I've used your post to open a thread for this song. Google translation: Alone at the bottom of the sea Tell me what it's for To be like a treasure That no one adores Be careful because I'm watching you Look what you're missing Without danger everything is flaccid Every love has its pirate love and hate Still it's worth it It's like checkmate Every love has its pirate Love, love, pirate Love, love, love Flasque makes sense, if I use the translation of "flaccid" - I didn't know that English word before, but seems it means "without energy". 2

It also could be "flaque" ? (puddle ) Like something very small compared to the sea ? Edited November 29, 2023 by carafon

TinyLove_CJ
Yet again another song that I think will be very relatable, for me at least it's another song that I can just feel. From just the few lyrics we have at the moment there seems to be a lot of depth behind those words and I also love the gentleness of it. Might just be me but the start of the snippet reminds me of Feels Like Fire, maybe just a tad slower. mellody
There are too many "tch" sounds for my liking in this snippet, it doesn't please my ears. And it sounds a bit flat - maybe because there's not really any drums/percussion ... but I could imagine that the song takes off somewhat more, I miss that in this snippet. Not among my faves for now, but interesting topic, can't wait to hear the lyrics, and I'm curious to hear what else he did with the sound for the full version.
holdingyourdrink
I wonder if he sings it as the “pirate” or the “treasure”. I think both can be applicable - to anyone, not just him.
CharlotteL
I absolutely love the explanation for this song!! The idea of writing a love song for people who are not in love at the moment, to tell them that they are still loveable and like a hidden treasure?! That's wonderful.

From the lyrics we can hear in the snippet and the ones he quotes here I'd say he's the pirate: "Every love has its pirate, you the love and me your pirate". Although my first thought was "Doesn't he normally see himself as the treasure?! Thank god that you found me" etc Edited November 29, 2023 by CharlotteL

It could be flaccid, but at the risk of going to the NC, I'm compelled to note that the common usage of the word these days is to describe... umm .. when a man... well, the words soft and floppy come to mind... And Mika will know this!

Presci1108
That's probably the song that surprised me the most. When I heard the snippet, I thought "well, It's... nice", not less, but not more, but listening to it in full, I absolutely love that song now. It's very sweet !

But .....honestly , as a French speaking person I feel like the "ique" rimes are quite weak . And they even had to finish a line with an English word to complete the "at" ones. I can't blame Mika because he's not French , but I'm quite disappointed that Doriand didn't find a better way for the concept as it seems that it was his idea Btw I think it was good that he wrote some songs with Carla De Coignac . I love very much all the songs she worked on Edited December 4, 2023 by carafon
