...you can add "Killer Queen"

I wanted to avoid it, to tell you the truth..

If I do, I can add Fleetwood Mac's Everywhere, too. He almost covered it, anyway:naughty:

Otherwise, it's nice to hear from you again. Hope to meet soon again in London - I mean I hope there will be some concerts soon worth flying over to.:mf_rosetinted:

It's not my dyslexia just my lack of Italian. :naughty:

He's mentioned Feist and David Usher when asked about which Canadian musicians he liked. I will try to find the interview. If anyone else finds it before me - that'd be awesome.

I Want candy was played before gigs, as was everywhere.

Didn't he cover Justin Timberlakes Sexyback in one of the US gigs?

I think he covered it at the Montreal gig? (28th January 2008)

I think it was along with "When doves cry"...Is is already on the list?

As there are several threads on what other artists you like, I thought it might be a good idea to collect Mika’s favourite music / musicians on one thread in case you want to check out any names unknown to you.

(It would be similar to the A-list MFC thread, so additional names are welcome, these are only names that first came to my mind)

Rules: only 'documented mentions’ count

I., Influences: The Beatles, Queen, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Harry Nilsson, Kurt Weill, David Bowie, Serge Gainsbourg, Joa Baez, Beck, Gioacchino Rossini ( :biggrin2: )

II., Other favourite musicans: Amy Whinehouse, Rufus Wainwright, Annie Lennox, Calvin Harris, Adele, the Scissor Sisters, Paolo Conte, INXS, Lily Allen, Duffy, Beth Ditto, the Pet Shop Boys, Littleboots, Bodies Without Organs, Yelle, Tiny Dancers, Ting Tings, Tegan and Sara, Lady GaGa, Imogen Heap, The National, Arcade Fire, Nellie Mckay, Feist, David Usher, Moloko

III., Songs he has ever picked as favourites (from musicians not mentioned above)

Dolly Parton 9 to 5

Yael Naim: New Soul

Blur: Country HouseNelli Furtado: Maneater

Yazzoo: Only You

Fleetwood Mac: Everywhere

MGMT: Kids

Kate Nash: Pumpkin soup

Edith Piaf: Milord

Grace Jones: Pull Up To The Bumper

Gwen Guthrie: Ain't nothing Going On But the RentFleet Foxes: Ragged Wood

Of Montreal: Gronlandic Edit

Beirut: Nantes

(please help with this one, eg. other songs he played before concerts)

IV., Originals of songs he has already covered:

Harry Nilsson: Everybody’s Talking

Nina Simone: Ain’t Got No / I Got Life

Police: Can’t Stand Losing You

Massive Attack: Teardrop

Dave Matthews Band: Satellite

Depeche Mode: Just Can’t Get Enough

Candy Station: You Got the Love

Eurythmics: Sweet Dreams

The Jackson 5: I Want You Back

Shakira: Hips Don’t Lie

The Proclaimers: 500 miles (-are we sureabout this??)

Marc Cohen: Walking In Memphis

Eurythmics: Missionary Man

The Strangeloves : I Want Candy

"partly covered":

The View: Same Jeans

Cornershop: Brimful of Asha

Los del Rio: Macarena

I really don't know that he mentioned the half of this. Never read/heard :lol3:

Where exactly did you find all those imformations? I bolded the ones I haven't heard of in pink.

About Nelly Furtado, I only know for "All Good Things", not "Maneater"

This is what I have to add:

Song: Michael Jackson "Man In The Mirror"

Artists: Igor Strawinski, Mozart, Bob Dylan, PRINCE, he likes arrabic music too...

So yes you can say he likes her music.. right?:naughty: Or maybe just Alfie...:roftl:

We just know about The Proclaimers from the press:

<<I think it was probably Ibiza. Yeh! I had hardly any voice, this was a couple of months ago now, and it was my first ever pop gig with a full band, it was at five fifteen in the morning and it was at Manumission with the jungle crowd after the topless women being chased by the midgets and I went on…

We sang the first song and I was kind of excited and I jumped up, but as I landed I jammed one of the pedals so we were stuck. There’s all these people completely out of their heads in front of me and I really didn’t know what to do, so I just started singing folk songs and Proclaimers covers! (laughs)

But now it’s an in-joke with my band, if ever anything goes wrong we just start singing Proclaimers songs cause we don’t know what else to do!>>

-------------------

<<Take this weekend, for instance. "I was doing Manumission in Ibiza, and went onstage at 5am in the morning. It went amazingly well. Watching people dance to my music is probably one the best moments of the past year," he beams, flashing a Colgate-white smile.

Tragedy struck, however, "when I accidentally smashed one of the cables." Quelle horreur! "I didn't know what to do so I (wait for it) ended up singing I Would Walk 5,000 Miles by The Proclaimers. The crowd went mental." >>

----------------------

(Dingwalls)

<<His sometimes off-key falsetto has me fearing for the mirrors on the walls, and the jokey cover of the Proclaimers' "500 Miles" (coupled with the drummer's deely-boppers) tickles my Irony Detector slightly, but when you hear the hysterical skylarking chorus of "Grace Kelly", or the brain-snagging hook of "Lollipop", you're not gonna care.">>

(Dingwalls)

<<One high spot came when an anonymous audience member yelled at Marti to sing the famous Proclaimers song. They dutifully did so - but not knowing any of the words, it descended into a shambles that left everyone laughing.>>

The Proclaimers: 500 miles (-are we sureabout this??)

Surely not :naughty:

I'm not sure about this one either. I absolutely love the song and Mka would absolutely nail it! But I haven't seen or heard anything about him covering the song.
