MIKA@'Che tempo che fa' Italian tv show-14 DEC. 2013

I suppose the fate wanted me to fill up with endorfins to face the next months. There is no other explanation why I could see him twice in a week, two perfect warm, fog free saturdays, and fun people to share it with me. I'm still waiting for the tricky part.

Well, maybe italian bureaucracy was it, but that was a so little glitch that I'm still waiting for something else.

Anyway, I'll skip the whole trip part this time, even if it was just nicer than the previous one. I enjoyed so much the company and learnt that waisting time eating a sandwich in a crossroad because you presume people won't enjoy too much time with you is silly and make passing-by people think you are a carolina waiting for customers :aah:

So, nice nice travel, then queueing outside Rai studios. For me queueing is still fun, I've just done it twice and the weather was never bad, which meant meeting people, knowing people, talking with people. Which eventually means to deal with my shyness, improving my social skills and confidence, if it goes well. If it goes wrong, it means to deal with frustration and loss of self esteem, but apparently I got lucky and people didn't turn me down. So I met people I already knew, new people and manage to confuse others greeting them as we already met, when it never happend. I'm a mess when it comes to faces and names, i just can remember a few at a time, then I need repetitions to get it.

They let us in with a huge delay, and the "first come, first seat" thing ruled. We were there since a couple of hours or more, but we didn't knew it would be like that, so.....we ended up in the balcony on a side of the studio, behind a camera. Apparently we were supposed to see his back. I was on the edge between the old me, anxious and competitive, and the new me, "have faith". It turned out that the chairs for the guests were not fixed and they would have moved them according to the show needs. So, new me was winning on old me.

Before Mika there were other guests, a classical music piano player, three comedians, and a fair manager. I was sick with boredom and my focus was on that damned chairs, since I could see only the piano player back but perfectly the others' faces.

Eventually they opened the curtains and he was there, sitting on the piano, with his small band. Ok, I couldn't see his face that well. But his voice was everywhere. I could feel it in my chest, it was a kind of living blanket around me. I didn't sing, I didn't move. Maybe I didn't breath, but I suppose I did or I would have dropped dead on Lucrezia's head. No one would ever noticed, everyone was amazed by him. I just wanted to listen. Now, this is a mess. My home has a little furniture, so music sounds pretty crappy and so does it in my car. From that very moment, I'm disappointed by cds. It's so not the same thing. I suppose I have to suck it up and get used to it.

While he was playing and singing he was so into that. I saw some reharsal pic, and I was surprised I committed that much in reharsal too. Anyway, it was such a pleasure to seem him that way. I don't need to describe it, every one of you knows exactly what I mean.

A detail I noticed: while singing and while talking, he always let the audience in with his movements. He does communicate, he involves people, that was so not him just performing for the cameras.

When it comes to the interview, let's say that 1 - he was sitting in front of us, so I could perfectly see him. 2 - he was so witty and amazing and fun, I enjoyed it so so much, as you guess from me willing to translate every word of him.

Some words about the dinner: that was real fun.

I manage to know further fun people and we had the waitress confused about our hatred for risotto.

We asked her to switch the tv on the show and sang along with him from the top of our lungs, for the misfortune of the two strangers customers who were sitting close to us.

We ended up to loose every inhibition about restaurants etiquette and eat our own biscuits (MIKAdo and the ones I bought for him but didn't dare to deliver), which didn't seem to bother the waitress, since I don't know how but some pizza dishes from the party they were having in the other room managed to reach us.

Well, that's pretty much all.

I wish to thank some people, but since I don't know if they want me to do it here, I won't . They know who they are and why.

When it comes to me, I did fill up with endorfins. I don't know how much my fuel will last, it depends on what the future will propose to me. For the moment, on sunday I could cuddle my friend's newborn baby without any sadness or anger, just loving her. Which is a pretty good thing, I swear.

So, it does work.

:naughty: You're right, listening to a CD is never the same once you've heard him live :swoon:

Yes I do know what you mean, but it's always a pleasure to hear it from someone who just heard him sing live for the first time. There's nothing like that moment.

His voice takes you to another world. I'm pretty sure i have a silly grin on my face during an entire gig, but I don't care :shun::aah:

Mika live is purely magical :swoon:

You should get TBWKTM deluxe edition as one the of CDs is live at Saddler's Wells with the Relax version that always makes me cry at the end because it's so beautiful :wub2: I love this live album :

I may or may not have dropped some clues about de luxe editions to hubby... :naughty:

I don't know if it will work, though. He could have already bought christmas presents.....

Yes all performances are like that. It is that communication with the audience that hooks people and keeps them coming back. I actually notice a lot of artists doing it which surprised me because I never felt that in the 1980s when performers were very distant from the audience. Even the same artists I saw in the 1980s are interacting more with their audience now.

So is that a kind of marketing strategy? I thought he enjoyed getting the audience involved and active

No I didn't mean to imply that at all. I think he loves it. I guess now that you mention it he does want people in the front how are excited and in tune with what he is doing...but I wouldn't say that it's for show exactly. I think it creates an energy in the audience, Mika feeds off it and the whole audience feeds off his energy. I love small acoustic shows for obvious reasons but the most exciting shows are that kind of high energy that keeps building between Mika and the audience. It even happened once when we were up in the balcony and dancing like mad and I know Mika saw us at one point. You can feel the connection even from so far away and he has said a few times that Chicago audiences are great because they love to dance. :naughty:

Fifty MFCers (MFCer more, MFCer less) in a tv show.

All together, with a regular invitation.

Sort of event to scary even Lord Voldemort.

When I got the news, the idea of not being at the XF finale on Thursday became suddenly a remote thought to worry about.

Mika finally on that chair, in front of one of the most important anchormen on our TV, the same who will host Sanremo next February, the show where all this began for me.

I knew that he would sing two songs and, knowing the program, have a fifteen minutes chat, more precious to me than three hours of XF, and someone of you know how much I LOVED his Italian experience on that show.

AND we didn’t know yet about the grand piano.

But I was above all thrilled about the opportunity to know so many new fans, and to re-hug old ones, a precious chance to see the faces, smiles and eyes of all the people I chatted with, on FB mostly, but also here.

Because you can write, read, add smileys when you think that your English is too poor to express your inner feelings, but when you see all that happiness “live”, that joy of sharing the same passion, that massive laughter for a “risotto” proposal, well, this is the real sense of all this.

But I really felt this just afterwards.

For the first time I felt that the joy of being together was more important than running outside to see him just for a second.

For me it was a new feeling, I must admit.

After every gig, every XF, every show I could join in the past, I’ve always felt that sudden melancholy, that “when will I see you again”, exclusively referred to Mika.

It didn’t happened to me this time.

Maybe it’s because this time we managed to do a huge teamwork.

The never ending list of Marina and Roberta.

The never ending chats about a suitable Xmas gift.

The never ending list of all MFCers who participated at that gift.

The never ending running and running against kukulakiki time to try to get the gift without arriving late at the meeting point.

The never ending queue, spiced with never ending chats.

The never ending anxiety while trying to give the package to the production staff, in order to deliver it to Mika’s “camerino” (changing room, is it the right word?)

The never ending bunch of hands up for a dinner together.

The never ending chorus while listening on tv, careless of the other customers in the restaurant, who showed now and then In the room with a WTF face.

It was a perfect day, maybe unique, I don’t know.

The fact that I ADORED his acoustic performance and “management” of the interview (because HE managed it) is a pure accident.

awwww Myriam.....:blush-anim-cl:

this is what being a group, part of this fanclub, means.

I've always tried 'to build up a group', with some success and many failures. But this little intense report makes me all happy.

I hope we can have more moments like that, even if it'll be more and more difficult. People come and go, but hopefully we'll stay :naughty:

thank you!

will you post any pic of our sweet present? :wink2:

I finally got a chance to watch the whole thing. He is just too adorable for words.

The performance, wow. From the live stuff that I've seen so far, I'm just amazed by how he can take these songs and make them different and special every time. Nothing prerecorded, just that stunning voice.

And the interview, how cute was that? It just amazes me the way he could take command of a language like that so quickly and confidently, especially with the dyslexia. Through the very kind translation and the little bit of Italian I know,I was able to figure it out. It's so cute when the audience helps him out with words he doesn't know. They clearly love him.

You who were able to be there are SO lucky.

I'm going to be happy all day for having seen that, but angry a the same time because so many people are clueless about how amazing he is. Well, at least I figured it out!

Well. I cannot say Mika to me wasn't important, but I do say the meeting part was fun fun fun. As I wrote, I appreciate the dinner so so much; while queueing I met someone but didn't manage to meet others. During the dinner I found out more interesting people. I enjoyed everthing and everyone for good. Actually, I do admit I miss you guys. I wish we could meet again. As Roberta said, I do hope we'll stay.

Aww, I'm so glad that you had this chance. As you say, twice in a week is amazing luck. I remember back when I first discovered Mika I didn't think I would EVER get to see him in person. I whined and moaned as I saw him going to cities all over the world except to mine. When he finally announced a show here in DC I thought I'd just about died and gone to heaven. And I only had to wait 6 months! I can't imagine how those fans who haven't seen him yet after waiting years and years must feel.

In any case, I'm very happy for you! :yay:

Oh, Valmont, that was an absolutely wonderful report, grazie! :flowers2:

Yes,the little ants are the creatures of an Italian graphic designer, Fabio Vettori, who created his brand long time ago.

I met him when I worked for a radio, nice guy, now he is more famous here.

And yes, that was the choc message.

He received it for sure, mama Penniman was seen with it.

They told me that some of us asked him, he said that he hadn't opened it yet, but he was told that there was a special message from MFC.

Let's just hope that they put it in some safe place in his house in Milan, possibly not near a radiator :naughty:
