating for you. But they will

honor those codes -- you just have to enter them as if you bought a

t-shirt, then they should be accepted by the system. If you're having

troubles with that, email PUSH's support.

-- if you were trying to validate a DVD or CD yesterday and it didn't

work, try it again today. There were a few UPC codes that they

didn't have entered into the system, but they should all be there now.

If you still have problems... you know what to do! :wink2:

-- codes/points are not transferable and can NOT be pooled. This program

is meant for individuals, and they will be comparing your codes, which

are unique, against their sales records. If they don't match with your

name/account, you won't receive credit for the codes. Sorry about that.

Now about the program in general:

The main idea behind the program is to reward the most active, hard-core

fans with things that money can't buy. You'll notice that the prizes

over 35,000 points are things like that -- autographed platinum disk,

etc.

They reckon that most fans can accumulate up to 35,000 points

by buying a ticket to a show, the CDs and the DVDs, and being

relatively active on the MS forum. Prizes at 35K points and under

are items that are for sale, but you are able to obtain them

for free with your points.

I'm reading a lot of you saying that this is about who has more money,

or that it's to generate a lot of money for Mika. Well, they're

actually trying to avoid that. For instance, buying 5 copies

of the new album won't matter, as only one copy will earn you points.

Sure, if you have more money you can go to more gigs, but that's

how things are normally, right?

If everyone continues with their normal

patterns, buying what they would normally buy, posting as they would

normally post, there should be no problems -- it should all be

relatively fair.

As I said, you can only validate one copy of each of the CDs

and DVDs, and I think only one poster, maybe a couple t-shirts, I'm not

100 percent sure. But it's not as though you'll get credit for

buying 100 t-shirts. And if you spam the site with hundred of posts,

they'll see that too, and you won't get credit for them. They are

trying to be fair, I think.

Now obviously there are some things that haven't been thought through

enough. For example, they probably need to institute limits on the number

of posts a person can make that will earn points. And it doesn't seem

they took into consideration that one person might buy 4 tickets for

friends -- if those codes aren't transferable, they person who *actually*

paid for the ticket won't get the credit. Things like that need

to be worked out, we'll send them some of our thoughts on those

sorts of things that they didn't think about, that might need to be

changed.

And I think those are the types of changes that

they're talking about when they say they reserve the right to change

the program at any time -- I don't think they intend to change

point levels for prizes whenever they see someone getting close to

a big item. That sort of legal language is standard in any rewards or

incentive program, IMO -- like the grocery store reward program you

might belong to. They all say that they can change or even discontinue

the program without notice.

Anyhow, I think that was all I wanted to let you know about at this time.

If you have more questions, they are really encouraging you to email

their support address. They seem very easy-going and great to work

with, so hopefully we can sort the technical issues out quickly. :thumb_yello:

Thanks dcdeb!

A little question (maybe it's on the website but I haven't been there yet :teehee:): how does it work with the "rewards"? Do you get something if you want it automatically and will you keep your points? Or will the points that reward "cost" be deducted from your total? (so: do you have to make choices or can you just get everything you want without losing points for the bigger things?).

Hey Debs,

Thanks for that it clears up alot of issues.

I'm kinda suspicious (sp?) that someone has been able to run up 60,000 points alread, that has to be pooled resources imo.

I think that the whole idea of rewarding fans in this way is fab I just hope it doesn't get abused.

Push support have been amazing, answer questions quickly and encouraging to get back in touch with further problems, so big thanks to them too.

THANKS !!! :thumb_yello:

Btw, could you post their email address please ? The other link didn't work for me...

Scroll to the bottom of their FAQ page and they have put in a little

form for replies here:

http://www.pushentertainment.com/faqs/faq.cfm?promotion=161

or else email them at

support@pushentertainment.com

Some of us are having problems logging into the Mikasounds website. I've reset my password and it just refreshes the page without logging me in. Who do we contact about that?

Is that still today? They did some tweaks overnight that were supposed

to have corrected that. If it's still a problem, please send me a PM

with your email address and I'll pass it on to the right person. :thumb_yello:

You know, I started to ask him that, but then we started talking about

something else and I forgot. I'll find out. But it looks as though

from what I've gotten so far the points weren't deducted for the little

animations, I just automatically got them when I hit the point level.

Maybe for the little things it doesn't matter? I'll check.

so debs who the person that has 60000 points then ? :wink2:

I honestly don't know -- he didn't tell me. :dunno:

They have been great, I agree! :thumb_yello:

They didnt say anything about why some ppl cant post comments?

No, I didn't realize that was an issue. Has that been going on for a while?

Or did it just start when the new Magic Numbers program started?

Have you emailed their support yet? Start there, I'd say.

surely no-one actually have 60000 points , maybe it was just put they to make competitive people buy more gear to beat the 60000 mark ....... i dont believe that these points were intended to make mika more dosh bull-s**t of course it is ! would mika`s crew rather i bought my gig tickets from ticket scotland or them ... would i ... if i buy from my local ticket agent i have no waiting for the tic + no postage to pay but if i dont buy from mikasounds i lose out on my points :boxed:

I am finally cleared of any signs of depression or dissapointment!

I have noticed that thing about the CD's too (that you can only validate one)

Provided that you can validate only 1 CD, tickets for concerts bla bla...I feel this is a long-term commitment! As the next tour is nothing too soon and the album is in the fall!

THANK YOU DCDEB for clearing this up! It all makes a lot more sense now! :aah:

P.S. can you believe I'm the same person from last night?

Push has stated that they will be checking the source of the codes before awarding any prize over 100,000 points so if anyone attempts to gain by pooling they will not be able to claim it. It is possible to have 60,000 points legitimately at this point though. There are people who go to a lot of gigs and obviously they own all of the product, etc.

Thanks for gathering and posting all the info Deb. :thumb_yello:

Yeah I saw that and do think that it's wise thinking from Push.

While I'm not saying it's impossible for the leader to be completely valid I just think that they've got to be redeeming for more than there own products.

To be honest I'm not bothered about where I am on the leader board, I haven't the time or the cash to go to all the gigs as I tried to do back in 07. I'm really pleased that this is something that everyone can benefit from. Don't like Champagne anyway! Lol!

Oh, another (little) question:

How are they gonna handle the big prizes?

I mean, I can imagine the animations f.e. being there for everyone that gets those points, but the private gig? Is it only for the first getting 500.000? Or how will they handle that? I can't imagine everyone getting (eventually) 500.000 points will get a private gig?

(not that I would mind :bleh: )

Mika said there will be one gig. Obviously first come, first served. :wink2:

Yeah, seems that's the obvious :wink2:

Do you know if there's a line somewhere? You know, what's available for everyone and what's only for the first one having those points? Then I know where my goal is :bleh::roftl:

And uh .. won't it be like one person getting it all? (the big things I mean). Maybe not, but it could happen .. if you're in the lead I don't think it's that hard to stay there (if new things come out or if there are new gigs etc. I think that person will probably buy it/tickets, although you don't know for sure of course .. but it seems logical to me :bleh: ).

We'd have to confirm it but I suspect you need to redeem your points for anything after 100,000. So if you spend 325,000 to get the meet and greet you're going to have to start all over again and you won't be the first one to get 500,000 for the private gig.

Oh ok .. So it would be like getting things withouth losing points untill some amount of points, and then you'll have to choose what you want and loose the points you spend?

Sounds good :mf_rosetinted:
