Fran Posted May 7, 2011 Share Posted May 7, 2011 I wonder why there are always so many untranslated sentences from the original article in the Italian column Some of them: I was nervous, not only because I was the one doing the driving (I am a terrible driver), but because this felt more like a pilgrimage than a meeting. After getting lost... ...the same way Norman Rockwell reinvented the art of marketing illustration. He lives with his female assistant and friend. With visitors he is generous with his thoughts and time but prefers to work and listen to Schubert. In pop songs, melodies and lyrics have to be direct. often with a raised voice (the publishers made sure of that) Disney’s first full length film. I got my first job at eleven Somehow, all these emotions are still communicated and crystal clear. My Frank picture cost me $300, a fortune at the time. I often kept this addiction secret from my friends, embarrassed of some of the risks I was taking. Not to mention the inaccurate translations... Indeed... I also missed some of them. I always think of Mika as, not just a singer/songwriter/ columnist, but a master of visual imagery as well! It's great to know more about this side of him. It's also interesting to read the history of illustration, as explained so well by Mika's writing. Yes, that could be the reason, but sometimes, depending of the sentence you skip, the following sentence doesn't make sense. For instance, here, when it's said "I didn't stop there" having skipped the previous sentence about the money he spent: Frank was subversive but my parents had no idea. I guess it shouldn't be a problem, because they could edit the image and insert it inside the frame, unless the shape doesn't fit into it. After all it's their fault if they have that extra work ...unless they don't send the image to Mika if it isn't inside the frame...
