Official MIKA and MIKA FANCLUB FAQ

Jack - you're awesome!

That's going to be hugely helpful to new members. :thumb_yello:

One thing:

"Mika’s manager, Jerry Blair, is based out of the US and Jerry accompanies Mika while he’s in North America. John is his tour manager and works with Mika in Europe."

John was also present on this last US tour, so he's not a strictly European fixture. :wink2:

Really, Yasmine confirmed it? I haven't heard that, that's pretty cool! If you can link me to where she talked about it, I will add it to the answer right-off.

--Jack

Yup, she did. :thumb_yello: She didn't talk about it though. She just confirmed it when the interviewer doubted Mika hehe.

I see that you've already changed it but I tracked down the interview on youtube anyway. (It wasn't as hard as I'd thought :bleh:)

Mika starts talking about the whole subject at around 3:00 and the "Humphrey, we're leaving" part is at about a minute later.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aScnzu8JM7E

Plus, it's a great interview (of three parts)! :D

well, not much important but I thought it was interesting :bleh:.

wav grace.wav - 0.49MB >>> "humphrey we're leaving" (by Mika's voice)

Wow that's cool! Thanks for that!

JackViolet - awesome piece of work! And the tips about the forums are really helpful, the forum FAQs are a bit too technical.

And is this going to be made available in other languages, for the fans who don't speak English as their first language?

Hey Jack, could you add something about closed threads?

Maybe something like:

Q: Hey, I went to post in my favorite thread and it's closed! What

happened?

A: If it was a really popular thread, it probably was nearing 3000

posts, which is the maximum number of posts we'd like in any one

thread -- too many more than that tends to slow the forum down.

When a moderator sees a thread nearing 3000 posts s/he will close

it and ask the originator or an active poster in the thread to start

a new one, and then will link to it.

Another reason your thread may be closed is if it was a duplicate of

another that was already started.

Finally, your thread may have been closed due to an extreme

circumstance such as arguing or sexual content. Contact a

moderator to determine the reason.

Thanks! :thumb_yello:

OK, more additions/changes:

MikaFanclub FAQ:

Forum Rules:

The MFC is a world-wide community of fans, and as such it is important that we make sure to treat everyone with respect and contribute to an open, comfortable atmosphere for all posters.

This is a very open forum, IMO. But it is moderated in an attempt to

keep everyone civil and create a friendly environment for everyone.

Since we've had a couple requests recently for clearer guidelines on

what is and isn't allowed, I've tried to refine or clarify some of

these points. Not sure if you want to add the info here, Jack,

or make additional Questions/Answers items.

--Hateful language, including but not limited to racist, sexist and/or bigoted speech is prohibited here.

I think that's pretty clear. No putting someone down due to their

religion, sex, race, physical impairment...

-- Personal insults or attacks are also prohibited

Again, pretty clear, right? No mocking someone because of their

appearance, or the way they speak, or the amount of time

they spend on the forum, no calling someone stupid or a moron

just because their opinion is different from yours, that sort of thing...

And no hiding behind saying it was meant as "a joke", or :mf_rosetinted: or white text! Just saying you didn't mean something as an insult doesn't make it any less of one.

-- Posts containing obscene or pornographic material will be deleted

While some may say that obscenity/pornography is subjective -- well,

I guess you'll have to live with what we mods decide. We are a fairly

liberal bunch, but there are some things that simply are inappropriate.

-- avoid swearing, explicit sexual posts, or other content that may be inappropriate

This would include posts that describe a sex act,

or strongly imply one. This

also includes the form of fanfiction known as "slash" -- which would

be sex between a celeb and a fan. As far as swearing -- well, the forum

automatically xxxx out certain words. But there are some that it

doesn't catch, and you may be asked to stop using those words by a

moderator.

Deb--"slash" is fanfic specifically dealing with a male-male romantic relationship, celebrity or not. :wink2: Let's not single that out and just say that we don't don't do sexually explicit fanfic, period.

I think adding these clarifications to the initial post may prove too cumbersome, but I'll link your post. If/when these become official FAQ (ie, ot on the boards but having their own page linked from the MFC homepage), I'm sure deano can code it so that the clarifications show up either when you click on the rules, or when you put your pose over them.

OK... it's hard to spell things out and be concise at the same time :)

For me, at least -- you know, why use 10 words when 100 will do? :wink2:

Here's one good reason... :naughty: I wanted to add your question about threads being closed to the appropriate section but could not... I can no longer add any questions to the post as it stands, I think, because it exceeds the maximum number of characters. Darnit. All the more reason for Deano to give these their own page...

Jack, I've been thinking that there might be need for one more Q, since

you mention the possibility of banning.

Q. What is banning? What is an infraction?

A. If the moderators "ban" a user, that means that user will not be

able post on this forum. A temporary ban means that the user will

not be able to post for a specific period of time -- a permanent ban

is only applied if a user is persistently abusive or otherwise continuously

disregards the forum guidelines.

An infraction is a notice applied to a user's account to denote that

they have somehow violated the forum guidelines. You'll see the infraction

in the user profile, with the reason the infraction was given.

In general, we do not want to ban any members, although spammers and those who post pornography will be immediately banned.

In other situations, here are the general guidelines for issuing a ban.

1. If a user violates the forum guidelines, a moderator first sends a warning via a private message (PM).

2. If the user continues to disregard the warnings, an infraction is placed

against the account.

3. If a user receives three infractions, they will be banned from the

forum temporarily, usually for one week.

4. If, after returning from a temporary ban, a user continues their pattern of negative behavior, they may be permanently banned.

Is this what you mean? :naughty:

Seriously, I think we have to consider that a lot of fans don't have English as their first language, so the FAQs and answers need to be as clear and simple as possible .

Bab's YouTube account has been suspended so the link should be deleted until she has the videos up someplace else.

Thanks to whoever changed the key on the Grace Kelly track...that was great. :thumb_yello:
