Yes, it depends on what you measure it by. Hotels are also extremely expensive in Paris. Restaurants, however, are cheaper in Paris than in Zurich. I didn't find the supermarkets cheaper in Paris than in Switzerland (and after all, I lived there for 6 months). The assumption that McDonald's is always the cheapest everywhere is wrong. It is extremely expensive in Switzerland. It depends on the supermarket, but you can also buy hot food there and it costs a lot less than McDonald's (or you get a lot more for the money).

Even though I wouldn't call it cheap, I didn't find my hotel in Paris extremely expensive. But I didn't stay in a hotel in Zurich so I can't compare. :teehee: I believe you that there are cheaper options regarding food in Zurich, but when you are in the city center (especially as a tourist who doesn't know the city at all), you don't have many other options than fast food, supermarkets are usually rather on the outskirts.

The problem as a tourist is that you don't know where the cheaper things are. In Zurich, there are many supermarkets, even in the centre. Also at the lower level of the main station. And the prices of things in the supermarket chains are, as far as I know, the same everywhere in Switzerland (unlike in Paris, where supermarket chains have different prices for their things depending on the neighbourhood).

Yes sorry, off topic, since it is Zurich and not Geneva. :ot:

The Migros at the main station are open until 10pm. Migros at other places normally until 8pm. So, to go buy food there after Mika's gig would have been too late. :original:

I'm also really sorry for the off-topic, so this is my last reply - I don't know about festivals (ha, we are back to the main topic!) but at gigs you usually can't bring your own drinks or food at all so sometimes you are forced to buy things late at night for the extremely expensive Swiss prices anyway... :biggrin2: And that was my whole point, I know that as a local you know where to buy things to save money, but as a "gig tourist" you find yourself in situations where you don't have as many options.

Yes, that pretty much sums up the problem as a tourist in Switzerland. :original:

The next time you are in Switzerland, I hope to see you and you can use the 1.40 CHF. :biggrin2:

Well, I think the prices is generally a problem for fans from the no EUR zone post-socialist countries.

For example in Poland the prices (and salaries of course) are 3-4 times lower.

So anything in West Europe is pretty expensive for us. Even a bottle of water. So if we spent 10 EUR for us it's like spending about 30 EUR comparing to the prices in Poland.

Yes, I am aware of this problem. But unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it.

Ha ha ha! You can try :lol3: Maybe your magic will change it ? :lol3:

I can live with it. I am used not to compare prices when I am abroad because if I do it I would live on water only or I would stay at home  :wink2:

LET‘S DO A MINI MFC BOAT TRIP IN GENEVA! On Friday! What do you all say?

I found out that there is a Mouettes genevoises boat transportation.

So we can travel from one place to another with a ticket of 3 CHF for valid for 60 minutes.

3 CHF for 60 minutes not bad, even in Switzerland not everything is expensive. :wink2:

You're starting to know me too well. 😅

But three francs is really not much, is it? Let's hope there's no hitch. :lmfao:

Hmm, like you'd have to paddle by yourself?   Either way, it's still very cheap, you should go for it! :thumb_yello:

It looks like a water bus, so it's possible. It's not a trip boats but just a transportation.

And the ticket can be used as well in buses and tramways.

Fot those who are arriving by plane - there is a free train from the airport to the train station in Geneva.

You need to take the ticket at the airport - there are ticket machines - but you have to do it in the part where you collect your language - before going out the arrival zone. You have 80 minutes  to use it. But it takes about 15 minutes to arrive to the train station .
