 Could anyone please translate what Mika says ? Thank you.

I think in the 1st part he says he has been dreaming about writing a soundtrack since he was 8, because he was watching movies at the cinema and was impressed by the music, and especially the melodies (Ninja Turtles, Spielberg movies, Psycho). Then he talks about how he has started writing for this movie, after Coachella. Something about a playful approach and then, bam, it all started. I think he also says he has been writing French and English songs for his album/s (later the presenter says Mika is currently working on his French album, if I understand it correctly). And then he talks about what music he has listened to as inspiration. West Side Story, Gone with the Wind, Vangelis / Chariots of fire. And something about the intervals in Jaws.

In fact, "The Beginning" reminds me of Vangelis, I definitely can see this influence. And the theme of Gone with the Wind is one of my fave movie themes ever, I haven't noticed a particular reference to it, but maybe that's one of the reasons why I love Mika's soundtrack so much. :wub2:

Now, when he mentioned Jaws and Psycho movies I understand why "Facing The Storm" and "Danger On The Road" gave me goosebumps!

What a pleasure to watch him talking when a journalist doesn't stop him.

His eyes! Like eyes of a child! He is somewhere else when he talks about music.

I get the feeling this won't be his last soundtrack. :cloud: Lovely to see him talking so freely, and that the BO gave him greater musical freedom in his choices. ❤

He's gotta do a musical.

He's iffy with musicals, people bursting into song for no reason... but if it's one that he has artistic control in and that appeals to him then yes, absolutely! I think he said in an interview that, in its original incarnation, he wrote the songs for The Greatest Showman, although that developed in a different way and others took it on.

Maxi

6 Février 2023 (No. 1893)

:uk:

Amazing camel race

« Run Tehu, run Tehu ! » keeps repeating the young Zodi to his dromedary in this pretty fairy tale. The director Éric Barbier signs a beautiful story at the height of a child (the hero is accurately portrayed by the young Yassir Drief) and gives to see a real spectacle full of twists and surprises in the heart of sumptuous desert landscapes. A road movie that immerses us in the little-known world of camel racing in Abu Dhabi, against a background of music by the king of pop Mika.

• Zodi and Téhu, Brothers of the Desert, by Éric Barbier, in theaters February 8.

I didn't know about the Greatest Showman, wow! :-) But about people bursting into song for no reason: A lot of television shows have musical episode(s) and a few of them explain why they're singing (like Scrubs or Once upon a time, but in the last one it wasn't surprising that they're singing). So if Mika wants to explain it, then he can, and that way they won't sing for no reason. :-)

À 13 ans, il joue avec un dromadaire

https://pressreader.com/article/281526525209262

https://pressreader.com/article/281646784293550
