Mika at Peugeot Private Concert in Paris - 3 December 2012

But I disagree with you about bigger venues. When he did the Balloon thing this summer, the venue was setting up in a field. You could not get bigger, impersonal and plain. I've watched the last 4-5 songs of the show from behind (my dauhter was not so keen at the front row experience) and I saw the interaction he had with this huge crowd. It was very incredible to witness :wub2:

The Balloon festival must have been quite special! I saw some pics and those balloons looked amazing!! But I think you misunderstood me. Some of my top Mika gigs are from big venues, like Lyon 2010 (more than 15 000 people, if I remember right). One of the BEST shows I've ever seen. And he was performing at the Paleo festival 2011 the day Amy Winehouse died (she had cancelled that one) and the contact with the MASSIVE audience was absolutely incredible. He can have an amazing contact with big audiences indeed, and it doesn't matter if the venue is boring or beautiful.

What I tried to say is that smaller venues are often very _different_ compared to each other. I like to watch how he is interested in the venues he performs. For example during the latest tour the Copenhagen venue was very stylish (he was chatty and talked about the venue and his local friends), the Munich venue casual (hot and T-shirt style) and Casino de Paris a fancy theater (he had new fancy outfits for both nights :teehee:). I liked it how the mood was a bit different every time (but well, in the end it was always a party though, lol).

I hope he won't start making music based on market research...
:lmfao: ..glad you understand and rephrase so well what I wrote about.

about the stories behind mika's songs, whether the music video tells it, or mika does it in interviews, i don't care. i just think that people might be able to relate more to his songs / to him if they knew the stories.

yes, it is true in all cases. Most people need guidance in interpretation. And it is true most pop stars now use stories to try to put some meaning behind any cheesy pop song.It is good to have a story for the press. However, if people just don't get at all what the song is about or get the completely opposite meaning, there is something wrong with the way the message is conveyed.

he said after the gig in munich that he'll come back when he's "invited" - meaning by the promotion agency, or record company or whatever... so that sounded to me like he'd like to do more gigs here, or more often, but he doesn't get the chance.

yes, that's how he tends to respond to all queries about his future performances now. I am not sure how it can help. You may encourage people to invite him but you can't buy the tickets: the demand needs to be there.

Well, it was an exaggerative expression and not meant to rephrase anyone's exact words, I hope someone got my point anyway :wink2:

@Kumazz Thanks for posting the pics! The piano looks very modern??! And the teaser makes me want to see more, this kind of gig is something VERY special :wub2:

oh good. I just wanted to disassociate myself from such simplistic summary of the discussion that seemed to refer to my post. I am pretty sensitive about misinterpreting my thoughts, even unintentionally :wink2:

I didn't quote anyone on purpose, partly because I was too lazy to look for some earlier posts with my slow mobile connection (there was earlier discussion with Karin and Annie etc) and partly because I didn't want to make a direct connection with any exact quotes and my expressions. So don't worry, everyone can see and understand your full post :thumb_yello:
