Some of the best cheeses in the world are made with unpasteurised milk

Really?! I never knew, and I love Red Leicester too!

Maybe my taste buds are a bit off today :sweatdrop:

Do you eat parmesan?

Not yet, it is another cheese I'd like to try! Especially after seeing someone make parmesan crisps on TV, they looked yummy! :licks_lips:

Artisan, mind, not the supermarket versions.

Does anyone have recommendations for a good dairy/cheese supplier that takes online orders? I feel the need to expand my cheese boundaries beyond Tesco. 😅

I hope you're not incubating a cold! It's the time of year for germs to do the rounds. 🥺

Has to be the Pangbourne Cheese Shop (cheese-etc.co.uk) but their delivery charge is about £6 I think

Ouch! But for an occasional treat it might be worth it. I'll check them out, thank you!

Left to right;

Chabicou

Mont d’or

Tiroler Bergkäse (Tirol Mountaincheese)

Saint-Flour

Epoisses!!!! :thumb_yello:

I love the Saint-Flour (the blue cheese) best, but that’s just what I like best tastewise. I LOOOOVE strong cheeses. However, the Epoisses was a very close second. I wonder if it would’ve been served at the appropriate temperature (warmer than it was now), if my rating would change. I will just have to try again :wink2:

The Chabicou is a mild goat cheese. The Mont D’Or should actually be served warmer like the Epoisses, but on a cheeseplate like this it’s not possible, because they will both be too runny. It is actually a lot milder than the Epoisses.

The Tiroler Bergkäse is a hard cheese.

Cheeseplates are usually served in order from mild to strong, so that’s also how I enjoyed them. I personally don’t like the toasted bread with it, so I didn’t eat it. But the fig spread! Ah! Perfect!

Now this is the good stuff when it comes to cheese spread!

It doesn't say on the packet here but it is cheddar cheese, has a good strong taste to it and works well on so many things!

I tried it on crackers, biscuits and even a tea cake!

I bought some at the start of the week and now it's all gone :(

Self made banana bread, pear mustard, Elsässer Winzerkäse, St Agur Edelpilz Käse and Epoisses :wub2:

:clap:Pear mustard is new, sounds interesting. Sweet and spicy in one, I guess, like pear and ginger?

Got a pot to try on your recommendation. Yummy! You know you're eating cheese, not like some flavourless spreads. :licks_lips: The blurb made me laugh though - "proudly made with Scottish cheese! Spread produced in France." :lmfao:

I found it to be quite moreish too!

They make other flavours too, I'd like to try the 'smokey' and the 'vintage' but I've yet to find them actually in a store, I may have to look around in a few places! :biggrin2:

WHAT?! 2 of my favourite things combined into 1!

SOCKS AND CHEESE! 😁

(as long as they don't smell like cheese though!)

Seeing as it's coming up to Christmas I thought I'd share this cheese tradition from the Chelsea Pensioners (retired soldiers of the British Army).

Each year a cheese is donated from Dairy UK to the Pensioners and they perform the Ceremony of the Christmas Cheeses. It involves blessing the cheese and making the first cut with a ceremonial sword.

You can watch the 2020 ceremony here:

They then of course eat the cheese! :biggrin2:

You can read more about it here too:
