In 4 minutes there is going to be a live session on YouTube with Mika premiering Bougez. I don’t know how to link to it here, but if you go to YouTube and put in Mika, it should be the first hit that comes up. It’s due to start in 2 minutes now!

It was only the song Bougez.

For the whole concert see the link below.

Wow! That was quite something! Bougez is one of my least favourite tracks on the new album (for which I stayed up till 2 a.m. Kenyan time last night so that I could download it at midnight French time, then of course I stayed up listening to it!), but it’s amazing the difference it makes when you see Mika singing it rather than just listening to the track!

Yes, that’s why I put it in the Bougez  thread. Thanks for the link to the concert, though!

Tbh, I didn't like the song at first but I have to admit it grew on me a lot and now I'm starting to enjoy it. It's not my favourite one but a really good opener. And I think it will be great live!

I was sceptical when we only had the snippet, but in the full version it's actually one of my fave songs on the album! :lol3: I love this contrast in it, between the spoken words and the dance beats and fast sung parts. And the lyrics are just fun, it doesn't feel as serious as he talks about it in interviews, it's completely exaggerated to a point where it just makes me smile instead of wanting to share the details of what I think about these ads, as I did earlier in this thread. Especially the bridge, with God telling you "you're much lighter now, so you can't sit still" :lmao: Mika has always had this comedian side to him in the stories he told on stage, at least when he's in a good mood ... but in the lyrics I can't think of anything like this so far. So this is perfect! :lol3: :thumb_yello:

I'm studying French again after more than 40 years ( I think you can guess why  :original:) and Bougez is the link I sent to my fellow students and teachers. I love some of the other songs too, like Passager and Je sais que je t'aime.

BOUGEZ

Mes bien-aimés nous sommes ici Pour partager ce qui nous lie
A la télé, à la radio
Vous entendez les mêmes mots

Pour votre santé
Allez-y, faut bouger
Mes bien-aimés
Pour votre santé
Allez-y, faut bouger

Pour votre santé, bougez plus !

Santé, bougez
 Sentez bouger
Sentez bouger
Sentez bouger vos corps !

Santé, bougez
Sentez bouger
 Sentez bouger
Sentez bouger vos cœurs !

Ils veulent encore
Que nous bougions
Même presque morts
Que nous bougions
 Ils eurent souhaité
 Que nous bougeassions
Alors mes bien-aimés
Nous bougerons

Ils veulent encore
Allez-y, faut bouger
 Nous faire bouger

Pour votre santé
Même si nos corps
 Allez-y, faut bouger
Sont épuisés

Pour votre santé
 Ils ne savent même pas
Allez-y, faut bouger
 C'que ça va faire

Pour votre santé
On bougera
Allez-y, faut bouger
Jusqu'en enfer

Pour votre santé, Bougez plus !

Un jour je me suis retrouvé
aux portes du paradis
J'ai vu Dieu me faire entrer
Et voilà c'qu'il m'a dit
T'es pas là pour te reposer
Tu l'as fait toute ta vie
 Maintenant que t'es tout léger
Tu ne resteras pas assis

If I had a workout playlist this song would be at the top! …and at the end… ok let’s be honest, it’d be in the middle too

.

.

.

.

.

Fine, it’d only be this song like 20 times, and by “workout” I’d mean just dancing around my kitchen

I've added the full lyrics to the first post, and to the comprehensive lyrics. On youtube they are shortened. On Spotify they have the full lyrics, but I can't copy them - so I'm using the lyrics @crazyaboutmika posted here (from youtube) and add what's missing.

Here is the Google translation (please feel free to correct it, then I can add it to the comprehensive lyrics):

My beloved ones we are here
To share what binds us
On TV, on the radio
You hear the same words

For your health, go ahead, you have to move
(My beloved ones)
For your health, go ahead, you have to move
(My beloved ones)
For your health, go ahead, you have to move
For your health, go ahead, you have to move

For your health, move (more)!

Get moving
Get moving

Health, move, feel move, feel move, feel your bodies move!
Health, move, feel moving, feel moving, feel your hearts moving!
Health, move, feel move, feel move, feel your bodies move!
Health, move, feel moving, feel moving, feel your hearts moving!

They still want us to move
Even almost dead, let us move
They wanted us to move
So my beloved ones, we will move

For your health (They still want), go ahead, you have to move (to make us move)
For your health (Even if our bodies), go ahead, you have to move (are exhausted)
For your health (They don't even know), go ahead, you have to move (what's it going to do)
For your health (We will move), go ahead, you have to move (all the way to hell)

For your health, Move (more)!

Get moving
Get moving

Health, move, feel move, feel move, feel your bodies move!
Health, move, feel moving, feel moving, feel your hearts moving!
Health, move, feel move, feel move, feel your bodies move!
Health, move, feel moving, feel moving, feel your hearts moving!

Move, move, move, move, move, move in heart
Move, move, move, move, move, move your bodies
Move, move, move, move, move, move in heart
Move, move, move, move, move, move your bodies

One day I found myself at the gates of paradise
I saw God bring me in, and this is what he told me
You're not here to rest, you've been doing it all your life
Now that you're so light, you won't sit still

Health, move, feel move, feel move, feel your bodies move!
Health, move, feel move, feel move, feel your hearts move!
Health, move, feel move, feel move, feel your bodies move!
Health, move, feel move, feel move, feel your hearts move!

Move, move, move, move, move, move in heart
Move, move, move, move, move, move your bodies
Move, move, move, move, move, move in heart
Move, move, move, move, move, move your bodies

Thank you very much for your work Karin :flowers2:  The lyrics I shared are from the booklet in the CD/vinyl.  I have started posting my "human" translations in some threads as I go: sweetie banana, amour pirate, 30 secondes, touche touche, moi, Andy et Paris and I'll keep going.

@mellody

Here is my human translation

MOVE  (from the album Que Ta Tête Fleurisse Toujours)

My beloved
We are here
To share what binds us together
On TV, on the radio
You hear the same words

For your health, go on,  you've got to move
(My beloved)
Pour votre santé, allez-y, faut bouger
(My beloved)
For your health, go on,  you've got to move

For your health, go on,  you've got to move

your health, go on,  you've got to move

For your health, move (more)!

Move
Move

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your bodies move!

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your hearts move!

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your bodies move!

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your hearts move!

They still want us to move
Even almost dead, that we move
They would have wished that
we would have moved
So my beloved, we will move

For your health (They still want), come on, you've got to move (To make us move)
For your health (Even if our bodies)come on, you've got to move (Are exhausted)
For your health (They don't even know) , come on, you've got to move (What its gonna do)
For your health (We will move), come on, you've got to move (All the way to hell)

For your health , Move (more)!

Move
Move

 Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your bodies move!

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your hearts move!

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your bodies move!

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your hearts move!

Move, move, move, move,
move, move all together
Move, move, move, move,
move, move your bodies
 Move, move, move, move,
move, move all together
Move, move, move, move,
move, move your bodies

One day I found myself
at the gates of paradise/heaven
I saw God letting me in
and this is what he told me
You're not here to rest,
You did it all your life
Now that you are extra light
you won't remain seated

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your bodies move!

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your hearts move!

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your bodies move!

Health, move,
feel the move, feel the move
 fell your hearts move!

 Move, move, move, move,
move, move all together
Move, move, move, move,
move, move your bodies
 Move, move, move, move,
move, move all together
Move, move, move, move,
move, move your bodies

Could someone explain this grammatical thing to me about the line

""Que nous bougeassions"?

He's mentioned this in several interviews now and I don't understand. Is this wrong?? Did Mika accidentally conjugate bouger wrongly in the subcontif form? Why did no one correct it? :D

He mentions it in this interview for example at around 3:10:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lYzIQ0Olu4

Ah wait I listened again and now I understand that he was told it was wrong in an interview and asked Valerie Lemercier who found out that it is indeed correct.

So people just think it's funny that a "foreigner" would use grammar constructions like that?!

Is that it?? :sweatdrop:

Yes, that’s how I understood it. I think it’s similar as that I as a not-native-German-speaker use Genetiv a lot, but as you know it’s not used often in speaking at all and people German-speakers find it….endearing :sweatdrop:

I understand from different interviews that it was Valérie Lemercier's idea to conjugate "pour votre santé bougez plus"  and she gave him a list of different exemples

As he was asked if it was a joke he asked her again if it was ok , and it was.

As the song is kind of a parody of some food advertising , maybe the journalist thought that " que nous bougeassions" was parodic too ?

tbh I know " Ils eurent souhaité" but never eared "que nous bougeassions" before

"Ils auraient souhaité que nous bougions" is the most used form imo

I found the entire conjugation of Bouger on the web and it looks like it's the correct form for the  subjonctif imparfait.

I don't know how much French people use the subjonctif in speaking French. In Italy, for example, lots of people don't know it well or don't use it when they should. Often, on social media, Italian people who don't know Mika well write, as a compliment, that he uses the subjonctif better than Italians. And very often it's true

I found the same in my old Bescherelle book, which is the grammar Bible for the French language.

It's the same as for the word "manger". It's

"Que nous mangeassions"

"Que nous bougeassions" for "bouger".

Yeah I looked it up as well!

But makes sense that it sounds a bit ridiculous in a pop song where you normally use colloquial speech like you wouldn't hear the past perfect continuous or something in an English song either :D

That's interesting and now that I think about it he uses it a lot.

I think French people use the subjonctif quite often (it was introduced in my hs course) while we don't use it at all basically in German so I struggle with it in French and Italian.

Anyway I'm getting off topic again, but thank you all for your responses! :)

Ils veulent encore
Que nous bougions
Même presque morts
Que nous bougions
 Ils eurent souhaité
 Que nous bougeassions

Maybe "bougeassions" ( past subjunctive) is used because it's introduced by "ils eurent souhaité," which is a past tense ( don't remember which :D). Google Translator gave me "had wished" as a translation. So could the words be "they had wished/wished we would move"?

Maybe "ils eurent souhaité" was chosen because it had the right number of syllables for the line.
