Hi,I'll just do a quick report now as I'd like to clarify a couple of points that I read, and give a different perspective to some things that have been said. I found that it was a really good gig, and really, it wasn't such a big deal.

I'll try not to repeat things that have already been said, but all in all we had a great day spending time with everyone, and to top it all up the gig at midnight.

We all made it to the front (by looking like total morons standing in front of the barrier for 3 full hours since they opened the doors to the club :biggrin2:), so we had a really good view. The stage is tiny there, and the barrier was really close to the stage, so all in all it was like being more or less on stage. To those who were there, it was a lot like NY but in a different shape (this one being longer and more rectangular in shape)

The crowd were quite into it (as you'd expect from the place, and from a midnight show where people had been drinking for hours), but in no way did I find this crowd any rowdier than many other gigs (Mika gigs included) that I've been to. Yes, there are always a couple of idiots, but that happens every time. Where I was today, I didn't see or experience any more pushing or any other unpleasant events than I have seen in the past.

Mika was REALLY loving it, you could see how happy he was to be there again, and how he enjoyed it. It's hard to explain, but if I had to recap it all, in a nutshell I'd say that he felt truly at home there. The fact that he started the gig saying that he'd been going to the Popstarz nights since he was 15 years old was an incredible 'confession' which I was very happy to hear. Really, it's all out there for anyone to see and come to their own conclusions, but IMO it's now in black and white. He's told us. And I really love the fact that he's done it, that he's so happy and confident that he finds that he can just be himself. I love him even more for this now.

Anyway, gigwise it was a bit shorter than a normal gig, but it was fantastic. The stage was very low, the place tiny and rocking, and Mika was loving the interaction with the audience. If I have to say one thing, it would be that I felt a bit like an intruder in a way-Like we (the 'regular hardcore' fans) weren't meant to be there, as this was his special night with his Popstarz boys. It just felt that way. Mika made a massive point of making tons of eye contact with the guys in the audience (it was 90 percent gay guys, obviously), and he kept touching their hands, etc...So, in a way, it felt like us (the fans who go everywhere) had infiltrated this gig when it was meant to be this little thing for them, in their own place, if that makes any sense?

In any case it was really viby and the whole place was rocking. We saw his family all looking on proudly, and Alexander was really getting into it just behind us. Andy was also around, and just in general everyone who's a regular at these gigs :roftl:.

Now the stage invasion. I may not be popular for saying this, but I think that the whole problem here stems from the fact that it was not meant to be a stage invasion. Mika usually beckons people to get on the stage 'en masse' when he wants them to invade.

Tonight he did not.

He personally picked a couple of guys and pulled them up by their hands. He didn't wave at us to get onto the stage. But after he'd pulled the two or three boys up, a couple of people (MFC'ers) jumped onto the stage, and then it was mayhem and a free for all, where some were trying to get his attention, hug him, etc... If these people hadn't gotten up there (when IMHO, it was clear that we weren't meant to go up), I think that things would have remained a lot more controlled and he would have just stayed there with the 3 guys that he had personally pulled up.

Anyway, what's done is done, but maybe we can take it into account for future gigs. Just read the signs. If he's not asking us to invade, let's not do it. Why do we have to randomly jump on stage? He makes it very clear when he wants people to do it by waving, so if he's not doing it and instead he's pulling individuals up, let's take the hint, I say.

About the people who sort of pulled him up off his feet, to be honest, it didn't really look that dangerous or like Mika was horrified. It was all very fast and they quickly put him down, so I don't know if it was really that big a deal. I think that it was just a matter of a lot of chaos on the stage at the same time and maybe it looked worse because of that? Of course I'm not Mika so I have no idea of how it felt for him, but this is how it looked from my perspective.

In my opinion, the fact of actually invading the stage was a lot worse. Anyway, it was a great gig despite this, and by no means any rowdier than others. It always just depends on where you are, as different people at the same gig have different experiences, but for me it was really good. The boys around us were very excited and it was very cute to see. Some of them had never seen him before and witnessing their amazement at him was really :wub2:

I'm complitely with you on this ... I'm very happy for him ... Go Mika :thumb_yello:

Thanks for the report!

:bye:

Have no time to upload anything yet ... have to be in work soon :aah: Only have two vids ... Relax and half of Big Girl ... yet again ... couldn't film cos' I just wanted to enjoy the show - don't know why I take my camera .. I barely ever use it :lmfao:

The show was absolutely amazing :wub2: I can't even describe how he makes me feel when I watch him on stage ... he is beyond amazing, awesome and all those superlatives that I could use - it definitely was Lady Gaga sat on my face .... Agree with Kevin about Happy Ending ... :swoon: His voice just makes me go :aah: He did seem completely in his element .... and it brought the best out of him .... about the stage invasion - I did see him nearly hit barrier ... I don't know how close it was or how bad it was from where I was ... I was Martin's side at the barrier .... but I did see some stupid girl just as he tried to exit the stage ... literally grab hold of his arm and try and drag him back - she'd only just got on stage I think ... utter prat ... cos' she was quite vicious .... I had more problem with that then what I saw earlier ... and he was hugging and high fiving people after the barrier incident ...

Was lovely to meet MFC'ers again .... :boing:

Cazgirl, Danika and Jennie ... was lovely to meet you ... you're such sweet girls ... you three are a hoot .... you had me in stitches in our room. Can't wait to see some of those video's you took .... glad the music was a hit ....

Kath and Silver ... was lovely to see both of you again ... thanks for a lovely meal out ... and glad we finally got to watch something decent on that music channel ... (they played WAG while we were waiting for dinner :wub2:)

Marianne ... sorry that I didn't really speak to you - bad timing when you arrived as we were just going for lunch ... and didn't really see you much after ... hope you enjoyed your stay with us .... :thumb_yello:

Sari, Babs, Jemma, Sarahlou, Mikafish, Buttons, Tiibet, Sparkly - hope I haven't forgotten anyone ... lovely to properly meet most of you finally .... didn't really speak to you before ... glad I have now ... enjoyed the bar :huglove:

I'll upload stuff after I get back home tonight .... :)

I agree with sariflor...

I know it wasn't a mystery ... at least not to me... but I do think it was his coming out gig... no doubt about it... even a blind dog can see the message he was trying to get across to his gay fans.. he was very much in his element and felt like he belonged there... really a very good gig...

Andy was there, he was standing next to me..

and I have uploaded the video with the fans onstage... I agree with sariflor again, I did not see anything out of the ordinary - he did not look uncomfortable... well, you watch it and be the judge...

- End of The concert (Grace Kelly + Lollipop and the stage with his fans)

I think it was a very intimate and almost a "thank you" gig to the gay community ... to his good old days when he used to go there himself as a teenager... it was a very special performance... I would even compare it to his performance in Beirut... :wub2:

The gig is not a regular one... it was in a gay nightclub.. and those who haven't been to a gay nightclub before might find the scene a little" different" ... I personally love the freedom, the attitude, the whole vibe...

It wasn't a mistery to me either :naughty:, at all, I've been (like many) sure about his orientation from the start, but I loved the fact that he wasn't hiding it and that he was making such a big public point of it.

I just don't have words to say how happy that made me, to see how he's so open about it now. Like he says, it's all out there for anyone to see.

If you wanna see it :teehee: I kinda hope this will at least once and for all stop the random shoootings of anyone who dares to say gay in public in here :aah:

Fro Caz's Facebook:

Thought mika was amazing as usual but is DISGUSTED and LIVID at the way fans on stage treated him during lollipop! They were all over him and one idiot tried to pick him up unsuccessfully and mika was bent backwards and his head nearly hit the barrie...rs rite by us. We tried to do what we could to save him, he was unhurt and sara has it on video. Shocking and horrifying behaviour, they should be ashamed.

:boxed::furious:

It's like I've always said. These stage invasions are not a good idea! God forbid he should get hurt by some nutcase! Not all fans are like us, some of them are psychos and Mika could be putting himself in danger!

Just when we thought it was impossible to love him more than we did already... :wub2: It makes me seriously happy to see that everyone surrounding him and following him to the gigs makes him feel comfortable like this. Thanky you guys :huglove:

That's what I thought too :roftl:

She kind of is one though

*is done being a bitch* :naughty:

I had the absolute same thought and I was looking for a word for the phenomenon but so far I haven't found one!:naughty:

Let's think about it, there has to be something to describe this speciality!:roftl:

And there we have why Mika seemed to feel so comfortable in her company!:teehee:

Thanks for all the fantastic pics and vids! Sounds like it was quite a special gig. :wub2:

As for the ending; I too was horrified when I heard about what happened, and I still cringe at the mental image of Mika's head nearly hitting a barrier. :tears:

That said, I've watched

, and from this particular angle it doesn't look all that bad. In all honesty, I this vid makes it look like the
were rowdier. To me, it looks like a couple guys got carried away and had the idea that Mika might want to crowd surf, and thought they'd help him out with that. :roftl:

In fact, it looks like the problem wasn't that there were too many people on the stage; rather, that there weren't enough people behind him to support him, hence why he started falling backward.

Again, from this video, it almost looks like Mika was sort of into the idea until he nearly lost his balance. Watch his body language moments before they scoop him up; seems like he was having fun, getting into the atmosphere.

I mean, clearly this sort of thing isn't the safest practice ever, and it doesn't seem to be commonplace in Mikaland, given that Mika crowds are usually a bit, well, "fluffier" than other crowds. But it seems to be pretty common for other artists.

Of course, I wasn't there, and this is only my observation based on that one clip. You can't see how close he was to the barrier, or his expression, so it's really hard to say. :dunno:

Mika was REALLY loving it, you could see how happy he was to be there again, and how he enjoyed it. It's hard to explain, but if I had to recap it all, in a nutshell I'd say that he felt truly at home there. Anyway, gigwise it was a bit shorter than a normal gig, but it was fantastic. The stage was very low, the place tiny and rocking, and Mika was loving the interaction with the audience. It makes perfect sense!

Thank you for you honest and very emotional report Sara!

Okay...this is the first time I'm crying when I'm reading a gig report!:blush-anim-cl:

Happy tears...very happy tears!

Thanks for the reports and I'm kind of glad in way that he has confirmed certain things even if it was only to a few hundred people, he seems alot more comfortable lately with it anyway. The stage invasion doesn't look that bad from what I saw on Racha's video, Mika didn't seem that bothered by it, but IMO I think they should stop before he does get hurt, there are some nutters out there and it's only a matter of time before something bad happens.:sneaky2:

Glad everyone had a good time :thumb_yello:

Hi,

The fact that he started the gig saying that he'd been going to the Popstarz nights since he was 15 years old was an incredible 'confession' which I was very happy to hear. Same here. Not that it has ever been a point of interest to me though, honestly. But I was just so happy to see him so comfortable!!! I didn't expect him to ever be so open about it. And I love him even more now, if possible:wub2:

If I have to say one thing, it would be that I felt a bit like an intruder in a way-Like we (the 'regular hardcore' fans) weren't meant to be there, as this was his special night with his Popstarz boys. It just felt that way.

Mika made a massive point of making tons of eye contact with the guys in the audience (it was 90 percent gay guys, obviously), and he kept touching their hands, etc...So, in a way, it felt like us (the fans who go everywhere) had infiltrated this gig when it was meant to be this little thing for them, in their own place, if that makes any sense?

Still I didn't feel like an intruder at all. The more colourful his audience is, the better and I always had a feeling everybody was welcome so please let's not make boundaries here.

I don't agree. He must know that once the first person enters the stage, others will follow and he feels and definitely felt comfortable about it. IMHO he pulled in the first few guys to give them recognition but again, let's not make boundaries. Everybody on stage, including myself had a great time (although I saw Mika's hand being pulled constantly, I have to admit emotions are grand once you're there:aah:)

Mika usually beckons people to get on the stage 'en masse' when he wants them to invade.

Tonight he did not.

But from my perspective it was all so quick - he did not have to encourage people the same as he did at iTunes because from the first moment he started pulling them himself and saw others followed - what would be the point of beckoning? The stage was really small, especially with all the decorations, drag queens, baloons - quite crowdy - in a positive way!

[About the people who sort of pulled him up off his feet, to be honest, it didn't really look that dangerous or like Mika was horrified.

From my perspective(I was right behind him at that moment) it looked as if he did it himself - a kind of attempt to dive the crowd. He was lifted up very quickly though and looked very relaxed, smiled throughout and seemed to have a great time!

In my opinion, the fact of actually invading the stage was a lot worse.

No, no, no! Nothing bad in it, great fun, something that always happens at gigs, I don't feel guilty, danced with all the guys, we were all so friendly to each other and I'd most definitely do it again (within reason)

Thanks for the reports, pics, vids.. I personally love the jewel/make-up/thing:teehee: I always love stuff like that, all about the glitter :teehee:

...So, in a way, it felt like us (the fans who go everywhere) had infiltrated this gig when it was meant to be this little thing for them, in their own place, if that makes any sense?

I completely understand and think I would have felt the same way if I were there.

I think it was a very intimate and almost a "thank you" gig to the gay community ... to his good old days when he used to go there himself as a teenager... it was a very special performance... I would even compare it to his performance in Beirut... :wub2:

That's so sweet :wub2:

I gotta say I would love to go to a gay nightclub, I have this vision and it looks pretty great in my head :teehee: A bit like you describe: very free, great vibe...

thanx for the reports, pix and videos! great to hear that everyone had such a good time! :thumb_yello: what irritated me a bit though was what sara mentioned about the feeling that the gig was meant only for the gays, not for the "usual hardorce fans" - if it was just to get the message across that he's gay, ok, but i don't like the idea that he makes certain parts of the audience (no matter who it is) feel like they're out of place there. :dunno:

@violet: yes! and proud of it! :naughty: *wants the knitting thread back*
