  1. Don't think this was posted before: the official video will be released tommorrow at 6 pm CEST. The official title on YouTube says 'feat. Mika', though I suspect he will not be in it.
  2. You are raising interesting points! The production on the new songs is, in my opinion, a bit too crisp/polished/smooth and maybe even too modern. It really fits Sanremo in my opinion but it's less great on songs like Tiny Love. I do appreciate that he's sounding very fresh and new and I think it takes some getting used to in order to embrace the production. The bass and piano version of Ice Cream made me fall in love with the song more by the way.
  3. 'Ready to call this love' is the duet with Jack Savoretti, don't think that was mentioned yet 😁
  4. It has been steadily sitting at number five in the Italian iTunes Chart for the last hours, if this site can be trusted.
  5. Mika will feature on a Dalida tribute album by the famous trumpet player and composer Ibrahim Maalouf. For the album, released on November 17th, Mika covered the song Salma Ya Salama. This is originally an Egyptian song, composed by musician Sayed Darwish for the 1919 play Qulu lu, according to Wikipedia. The lyrics are by Egyptian poet Badi' Khairi. In 1977, Dalida covered it in both Egyptian Arabic and French. Dalida's version can he heard here. More info about this album can be found here.
  6. From Machine Management: Mika’s critically acclaimed album ‘No Place In Heaven’ is to be re-released on the 13th November. The record, described by Pop Matters as ‘his most assured and confident set of tunes since his debut’, is to include the addition of tracks from the Symphonic concerts in Montreal in February as well as the new track ‘Feels Like Love’ and a reworked version of ‘Hurts’. For the Italian version it will also feature the incredibly successful Fedez on the track ‘Beautiful Disaster’ and the equally accomplished Franco Battiato on ‘Centre of Gravity’. Having been mixed by world-renowned mix engineer Frank Filipetti, the album will be released as a stand alone album in Canada, Japan and Korea and as part of the ‘No Place In Heaven Special Edition’ re-pack, which is to be released globally on the 13th November.
  7. Thank you for pointing out that mistake which, I can assure you, is just a typo and not a journalist not knowing his stuff. Only joking, this piece was originally published on one of the largest Dutch news websites AD.nl and I wrote it Objectively, of course (seriously), but sometimes being a fan and journalist go together when looking for subjects to write about BTW please don't quote this message as I will have to edit it, not because I do not want anyone to know I'm a fan (everyone I know does know), but because it would look wrong professionally because I wrote this (though it isn't, I went through all necessary journalistic practices to write it.)
  8. After I couldn't go to both the concert back in 2009 and the showcase this year this will be my first Mika concert! I'm so very excited! This might be a stupid question, but this is my first time and I was wondering if Mika usually comes out to meet fans (some time) after his shows?
  9. Yes, I have, thanks! Eagerly awaiting a reply.
  10. I missed out on the tickets for Mika's show in Paradiso in The Netherlands on October 27th and I would VERY much like to have one. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
  11. Couldn't go to the Concertgebouw in 2009, missed out on tickets for Paradiso (because I didn't have internet access. Gutted about this!) so I very much want to go to this. Haven't received anything yet, though.
  12. Hello! I am so sorry for replying so late to the message you sent me earlier! I hardly have time to be very active on the boards, but I do read and check up on here every now and again. How are you? I am indeed a boy, haha! There aren´t many male Mika fans out there but here I am. I love how talented he is, in so many ways. Seeing him live on DVD for the first time a couple of years ago was one of the first times I was actually touched by a DVD live performance.

So how are you, and (this may sound strange) who are you? Looking forward to hearing from you. Like the profile pic btw ;)

  13. I still haven´t been able to get my hands on that promo CD with Mika´s version on it. Really wonder what it sounds like!
  15. I don´t think they did - they just said they´ll be back next year. What a performance already! Great first TV one for WAG. Love the choir in WAG, but the I personally missed the ending as it was on his MySpace (album version I guess). Love the renewed intro and sound in 'Big Girl'! Very well done, very fresh! Don´t mean to insult him at all but that thing he´s wearing (don´t even know the English word for it?) shouldn´t be allowed. Not sure about the make-up either xD
  16. I must say I have never seen a video this camp, over the top and from the sort only one artist can get away with. Truly unique, very well done but a bit too much 'gay'-ish for me who´s not gay (though there is absolutely nothing wrong with that).
  17. Nice service that is, isn´t it? I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the performances from other artists will also be broadcasted? (like Sophie Ellis-Bextor´s some days earlier)
  18. They really do, don´t they! They always get the first play of vids from popular artists. And the channel can hardly be received outside the UK. So I hope someone will record it, then:rolls_eyes:
  19. I was wondering that, too! It is very nice, so maybe this´ll be the cover for the 12''/7''?
  20. *Is ashamed and hides his face behind his hands* I did actually - am so ashamed I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder. I like the fact he hasn´t played it during the tour - quite the surprise for everyone when it´ll premiere on the radio:mf_rosetinted:
  21. Wow! Great news! Way earlier than expected. What a title for a song that is, wonder what the song is about exactly. Some Dutch music magazine ('Off the record') wrote everyone will be singing along to WAG by the end of this year - ´cause they think it´s amazing. Can´t wait!
  22. I hope you all allow me to open a thread about the lovely Sophie Ellis-Bextor:biggrin2: Now that the holidays have started, I hope to have more time to be on here, ´cause I´ve been experiencing 'problems' to keep up with you guys: I´m not used to posting on a forum with so many members online at the same time talking about concerts they attended about half an hour ago sometimes:wink2: So, for those of you who don´t know her yet, her bio in a nutshell: Sophie Ellis-Bextor (30) started her musical career back in 1997 when she was in a band called Theaudience. They had little success in the UK and won the Alternative Eurovision Song Contest with their single 'A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed'. In 1999, just after having recorded many songs for their second album, the band split up. Sophie was a model for a couple of months but then teamed up with DJ Spiller for their single 'Groovejet'. After that, in 2001, Sophie was very successfull all over Europe with her singles from her first album including 'Get Over You' and 'Murder On The Dancefloor'. In 2003, her second album was released. Blonde Sophie released two singles from the album 'Shoot From The Hip' and had to postpone her tour because of her first pregnancy. She took some months of to take care of her son and about 2 and a half years to write her third album 'Trip The Light Fantastic', featuring the hit single 'Catch You'. TTLF was successfull in the UK and Eastern Europe mostly, because the new label Fascination Records (by Polydor) Sophie had joined apparently did not make it possible for her to promote her songs all over Europe. After TTLF another tour was announced and later postponed because she wanted to release a GH first. Recording the GH, Sophie thought she had recorded so many nice songs, she could go and release a 4th album instead. That album was planned for February this year, but then Sophie gave birth to her second baby boy more than 2 months early. Her collaboration with the Freemasons, 'Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)' is out now and currently # 15 in the UK Charts. Her 4th album is due for release this autumn. Oh BTW: Sophie will be on BBC1 this saturday, on Totally Saturday with Graham Norton:wink2:
Thanks!
  24. Wow they signed some great artists! I already knew Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be there, but I already thought the line up wasn´t fully complete:wink2:
  25. I bought this book a while ago in Amsterdam But basically, the music in the book´s wrong, the lyrics are not exactly right and Mika didn´t know about this book being published, right? Ha! But it´s still a nice book, obviously.
