krysady
Fortune and Zuleika had to come to him to get a number on their hands so they could get ice cream Then Mika's siblings are familiar with the numbers' system I hope it was enough ice cream for everyone
RainbowGirl
Yes it was the first Le Poisson Rouge gig in NYC in 2009. The whole family was there and it was a big day. The queue was huge by early afternoon, probably 150 people. Mika had ordered a gourmet ice cream truck for us and Standard Toaster was organizing access to the ice cream truck based on the numbers in the gig queue so that Mika didn't get charged for ice cream given to random people walking by. Fortune and Zuleika had to come to him to get a number on their hands so they could get ice cream Anyway later in the evening he found granny separated from the family and escorted her to the VIP area where they were all sitting. omg i love little stories like this Edited October 1, 2013 by RainbowGirl
Christine
Then Mika's siblings are familiar with the numbers' system I hope it was enough ice cream for everyone Yes there was enough ice cream but all these random people on the streets of New York kept stopping trying to buy ice cream but it was not for sale. The guy was just giving it away and then charging Mika for every scoop he handed out. It was $7 for 1 scoop so we had to make sure all these random people moved along and didn't get ice cream. Christine
Oh my,that's quite pricey! Poor Mika,no wonder why he's doing XF and the Voice,I guess he still have to pay for that Well you may have noticed there are no more ice cream trucks in the queue these days. It was really snobbish organic artisan ice cream. I had the ginger: "We create this flavor with pure ginger juice, candied ginger pulp and pieces of candied ginger. We source the candied ginger from a producer who uses baby fiber-free ginger and candies it in closed kettles. Using closed kettles is very important as it creates an end product with an unparalleled intensity. Our ginger ice cream is creamy and sweet with just the right amount of heat." http://www.vanleeuwenicecream.com/?page_id=

crazyaboutmika
I have checked the chocolate ice cream and it's French Chocolate For our chocolate ice cream we chose Michel Cluizel Chocolate. We made our decision after tasting products from many top chocolate producers. Simply put, Michel Cluizel was the most extraordinary chocolate that we had ever tasted. This small, family-run French company is committed to producing the highest quality chocolate. They have discovered the world’s most remarkable plantations, and process their cocoa without the use of soy lecithin, a common commercial agent. And, since, 1997 Michel Cluizel has been committed to developing durable relationships with renowned planters in the spirit of fair trade. Unlike most cocoa processors, Michel Cluizel grinds whole vanilla beans into their mills with the cocoa beans. This is a far superior practice than using an extract. Christine
I hope it was good Yeah it was! I saw there were a lot of half-eaten ones in the trash though which really annoyed me. I think people just wanted something that Mika was handing out whether they felt like eating ice cream or not.
Dreamy_Queen
@Lucrezia Thank you for the translation! Such an article full of light and positiveness! It reminds me of the old Italian movies But in them were lots of loud arguing and screaming on each other with a lot of passion, and in final everything was nice and friendly I wonder if they were quarreling in this noisy way Anyway, nice to understand, that in these times of separation and lonely people, still exist families like Mika's - big, united and unbreakable! I'm in awe!

No that was a different ice cream truck. The one in NYC wasn't a big promotional thing. Mika was in Montréal in the morning and he heard that the queue had formed really early in NYC so he asked us to tweet a pic of ourselves in the queue. Then he said he was sending a surprise for us. Edit: Here are the tweets (with pics):

Christine
It was from John actually. Mika was out there being lost. When I was searching for the ice cream tweets I saw Mika asking Nono if she was in the queue already (she was complaining about the cold) at the secret gig in LA. And he said he would send some hot chocolate out. So sweet. I really miss those days. Of course I can buy my own ice cream and hot chocolate but I really miss the days when he was so in tune and in touch. Even just having John and Andy around made you feel like he was keeping an eye on everything and looking after everyone.

John came out and saw that, then sent some girls to Dunkin' Donuts for hot chocolate and donuts for us! So sweet. Then a bit later Mika came out to chat for a while, despite the cold temperatures. Those were the days. Ahem. So, back on topic -- I have to say that if I had ANY group of 20+ people traveling with me I'd probably end up hurting someone after a few days! And ESPECIALLY if it was my family. (I might even do myself in!) That is just way too much togetherness. I couldn't take it. That would NOT be a holiday for me!
