I wouldn´t even say that it´s standarsished pop... or at least not the kind of pop that Rihanna or any of those who are always #1 make. And those who are following that pop, they are not going to buy Mika´s album... IMO (maybe I´m wrong and he´s going to crash the charts ). Mika has his own audience, and his label should work so that we are happy and keep on buying his albums. So, Celebrate is not the best option now that we´ve listened to several songs... I've been like this for TBWKTM too, I haven't liked WAG or Rain completely, honestly. Nothing will compare LICM as surprise effects, originality and amazingness But I loved the second album too, and I picked up my favourites. Probably it will be the same with the third one. I don't think it's counterproductive. Many people buy songs because they sound like other songs around ( explaining the very repetitive nature of chart music) or because everyone else buys them. They are unlikely to buy the entire album. Mika puts a song out, hopefully a hit, which loads of people buy, from which he gets money and people hear about him. That way, he can carry on making mikamusic for his fans. But yeah, see what you mean, MYH and Celebrate are much more mainstream ( and IMHO less good) than TOOL, Lola and Underwater. This has confused me. Is the album going to be more mainstream or alternative? Anyway, Lola sounds good until the drums come in, then all I can hear is thud,thud,thud. T4P anyway!
