with my current kitchen capacity, I'll end up bringing cheese and baguettes :mf_rosetinted:

I hope they'll be fresh. Stale baguettes make me sick...:freak:

I still think the French popera with the Vangelis sound is the likely winner though, so you'd better prepare some fancy French food to celebrate with ...:biggrin2:

I think it's too classy to win, but it would be really cool if it does :wub2: Better see if I can catch a frog just in case :mf_rosetinted:

@mariposa I hope you won't mind me posting the link you tweeted earlier today:

http://www.oljo.de/eurovision2011-video-charts-esc/top10.html

I can't believe the Hungarian entry is 2nd most popular :jawdrop:

Normally we have really weak entries but this one is just awesome - I love it and I never thought I'd ever say this bit out of all the songs I have heard so far it is my favourite. :teehee:

I am sure Kati has no chance of winning the competition but at least we can be proud of our entry .. :original:

Haven't had a lot of time to follow everything, so most songs will be a first during the shows. But:

I just listened to the Hungarian entry for the first time and I like it! :thumb_yello: She can sing, has a good voice and the song is catchy. Whenever I start tapping my feet or bobbing my head unconsciously, it's a good sign.

You know, a lot of bookmakers say that France will win.

The same thing happened with Norway in 2009(?), bookmakers said he'll win and he did.

Thanks for telling me. It feels great that others like it, too.

It's not that this song has any roots in our culture it has a typical 00s dance beat, nothing original, not even the melody.:teehee:) but it could be the first real hit of a Hungarian person in the European charts

I also say France will win. That song stands out from the rest in sounding 'classy' (Eurovision voters are pretty conservative ) plus there is a cute young blue eyed blond boy singing it.

The only disadvantage France has vs most other entries is that most people will only hear it first on Saturday (as France gets through the semi-finals automatically) . It did not seem to be much of a problem for Lena but by the time of the final everyone was talking about her chance of winning. I'm not sure if France can turn the prediction of bookmakers to their advantage.

When the piano started I thought he'll begin to sing "Take a look at my girlfriend"...:roftl:

It is catchy but I don't think it will be as popular as last year's really memorable tune.

My thoughts were more: Grace Kelly......

......could also be my Mika-deformation tho.....:roftl:

I thought the same when I heard the French entry (but I have not heard all entries yet).

I am happy that the Finnish entry is not a folk song (they too often are, and they are always very weird), but I'm afraid it's quite embarrassing :aah:

I have just checked it.. It is not embarrassing. It is a cute little song with a nice guy - it might be boring a bit though or not outstanding enough to win. However, it can still get to a good position.

You think so? Maybe I should listen to it again with an open mind, I'm always very critical with our entries... This time I actually liked the beginning, it is cute, but the chorus part?

There are a couple of old entries (from years back) that I actually like a lot even they didn't have much success :wub2:

I don't think France will win (as usual!)

Danish song reminds me another song but I can't find it

Portuguese song is just... amazing...

I like France though. The guy can sing!

I'm not a fan of Eurovision but I'm so watching it this year. And it's all because of our lovely slovenian performer- Maja Keuc.

Her voice is simply outstanding. I went to see her in concert not long ago, and I had goosebumps from the very beginning to very the end. Ok so the eurovison song isn't really top of the top-they could've (and should've) done something better for her (not to mention that the video for the song is really shi**y-that's why I'm not posting it :roftl:) but oh well, I bet all on her beautiful voice. She's really super talented. Love her.:wub2:

Boys and girls, EUROVISION week is about to start! So excited!!! :groupwave:

Semi finales on Tuesday and Thursday - and then the big final on Saturday! Can't wait!!

So I thought it was about time to start our internal MFC ranking. I would love to know what songs you guys prefer.

If you haven't heard them yet, you can listen to them here:

songs of the first semi-final:

http://www.youtube.com/user/eurovision#p/c/BD85E817019E6B76

songs of the second semi-final:

http://www.youtube.com/user/eurovision#p/c/2B7EE0834CBEE94D

prequalified songs:

http://www.youtube.com/user/eurovision#p/c/FDAC34205AD9D974

So here's my personal comments on the songs:

first semi-final

01 Poland Magdalena Tul Jestem

not particularly fond of it, but it's ok

02 Norway Stella Mwangi Haba Haba

Ok, but I don't really like the verses, the chorus is fine though

03 Albania Aurela Gaçe Feel The Passion

The video is kinda trashy, the songs is ok, but a little bit too aggressive IMO

04 Armenia Emmy Boom Boom

I actually like this song, would like to see her in the final

05 Turkey Yüksek Sadakat Live It Up

Not too bad!:punk:

06 Serbia Nina Čaroban

For me it's an ok song, but too boring

07 Russia Alexej Vorobjov Get You

produced by RedOne - I would have expected more. But it could definitely get some radio airplay in Europe. The chorus is kinda chatchy, too.

08 Switzerland Anna Rossinelli In Love For A While

I think it's beautiful. Hope we'll see Switzerland in the final!

09 Georgia Eldrine One More Day

Yay, this rocks! I like it!

10 Finland Paradise Oskar Da Da Dam

Cute guy, cute song, cute lyrics. He's got to be in the final for sure!

11 Malta Glen Vella One Life

Malta can't be serious...:roftl:

12 San Marino Senit Stand By

it's a nice song actually, but I don't think they'll make it

13 Croatia Daria Celebrate

very flat IMO

14 Iceland Sjonni's Friends Coming Home

moving story behind this song, but it doesn't really grow on me

15 Hungary Kati Wolf What About My Dreams?

The big favourite for the title this year! Well produced! She will definitely be top5 in the end.

16 Portugal Homens Da Luta Luta É Alegria

Funny...

17 Lithuania Evelina Sašenko C'est Ma Vie

great voice...I fear she won't get through though...I think it's a beautiful song. Very musical-like!

18 Azerbaijan Ell/Nikki Running Scared

Ok song, nice ballad. They'd deserve to make it to the finals

19 Greece Loucas Yiorkas feat. Stereo Mike Watch My Dance

not at all my taste

So for me, the 10 countries I would put through are:

Armenia, Turkey, Russia, Switzerland, Gerogia, Finland, San Marino, Hungary, Lithuania, Azerbaijan

second semi-final

01 Bosnia & Herzegovina Dino Merlin Love In Rewind

I actually like this song (sounds like Paolo Conte to me whom i really like, so...)

02 Austria Nadine Beiler The Secret Is Love

The song's ok, but too boring IMO

03 The Netherlands 3JS Never Alone

this song does nothing to me

04 Belgium Witloof Bay With Love Baby

ok...I actually like a capella songs...

05 Slovakia TWiiNS I'm Still Alive

This song reminds me of the Veronicas. Not too bad!

06 Ukraine Mika Newton Angel

So who's that Mika? :naughty: I like the song....

07 Moldova Zdob și Zdub So Lucky

Somehow I like this song...They won't make it through though I believe

08 Sweden Eric Saade Popular

Oh dear, Eric finally made it to the ESC. Ok song, a bit "haunting" but stilla cceptable

09 Cyprus Christos Mylordos San Aggelos S’Agapisa

boooring

10 Bulgaria Poli Genova Na Inat

I like it...but I don't believe it will be voted to the finals either

11 F.Y.R. Macedonia Vlatko Ilievski Rusinka

love it! Good luck!

12 Israel Dana International Ding Dong

Dana's back! It was the first time I watched the Eurovision when she won back in 1998! Good memories. This year's song is ok, too.

13 Slovenia Maja Keuc No One

beautiful voice, beuatiful girl, but I don't really like the song

14 Romania Hotel FM Change

great song IMO!!!!

15 Estonia Getter Jaani Rockefeller Street

LOVE LOVE it, it's one of my (if not THE favourite) this year!!! *1273 down to Rockerfeller Street*

16 Belarus Anastasiya Vinnikova I Love Belarus

like the melody, but the songs a bit weird...

17 Latvia Musiqq Angel In Disguise

I kinda like this song...

18 Denmark A Friend In London New Tomorrow

LILE LIKE LIKE

19 Ireland Jedward Lipstick

C'mon it's Jedward. This song is my thsi year's guilty pleasure... :teehee:

This semi-finals will be a lot tighter than the first one.

My 10 entries that I'd pick for the final would be:

Bosnia&Herzegowina, Slowakia, Sweden, F.Y.R. Macedonia, Israel, Romania, Estonia, Latvia, Denmark, Ireland

Thanks for the list :thumb_yello:

*first semi-final

01 Poland Magdalena Tul Jestem

A bit boring... Have heard it X times before.

02 Norway Stella Mwangi Haba Haba

She doesn't sing particularly good.... The chorus is okay but it's is a no for me.

03 Albania Aurela Gaçe Feel The Passion

I'm not looking forward to see/hear this live. It's okay, but I prefer another type of song for eurovision. It's a lot of screaming as well..

04 Armenia Emmy Boom Boom

Hmmm difficult. I liked the beginning. Had expectations that I'd like the whole song but the chorus disappointed me. It's a bit too childish.

05 Turkey Yüksek Sadakat Live It Up

I don't know why but I usually love the entries for Turky! I can't recall a year I didn't like it... And this year is no different. Me likey! :thumb_yello:

06 Serbia Nina Čaroban

I like it! Deserves to be in the final imo.

07 Russia Alexej Vorobjov Get You

It reminds me of a song... Can't remember which one atm... Anyway, I'm not blown away by it. It wouldn't be in my top 10.

08 Switzerland Anna Rossinelli In Love For A While

Nice and cute.

09 Georgia Eldrine One More Day

Brrr, nope, not my thing. Don't like it at all. Couldn't even finish the whole song.

10 Finland Paradise Oskar Da Da Dam

Nice voice.

11 Malta Glen Vella One Life

The song itself, the melody isn't that bad actually. But the video gets me worried... What is this going to be live?

12 San Marino Senit Stand By

It's a nice ballad. I usually don't like ballads.

13 Croatia Daria Celebrate

No.

14 Iceland Sjonni's Friends Coming Home

I like it :thumb_yello:

15 Hungary Kati Wolf What About My Dreams?

Good one! If she can pull it off live and sing well = big success!

16 Portugal Homens Da Luta Luta É Alegria

Awful.

17 Lithuania Evelina Sašenko C'est Ma Vie

I immediately loved her voice. It reminds me of the type of voice they cast for a disney fairytale. The song isn't "wow" enough though imo.

18 Azerbaijan Ell/Nikki Running Scared

It's okay.

19 Greece Loucas Yiorkas feat. Stereo Mike Watch My Dance

One of my least favorites. The rap thing is just horrid.

*second semi-final

01 Bosnia & Herzegovina Dino Merlin Love In Rewind

I think it's nice but it doesn't catch my attention enough

02 Austria Nadine Beiler The Secret Is Love

I've had a change of heart about this one. It's a no for me. It's very gaga-like

03 The Netherlands 3JS Never Alone

I like it okay. But maybe that's because they've played it like mad over here :roftl: I do prefer it in dutch though. Maybe they should have kept it like that.

04 Belgium Witloof Bay With Love Baby

Dislike it very much.

05 Slovakia TWiiNS I'm Still Alive

Nope.

06 Ukraine Mika Newton Angel

Not my taste

07 Moldova Zdob și Zdub So Lucky

I love it! Seriously! It makes me happy, liked it upon hearing it for the first time.

08 Sweden Eric Saade Popular

It's okay but I wouldn't vote for it.

09 Cyprus Christos Mylordos San Aggelos S’Agapisa

Pffffffffffffff, next.

10 Bulgaria Poli Genova Na Inat

It's okay, not a winner though.

11 F.Y.R. Macedonia Vlatko Ilievski Rusinka

I like it! It's the type of eurovision song I always like hehe:naughty: I love that rhythm. Makes me want to get up and dance.

12 Israel Dana International Ding Dong

It's nice, nothing spectacular but am looking forward to the performance.

13 Slovenia Maja Keuc No One

Not my thing

14 Romania Hotel FM Change

I like Romania! It's one of those songs I immediately liked. I hope it gets high! Top 5 preferably :)

15 Estonia Getter Jaani Rockefeller Street

It's catchy...

16 Belarus Anastasiya Vinnikova I Love Belarus

I like the song, not fond of the voice.

17 Latvia Musiqq Angel In Disguise

meh

18 Denmark A Friend In London New Tomorrow

It's a nice song, nothing special but it's good.

19 Ireland Jedward Lipstick

Well I do look forward to the performance :mf_rosetinted:

*already qualified for the final

11 France Amaury Vassili Sognu

I like it, wow he can sing! :wub2: I think this has the surprise factor that could cash in a lot of votes.

12 Italy Raphael Gualazzi Madness Of Love

LOVE IT! My favorite.

14 United Kingdom Blue I Can

Meh.... Don't like the little "choreography" they're doing.

16 Germany Lena Taken By A Stranger

I'm not a fan of Lena and her accent.

22 Spain Lucía Pérez - Que Me Quiten Lo Bailao

The song itself is okay.

------------------------------

Yeah, this year's not a success for me.

I'd say my top five is:

1. Italy

2. Romania

3. France

4. Hungary

5. Moldova
