I have two quick questions:

1. The soundtrack was only released digitally, right? Not as a CD?

2. The movie on the other hand is only available on DVD right? Does anybody know if there are any subtitles on that DVD? Amazon only tells me that it's in French, but not if there are subtitles. Even French subtitles would make a difference.

I think @mellody has gotten the DVD if I'm not mistaken?

Thank you! :)

I do, but it has a region code, which wouldn't be a problem if my old PC with the region-free DVD drive hadn't broken down. So in fact I haven't watched it yet. From what I heard tho, there's no subtitles, and it also doesn't say anything about it on the DVD cover.

Also true, soundtrack only digitally, sadly no CD. :emot-sad:

I have the DVD from France.

It's only in French. You can choose a version with subtitles for deaf and people with audition problems. In French.

Thank you very much, that answers my questions!
Was thinking about getting it for my dad for Christmas since we watched the movie in the cinema together last year.

But if it's only in French (even with subtitles) there's not much point. I think I'll take the old-school homemade approach and burn a CD with the soundtrack for him :D

Zodi et Tehu is getting an English release. I repeat an ENGLISH RELEASE!!! :cheer:

According to the website below the film with the full title Zodi et Tehu: Princes of the Desert will be released on 1st February!

https://oman.voxcinemas.com/movies/zodi-and-tehu-princes-of-the-desert

There is a trailer in the link above in English too, really lovely to finally understand something about this film. However, Vox cinemas are only in Arabic speaking countries (Dubai, Oman, UAE) and the film will have Arabic subtitles. I couldn't find any information about whether it will be released elsewhere, if anyone does it will be greatly appreciated!

This is still good news though and makes me more hopeful that it will get released in English speaking countries!

This is amazing news, CJ! It's a little strange that they dubbed English voices and then subtitled it in Arabic, but I'll take it! Thanks for posting! :flowers2:

EDIT: OK, maybe our excitement is a bit premature --  Vox Cinemas is a chain of movie theaters in the Middle East, which will be showing the film.

"With 57 locations totalling 573 screens across the region, including 237 screens in the UAE, 15 screens in Lebanon, 63 screens in Oman, 30 screens in Bahrain, 44 screens in Egypt, 149 screens in Saudi Arabia and 17 screens in Kuwait, VOX Cinemas is the Middle East’s largest and most rapidly growing exhibitor."

Of course, if version of the film exists in English, that means that they may eventually release it in English on DVD, or at least stream it in English-speaking countries, so all hope is not lost.

I found these references to the movie.

https://www.screendaily.com/news/snd-posts-deals-on-the-book-of-wonders-princes-of-the-desert-exclusive/5177875.article?referrer=RSS

"Lamy also stars in Princes Of The Desert that SND has sold to Athena for Benelux, Ascot Elite in Switzerland, Sphere in Canada, Nos Lusomundo in Portugal, Grand Entertainment for the Middle East, ADS for Hungary and Romania, ACME in the Baltics, Foxx Media in Czech Republic and Slovakia, Blitz in the Balkans, ATV in Turkey and Mauris for CIS."

The above was published on the Internet in January 2023.   Looks like the movie will be released in Canada, but another website gave French for the language.

According to this link, the movie will also be distributed in Italy, don't know if in movie theaters or through a streaming service.

https://www.ecfaweb.org/european-childrens-film-network/feature-films/?y=2023&f=3161

Haven't bought the French DVD because I'm still hoping for a DVD in French and English.

(Thanks to @cluppel nathalie for the info!)

We can only hope it will make it across the ocean to us here!

Zodi & Tehu, aventuras en el desierto

Sinopsis

Reparto

Alexandra Lamy, Yassir Drief, Youssef Hajdi, Nadia Benzakour, Said Bey, Amine Ennaji, Pierre Hancisse

Dirección

Eric Barbier

IFMCA Award Nominations 2023

MIKA is in the list of nominees for the 20th annual IFMCA Awards. :thumb_yello:

INTERNATIONAL FILM MUSIC CRITICS ASSOCIATION AWARDS NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

http://filmmusiccritics.org/2024/02/ifmca-award-nominations-2023/

BREAKTHROUGH COMPOSER OF THE YEAR

  • SHERRI CHUNG
  • PAWEŁ LUCEWICZ
  • MICHAEL “MIKA” PENNIMAN JR.
  • ŁUKASZ “L.U.C” ROSTKOWSKI
  • COREY WALLACE

Each year the IFMCA makes special efforts to recognize emerging talent in the film music world, and this year is no exception. The nominees in the Breakthrough Composer of the Year category are a diverse group, spanning continents and styles. American composer Sherri Chung, having spent years writing additional music for numerous WB super-hero TV series, broke out in her own right in 2023 with several projects, the most acclaimed of which was her outstanding music for the HBO Max animated series Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. French composer Michael “Mika” Penniman Jr. successfully made the difficult jump from pop music to film music with his excellent score for the action/adventure Princes of the Desert, and American composer Corey Wallace – who has been writing music for low-budget features and short films for nearly 20 years – finally got his breakout this year with his superb, traditional orchestral adventure score for the tornado disaster movie Supercell.

The International Film Music Critics Association will announce the winners of the 20th IFMCA Awards LIVE on the IFMCA YouTube channel on February 22, 2024.

You're right, it's great that Mika made the shortlist!

For the entries they probably had to use the legal names of the participants. Whoever wrote the announcement apparently doesn't know Mika's nationality. 😄
