Hello!

I just wanted to take a moment to post who I am and how I came to discover Mika.

I'm from the Midwestern part of the USA and am 34 years old. I used to work as a manager at a call center for a major wireless cell phone carrier - was employed there for six years. I would still be employed there if I wasn't on leave due to End Stage Renal Disease and being on dialysis.

A friend of a friend mentioned Mika to me one night when I was looking for music for my three hour drives (one way) to see my specialists. The first song I ever heard was Rain, and I immediately fell in love! Happy Ending was next, and shortly there after I ended up downloading all of his albums off iTunes and fell in love with each and every song!

I have a Mika only playlist on my iPod for driving purposes! Three hours in the car one way is a bit much to drive weekly, and I find his music just puts me in the right mood.... especially after having my appointments up there and driving home! It just totally gets me back into a happy mood. I am sure people think I am strange as the music is cranked up, if it's nice out, windows are down, and I am singing at the top of my lungs! It may look strange, but it is my therapy and keeps me happy.

In December I finally had to start dialysis, and I find Mika's songs to help me through that too. Once I am on the machine, I turn on my iPod, put on my headphones and tune out of the world for a while and just listen to his music.

I have to say I am really impressed with his musical talent. I was going to be a music major as I was always great at music (played oboe and piano - had a scholarship to go to a local university), but majored in a science/math field instead (long story - my high school teachers wanted me to find a "real major" - something I regret doing now), but I love his dynamics and how he has phrasing in his music, and his harmonies are wonderful. I am totally in love with his music and his talent! I am so glad he is out there and sharing his talent with the world as he is truly talented! (Can I say talent once more? )

I am sorry that I didn't know of him, and missed his USA tour a while ago and hope he will come back to the states sometime soon. I know I will be first in line to buy tickets, as long as I am still healthy enough to do so!

I do have a quick question, if someone can answer..... I never do this, but I feel the necessity to since his music impacted me so much - I read the FAQs on here and saw the addresses to send fan mail. Can someone tell me if those addresses are still valid? I realize the odds of him reading it are slim to null as he is a very busy person, I am sure.... but one has to try, right?

Thank you for reading!

Hi and :welcomeani: And thanks for such a nice introduction!

Yes, the addresses for his management are still valid, and members of

his management team have assured me that they make sure Mika gets

all of his fan mail that's sent to them. Of course, he doesn't often

reply, but you can be sure if you send something that he'll at least get it.

Awesome! Thank you for letting me know! I can definitely understand if he doesn't reply (he is super busy!), and it is probably even hard for him to read them all! I've never done it before, but he impacted my life so much lately, that I felt I ought to at least try!

Thanks again!

Hiya :welcomeani: Love your introduction. I am sorry to hear about your renal disease but I hope you're able to see Mika next time he's in the states. If you think his music is great therapy now, wait until you see/hear him live. Do you think you could make it to Chicago? He tends to play the coasts more than the midwest, but he's likely to go to Chicago again when he tours.

That is where I figured I would go as I live downstate from Chicago. And yes, I head to the suburbs of Chicago for my weekly doctor appointments, in fact I think my car knows how to drive there on auto-pilot! Heading into the city wouldn't be a problem at all for me.

I have read he is awesome live, and I have seen a lot of his live performances on here. I love how he sounds the same live or off his albums. I also love how he makes special versions for his live show, or improvises. It's always awesome to hear!

Thanks for letting me know about Chicago. I am hoping he considers it for one of his stops. :biggrin2:

hi ! and welcome to MFC! :yay:

i'm so glad you found us!

sorry to hear about your illness, i'm happy Mika's music is helping you through it all.

I hope you get to see Mika live :wub2: Though his singing live is as good as on his album, i find that when he is singing live, he takes his song to another level, which is hard to explain. :wub2:

where did you hear about MFC?

Thanks for replying. Such a great welcome from everyone! I am always a lurker at first. lol (So I've actually been here for a bit.)

I can see how Mika takes his live shows to a new level. I love it and know his live shows would be awesome to see! Because of my illness, I tend not to go out much due to fatigue and such. But I would definitely make it for Mika! :biggrin2:

Once I discovered Mika and downloaded all of his songs off of iTunes, I went online looking for his official site.... where I stumbled across MFC. What you guys have done for his sister, among other things, is totally awesome! I was so touched! I follow him on Twitter (have account, but no tweets - tend to lurk) and Facebook as well. He's so talented - I'm a bit obsessed!

Side note - My youngest sister is 17 and finishing her senior year in high school. She's fallen in love with him as well and has been playing the music in her show choir class.... we both think a lot of his songs would make great show choir numbers!
