Mika @ Place du Casino, Monaco - MONTE CARLO - FREE CONCERT- 29 August 2015

If I were six foot tall, I would probably be okay with a few rows back, but being five foot,  and usually getting stuck behind way taller people than myself, is my main reason for attempting front row.

And since everyone and their mother at concerts these days have their arms up with cameras and phones, taking pics and videos, doesn't make it any easier.

Same here Rose. :teehee:

Mika would save us a lot of stress and argument if he just performed at seated venues..... or maybe not. :wink2:

I'm agree with you girls... The first row is always a great occasion to have more contact with the singer but most of the time you can't move properly as you wish since you're "compressed" like a sardine among lot of people and then you've to make hours and hours of queue, you get anxious, tired and at the end you don't enjoy the gig and you stay there in the first row with one though "when will it end?"

Btw, since I'm not interested in queue at gigs if I can make it, I would be very happy to meet all of you

I would live to Robi... Especially if you are going! But when I checked the flights they were crazy prices so I can't unfortunately :(

:) I agree with you ladies, and I always  avoid queueing, if possible.  Even it's nice to meet, and share some time,  with other fans of the artist performing, it's mostly boring to spend a lot of time at a little spot, outside of the arena  ;)

I love seated venues, the last I had this way, was a great Katy Perry show, from a distance,  with perfect view, just lovely!  That's also why I loved the OSM gigs so much!  We all had our seats,  and therefore no queueing, but a really relaxed time,  close to the concert start - no arms in the air with cameras, taking away the sight - no screaming during the songs, just full attention to what was going on onstage - perfect!    :thumb_yello:     I think it's funny that MIKA now will give a free outdoor concert in Monte Carlo, it surely will be a very lively one, with dancing, singing along - and everything :)  Maybe he'll meet the royal twins, during his stay :wink2:   It looked like the family of Grace Kelly had a lovely eve with our MIKA, during the Roseball last year... :teehee:   Anyway, everybody going to Monaco - have a great day, with a lot of fun!! I do hope you'll get many of the new songs... :fisch:

Love,love

I'm tempted to see this one, I haven't seen a gig in Monaco. I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities for Mika to perform there in the future but can't know when is the next one for me to see him there, it's such a fancy place. Anyone going to Nice direction after the show? There are busses and trains to Monaco during day time but seems a bit difficult to get out of there late hour, a taxi is probably the only (and expensive) option.

In Swizerland befor XFactor we were queueing maximum 1 hour befor the doors opening even for festival.

Actually this is not true at all... Take last time Mika came at Paleo festival for instance (2011, I think), people started queuing since the morning even though it already made no sense at all at that time as "local people" will never do that. Back at that time there were people coming from everywhere already, mostly Italy, Germany and France as Switzerland is very close to those countries, but the only thing those people had in common was that they were all "active" mikafans (I mean people taking part on forums, etc...). It had nothing to do with where they came from...

What happened this year at Caribana or Estivale is exactly the same. The only thing changing is the number of people coming early as Xfactor and The Voice created a massive amount of "new" fans who only follow the examples they have coming from "old" hardcores fans....(I don't like this battle between old and new fans btw but it's the best way I've found to explain my point).

A lot of people posting in this thread participate in the "fanatic" queuing which makes you just as fanatic as every other fan who does this. Everyone shows up at the same time for the same reasons.

I am not judging anyone because I have been involved in competitive queuing. But as long as everyone keeps pointing the fingers at other fans it will never change and you'll have no one to blame but yourselves. if you decide to queue the night before a gig you are 100% responsible for that decision and can't claim to be any more rational than the other people in the queue with you.

I would not queue overnight. Ever. I do not queue more than a couple of hours anymore and I intend to never do it again. Rather than complaining about it I would advise people to consider making this choice themselves if they really find this crazy and intolerable. Especially people who have seen Mika and will continue to see Mika a million timea. If young Italians who can't afford to travel and were not around to see Mika 50 times in 2010 want front row then back off and let them have it. I mean when is enough enough?

I totally agree with this Christine. I've been part of the competitive queuing too and it happened that I went to some venues around 5 am because I was so obsessed with the idea of being front row and most of all because it seemed absolutely normal to do so as everyone was... Then, after one of Bercy gig in Paris, I've had a little "private mika moment" when he came out of the venue to see us and asked me directly how I was when he saw me. It was the first (and the last) time Mika spontaneously spoke directly to me and the only answer he got from me is " I'm F****g tired" because that was how I felt. I was up since 4 am, danced and sang all along the gig and when I got the chance to have my little moment with him I ruined it because my only obsession at that time was sleeping ><.

Anyway, I'm telling this story because this "incident" really helped me to realize how stupid my behavior was. I promised myself that I would never ever wake up at stupid o'clock in the morning for a gig, never. This is my personal decision, as a free thinking individual and I won't blame anyone else for that. Now I enjoy the shows even more because I'm relax, in a top form and so happy to have the chance to be there. Of course even now I would sometimes love being front row, mostly because this way I would be with some old "Mika friends" to enjoy the fun and because I loved the little eye contact I could have from Mika when I was first row, but if this means waking up stupidly early and not enjoying seeing him as much as I want, then I won't do it. It's a choice each of us has to make.

If some people here do also find it stupid and crazy to start queuing in the middle of the night (or even the day before a gig) and start a gig being exhausted because of the lack of sleep and the horribly long day you just had, than just make a choice and don't do it yourself instead of blaming others for acting this way...

I can't come to this concert. But I just want to warned Italian fans that this Monaco and laws are really stricts. Nobody is allowed to sleep in public space or to go camping or to sleep in a car. You will finished at the police office and have to pay for the infraction.

I'll be in Montecarlo for this Mika's concert and I agree with you! I'm italian but I hate the insane fanatism exaggerated! I hope that it'll be quit, so quit like Nyon! I was there! A wonderful concert! And not like Cattolica or Fabrique! I was there too! Mika was incredible but not the fans!

MIKA AND MURRAY HEAD MAKING MAGIC IN MONACO

https://lasouffleusedemots.wordpress.com/2015/08/22/mika-and-murray-head-making-magic-in-monaco/

Des concerts gratuits et des grandes stars pour terminer l’été à Monaco!  Some free concerts and some big stars to end the summer in Monaco!

The Place du Casino in Monte-Carlo will once again be transformed into an open-air dance floor with free concerts this August.

This will be the third summer that Monte-Carlo SBM has opened up the Place du Casino for its Casino Nights à Ciel Ouvert. We can already safely bet that the upcoming event is not going to disappoint with two big names of the international music scene on the programme: Mika and Murray Head.

It all kicks off on Saturday the 29th August at 9pm with harmonica virtuoso Charles Pasi showing the audience why he was THE jazz sensation at this year’s Juan Les Pins festival. He will pave the way for one of the biggest star of the moment: pop sensation Mika who is scheduled to take the stage at 10pm.

After hitting the big time a few years ago with the multi-million selling debut Life in Cartoon Motion and subsequent albums The Boy who Knew Too Much and The Origin of Love, the flamboyant American-Lebanese singer has just released his fourth record No Place in Heaven, a well-crafted effort that has already reached No. 1 in France and Italy. Produced by Gregg Wells, the man behind Katy Perry, Adele, Pharrell Williams and Rufus Wainwright’s success, this more mature album is the perfect showcase for Mika’s amazing vocals and great song writing abilities.

And if that was not enough, the magical evenings under the stars continue a month later with English singer Murray Head on 26th September. Famous for his hit songs “Say it ain’t so”, “One Night in Bangkok” and “Lady in Red”, the singer and occasional actor who has always been hugely popular in France, will present his latest opus, My Back Pages.

Two international musicians playing for free under the stars in a beautiful location….the summer in Monaco is definitely glorious!

Casino Night Under the Stars Dance takes place on 29th of August and 26th of September 2015 with free concerts and animations in the Place du Casino in Monte-Carlo.

I think I've seen some familiar names among the winners of VIP passes  :thumb_yello:

I didn't win. I wonder if the VIP area is directly in front of stage so it's not possible to see anything without a pass. Sigh. Where can you see the winners?

Still no luck  :( They have given away a lot of passes and it looks to me that practically everyone else I know have won except me or Saskia.

It seems that the Exclusive Dance Floor is situated not in the very front stage, but aside.

A girl who knows the place told me, so it's not a direct info, but quite.

So, people who didn't win, don't despair, front row is still there waiting for you :das: .
