Let's try to bring BBB on the radio!

I can tell you now, you can try R1 in the UK til your blue in the face, but unless the video for BBB gets a massive amount of hits, they won't play it. That and lots of hits on iTunes, Spotify and Deezer. That's pretty much how they decide the play list.

Interestingly, I got an email from Spotify today telling me that Boum Boum Boum was there now. I guess they could see Mika was about all I played on Spotify. :naughty:

This isn't exactly about radio, but relevant. Last night I was watching a late night talk show (The Late Show with Seth Meyers) and the musical guest was Stromae. They sang in French, the Papa song that I don't know how to spell, and the lyrics were translated in English at the bottom of the screen. I thought of Mika the whole time. How cool would that be? He could perform amazingly, then they could chat with him a bit. He'd shock people by being a native English speaker, and we all know he's a great interview. Maybe some of us Americans could shoot the show an email, since they are obviously open to non English speaking acts.

Stromae....I enjoyed them, but they are quite different, aren't they? :wink2:

I tweeted Seth Meyers' show last week as soon as I saw they had booked Stromae. I figured if they were going to take a chance on him, maybe they'd be interested in Mika as well. I was so curious to see what Stromae would do last night -- when I heard him singing Papaoutai in French and saw the subtitles I was ecstatic! Like you, I thought that perhaps there would be hope for Mika! So maybe we all need to write/tweet the show again and again! :)

Here's the original vid by the way:

One of Mika's contestants on the Voice did Papaoutai, right? And did one do Tous les memes? Or was Stromae on the show himself? I know I saw a pic of them together.

Several contestants sang Stromae in The Voice..

The pic is from before, they met I think in Belgium a few years ago:wink2:

Yes, one of his girls, Marina, I think, sang Stromae.

Me and my bad English are back :aah:

How could I write something short to ask for Mika's single? In English :mf_rosetinted:

"please can you boadcast Mika's new single? It's called Boum Boum Boum and it's wonderful!"

I feel my sentence is totally wrong and stupid

And if you feel like giving an example of a sentence in Italian, Spanish and German too, please do :wink2:

Unless Scott Mills picks up on it, in the summer he tends to hear tunes on holiday and play them constantly when he comes back. I have tweeted him a few times about BBB, but heard nothing back at all.

I tweeted him as well. Like you, I don't hold out much hope for R1, unless the video gets millions of hits. Let's hope that it does. But Popular Song has millions of hits and it's made no difference.

That's actually a great question, and I was thinking about the same thing. I could request the song to foreign radios if I knew how to write to them correctly.

Maybe "play" instead of broadcast?? but I think it's fine anyway! :thumb_yello:

In Spanish we can say "Podéis poner la última canción de Mika, por favor? Se llama BBB y es realmente genial", for example...

(I should do that, anyway :mf_rosetinted:)

That question would be:

"per favore, potete suonare il nuovo singolo di Mika? Si chiama Boum Boum Boum ed è meraviglioso!"

If you need some more translations, just ask :thumb_yello:

Well, I tell them the song ALSO fits perfect to world cup cause of his rythm and iS good for each party, good for the mood

On Amazon I wrote a criticism in German this way:

Frech, aber nicht dreckig

Ja, es geht um Sex, aber humorig verpackt. Heiße Rhythmen, eine tolle Stimme, geniales Sommer Feeling. Genial gelöst, lets dance.

Means in English that:

naughty, but NOT dirty

Yes, the song is about sex but with a lot of humour. Hot rythm, mixed with a great voice, great summer feeling. Genious solved, lets dance

I don't know if there is already a general thread about this:

I think it would be good to have a list of the most important radio stations in every country where Boum Boum Boum is available, with a way to contact them.

So it will be possible for people who have time and want to do it, to contact the radios in order to ask for BBB to be played on it more often.

I think the more it's played on radio, the more people will buy the single :thumb_yello:

We decided to do it with some French fans, but I think that fans of other countries are doing that also, so maybe it would be good to have a recap for every country here :thumb_yello:

So if you have time you can contact every radio in every country :teehee:

Bad journalist..... Bad. The only similarities I could see between Mika and Stromae was the use of bright colors and general wackiness.

Forgive my ignorance, is Stromae a band or a guy?

I don't like Stromae , I find his songs depressing but he seems to be played a lot...Mika's sad lyrics are ok because his music is joyful but I find both Stromae lyrics and tunes sad...and he sings in French, which has never been my cup of tea , unless the text is really romantic, funny or naughty as for Boum Boum Boum :naughty:

Sent an email to the show tonight. Can't hurt. They obviously aren't afraid to take chances, and I think Mika could be quite well received.

Also Face Booked Sirius/XM. I don't know how much it helps, but at least I feel like I did something.

I'm not very used to what we are doing with BBB and radio so I've got a question:

Is it better to tweet or to send emails / forms to the radios? I'm usually tweeting because it goes faster, but is it as good as email? I'm not sure about it and I'd like to have your opinion :mf_rosetinted:

And also, I still don't know if it's usefull to simply "retweet" someone else tweet to a radio (without quoting or modifying it).

You are completely wasting your time with R1, R2 is the only station that might play the song. Elle Me Dit wasn't played on UK radio, though, and that was a much stronger song than Boum Boum Boum.

I actually prefer BBB. I think it has something EMD didn't have, in terms of appealing to people who don't speak French.

The French lyrics sound really good and the tune is so addictive. It's a complete package.

Radio 2 is okay, but young people who download singles onto MP3s and mobile phones, don't listen to it. They prefer Radio One, thinking that's where the best music is played.

Some of the other singles were on R2 and it didn't help. Mika even did a concert on R2. On Jo Wiley's show, after TOOL came out, and it didn't help at all. So R2 could play the song, but it still might not get into the charts.

Hi dear Freaks!

I really don't have much time to drop by here very often and I rarely post anything, sorry :fish:

I've seen the post of Mélanie on Twitter asking for informations about Belgian radios for the promotion of BoumBoumBoum.

Here are some I just collected (french speaking ones, except for Q-Music which is mainly in Flamish but remember, Mika already did 2 private shows organized by this radio in the past - I did go to one, with some other Freaks from here :mika3:).
