There have been really a lot of bad mouthing against the MFC on twitter, with no reason whatsoever. This has prevented many new fans from registering here, being victims of some entities who have done their worst to convince them through DM that the MFC is hell.

 

Please point them here, this is the natural home for Mika fans.

 

I love the way he handled this, advising to love and support It's an important message, gentle but powerful words. I really hope this will calm down the situation, it's been going on for a very long time.

I have always been proud to be both a Mika fan and MFCer for the past 6 and a half years. And tonight, with that message, after all the craziness that has been happening over the last few months, that pride has gone through the roof.

I have loved and supported this fanclub since it's inception, and it's been like another family for me. We have our good days and bad, but when it comes down to it we support each other, and protect each other.

I will always love this place, and love Mika for feeling the same way I do, about wanting to protect the fanclub, and his fandom from bullies. I hope people will come here and feel safe, and not let anyone frighten them away with horror stories from people with suspicious agendas.

I've been less on MFC lately because I'm using more my phone lately and MFC is less easy to use on phone although I'm getting better at it it doesn't have a specific software and it's big to handle for a phone browser. But when I have something to share I always come home

I hope Mika 's message helps calm down this very small number of people who say they are fans and act as ennemies which I can not understand because it doesn't make sense

For me being a Mika fan and being an MFCer cannot be separated. I joined MFC about 2 or 3 days after I started being crazy about Mika. And I've never tried to look for somewhere else to go to; I've never ever thought about leaving.

I used to say I'm an MFC fan as much as a Mika fan. I can't believe anybody could have so many bad things to say about MFC or to MFCers, no one deserved that. I hope anybody who has been attacked has now some kind of relief. I think MFC as an entity does.

I finally joined after two years because I decided I would make my own mind, but I'm still so sad that I lost two years of being part of this community because of these people ...

 

 

Unfortunately I must confess that my experience is very similar to yours.

 

Many times I was tempted to become a member of MFC but the rumors and my problems with the language stopped me.

We've had little bits about the craziness on twitter recently, but this just caps it off. I had no idea things were so bad! I concentrate my Mika-fan-ness here and on tumblr, but the stuff on tumblr is a rather small group of people (from my perspective) and definitely a more quiet, picture oriented bunch.

 

Makes me glad I stay away from twitter and such, really. I mean, I hardly ever check Mika's actual twitter anymore. I just get all his updates from this thread.

now I ask you: anytime you see young fans on twitter trying to find their way in the fandom, please, please, point them here.

They will be protected and defended, no way no one can say we bully fans. We have always tried to keep this place safe from troubles, sh!t stirring people, psychos and whakos!

 

Dcdeb is a great admin, always ready to help and find the right solutions to keep the forum safe for everyone.

 

more: if you see someone being nasty to other fans, especially to the ones who stirred all the **** agains the MFC, pls. ask them politey to give up.

From now on, I'm going to congratulate every new member who's joining in.. I really haven't noticed anything..

I just wanna tell you, when I joined in, I was a bit afraid from any anti-semitic reactions because of all the Israel-Lebanon thing, but I was surprised for good, really. You are all so welcoming and sweet, I could not ask for more than that, it's the best place to be, and I'm going to spread it

 

Wow, I was afraid that all the rumors out on the internet might be keeping fans away from MFC, but reading your two concrete examples makes me so sad. I'm SO happy that you both finally decided to make up your own minds about MFC. We are richer for having you here!

Yes, exactly, Robi. Everyone has opinions and sometimes they can be expressed very strongly -- and sometimes there can be heated arguments -- but that is not the same as the bullying that's been going on on Twitter and elsewhere on the internet, with name-calling and endless harassing.

Well for me it wasn't that bad because I was not on Twitter, I only read a few comments on Youtube. But for someone shy that was never a part of any community online, it doesn't take much. I wonder for how many people it is also the case.

I'm so glad Mika did something about the drama going on. I got a bit involoved and i regret it, but at the time i couldn't stand seeing ppl say bad things about MFCers. Of course, i don't always agree with everyone here but i know that's life xD

 

I don't post much because i have trouble expressing myself sensibly (this post is proof of that xD) but i come to MFC to read posts almost every day, usually like 10 times a day . I know MFC has been instrumental in maintaining my level of Mikabsession.

 

Part of why i could no longer standing seeing ppl calling certain MFCers 'nasty' was that i'd actually met a couple of them in person and they were nothing but kind. All the MFCers i've met irl have been wonderful, even if i was too shy to talk to you. And i've chatted with so many great MFCers online who i'd love to meet!

Beyond relieved. It had been going on for too long and we could only defend ourselves to a certain extent.

I have never seen any bullying on MFC. Heated discussions, oh yes. Pranks and jokes, certainly, but bullying, no. Everyone is welcome on MFC, everyone is welcome in the Mika fanclub, but if you have a hidden agenda and stir **** up, this is not the fandom for you.

It has come to my attention over the last few months that some members of my fan community have been behaving badly towards others - call it whatever you want, cyber-bullying, name-calling, internet harassment, being nasty. I have never and will never agree with this conduct. There's nothing I respect more than my fanclub community both at shows and online. I do not condone any act of bullying amongst fans or to members of my team. If you're someone who does that, you're no fan of mine. Therefore I respectfully ask everyone to be friendly and supportive to one another, and if you can't do that then please keep your negativity to yourself. I really appreciate my fans and have enjoyed meeting so many amazing people over the years, you make it all worthwhile. Be good to eachother. M x

Sh*t happens anywhere, you know.

But MFC is one of the greatest fandoms I`ve ever been to, so most mfc-ers can provide necessary moral support to those members who need that. I`m in:wink2:
