And well, I wouldn't hold my breath on him reacting... he didn't react to the last 2 yearbooks, and he never reacted online to Michelles's drawings, tho we all heard what he thinks about them at the M&G. :wub2: Maybe he's just too focused on his work, or too overwhelmed by social media, I don't know.

I can absolutely confidently say that him not reacting on social media fortunately does NOT mean that he 1) didn't receive it, 2) doesn't appreciate it :wub2: When I look at older interviews I think (or actually: we all know this, he has made it very clear :aah:) Mika is not very fond of social media, so I understand completely that he rarely uses that platform to form a response. For us fans, it's unfortunately the only way of "communication" with him, unless of course you see him during a M&G. I think he just values a personal response much more. In the end we all do. They are just very rare, since we don't see him every day!

And then of course, there is also the non-response and the response where he leaves everything open for interpretation :lol3: Like him letting us guess where he is!

So now is the question.. Where is he and what is he doing? We are back at square one! Well not completely square one, there is one festival date where we assume he will turn up. I will just also assume we can expect many more dates in the (near) future. For some reason I think this is the calm before the storm and I'm all for it :thumb_yello:

His relation to social media is still a mystery to me, tbh. There's the one side, that he more or less started his career on myspace and was very active there for a while - and also on Twitter and especially Instagram there are times when he's simply making use of the functions that Social Media offers, sharing things he's working on and things of his life, to stay connected with his existing fans and possibly attract new ones. I mean, that's all it really is, a means of communication to stay in touch in today's fragmented world, and for professionals also a marketing instrument to let the world know about your brand and what you stand for, what people can expect when they invest their time and money in following your work. For example, in 2019/2020 and also up until early this year he really used socials regularly. But then there's the other side, him saying he doesn't like social media. Laura Pausini and Ale Cattellan saying that he never replies to Whatsapp messages. His absence from socials, although, admittedly, even in his quiet times he's still a lot more active on there than he used to be in earlier years, when he stayed away from it for months. And also his own view on his technical skills - see the things he said in London, like he "ruins" our Insta lives. I wonder if that referred to the connection breaking off when he last joined... and well, if he thinks that is because he doesn't understand how to use social media, obviously that would make him like it less. But of course it's not his fault if the connection breaks off or Instagram has some technical issues again. Maybe that's why he used to have the text about the golden donkey on his Twitter, because technics can often be as noncompliant as a donkey, and you need a lot of patience to make it work for you the way you want it. :naughty: Maybe he just doesn't have the patience for that, especially when he's working on his creative projects and maybe also fighting with occasional technical issues in his music software? Then again, being a bit more generous with his likes for things he obviously does like (like Michelle's drawings :biggrin2:) isn't an issue of patience.

Talking about which, he liked MFC's post with the yearbook cover yesterday, so at least he gave a little sign that he's still alive. :thumb_yello:  And I'm happy for @melachithewitch that she got recognition from him this way for her beautiful cover. :wub2:

Btw, another thing I remembered in the context of social media was when he kind of opened his own social media platform on mikasounds.com back in 2009, with the Magic Numbers. Twitter was still new then, and of course when you do your own thing you don't have to deal with the issues of the existing websites - whether it's the technics, or the people who post hurtful things. It was a great idea as such, but it seems they thought the platform would just run on its own without (much) moderation, once it was set up, and of course that wasn't the case (well, even Elon Musk seems to think the same about Twitter, so they are in illustrious company now with that mistake! :teehee:). For example, people left hundreds of useless comments or uploaded a lot of pictures they found on the internet, to get more Magic Numbers - and there was no function to report these things (or maybe there was but no one took care of looking through the reports). And that was just one of many issues. Idk, maybe they just ran out of money to have someone properly take care of the platform. But that was just another example of why his relation to social media is confusing to me - like, he has such great ideas and could do so much with the internet, and at times he seems to see that himself, but at other times it seems like he just doesn't care at all about these possibilities, for whichever reason.

I think you kinda answered your own question there! He has great ideas but executing them is really difficult on the internet which I imagine is very frustrating for someone who describes himself as a perfectionist.

And I think he has an ambivalent relationship to social media, like most of us. I feel like he does enjoy being able to share things when he feels like it but at the same time he is a rather private person and might be scared of oversharing? It must be nerve wracking to have thousands of people comment on everything you do, even if they're mostly nice comments. Not to mention that "communicating" on social media is a minefield anyway and things can so easily be misunderstood. So he'd probably much rather talk to people and comment on their work in real life but I definitely agree that it doesn't mean he doesn't see it or appreciate it :)

I mean, I get that, not everyone's social life takes place mostly on the internet, as it's probably the case for me (apart from my family, whom I see every day) :teehee: - but still, if you want to stay connected with people, isn't it much better to do it online than not do it at all, for looooong periods of time? And well, as we saw last week, there's also downsides to the personal contact with fans - human interaction is always human, and not perfect, on- or offline.

But you know, I think I found the real truth in a random Instagram post today, as Mika sometimes says he feels like a superhero on stage, there's that other side to a superhero... :naughty: :glasses3:

Deb sent the electronic version to Mika's team at his birthday. We still don't know if he ever read it.

This time Vicki brought papers to give them to Mika directly. But Deb gave the package to his assistant. I don't know if it was Geraldine or someone else. So let's see if Mika reacts this time.

I gave the zoo packet to Mika's personal assistant, not Geraldine. I didn't get to give it to Mika directly because after he spent so much time going through the yearbook, and doing the Be Real, and chatting with everyone, he was starting to leave, people were crowding around him, and I was afraid they were going to go without me even getting the packet to anyone at all.

I'm sure that she gave the packet to Mika after - she knew exactly what it was as we had spoken about it earlier in the day. But the chances of actually getting any comment on it? Slim to none, I'd say. You know the saying, "You can't have everything."

This was really so sweet. He truly keeps the gifts he receives. Even uses them! Those must’ve screamed out of pure surprise and joy when they saw the IG story with the apron :cheer:

Did you guess the size based on Mika's height? And how did you manage to get the slippers to hom?

Back then we used to have a fanmail adress you could send gifts and letters to Mika. At some point he changed his agent and since then we have no more fanmail address for him

I asked a fan ( she gave self-illustrated CONVERSE to Mika ) and sent via Air Mail to his London management office.

This is the package for the gift. https://www.instagram.com/p/CjYw2LxvGoD/

Here is an old interview in June 2012.

Please read it's very interesting about fan-mails and presents.

In this interview Mika mentioned my gift ( 500 folding cranes ) at Tokyo in 2010.

"once I got 10 000 folded paperbird..."

It's ready !! Sorry for my bad English and there might be mistakes too !!!

„On the stage, I’ve been thrown by many bras and condom packs.“ Says popstaar Mika about his fans. Mika will give a concert again in Estonia next Thursday.

„Once someone took a bunch of naked pictures and made a book of them and threw it to the stage“, remembers mika. „It looked so innocent that I took it with me and put it on my dressing room table. There were many fan letters so I couldn’t have time to open the book. Of course my mom came there, looked the letters and found the book.“ Mika laugus:“36 pages of pornographic pics. She looked at them at she was pretty startled.“ One time audience decided to surprise Mika during „Lollipop“ with throwing lollipops to the stage. „It sounds sweet, but reality is that, lollipop is a hard candy on a stick and it someone throws you with a lollipop from 10 metres, it’s not really nice“, admits Mika, so he asked fans to stop throwing them. „And once (Mika underlines word „once“), when I threw lollipop back to the crowd, it flew into an eye of a girl!“ sighs Mika. „They took the kid away quickly, she missed big part of the concert and finally her dad wanted to sue me. Then I though, f*ck those lollipops, they only bring back luck.“

„A boy sent a long letter, why he hates his sister“

Fans, also fanletter and –gifts are very important to Mika. „I get Everything for gifts: once I got 10 000 folded paperbird, then I got a camera. One girl was obsessed with me that I had to take it,“ remembers Stinger and says that the price of the gift is not important to him, important is that the gift or a letter would touch him. Touching letters are ones which make Make to react. „I answer to lettrs, but not all of them. We used to thank for letters before but now we can’t do it anymore. Too many of them. From time to time I get fanletters which are very touching. For example once a young girl from the UK sent me a letter how she fell down from the swing and is paralyzed now. I sent her a video,“ says Mika.

„A 9-year old boy sent me a long letter of why he hates his sister,“ laughs Stinger. „And then I thought why he would sendi t to me, it’s not my business but in some reason he thought it is.“ Mika says that he’ll get letters from fans in age 25-91. „It’s amazing ’cause if someone does something like that, it reminds me that the music and things I do and create, traavel very far and this inspires me.“ Some times Mika has surprised his fans with visiting them. „But if I do something like this, then I ask to keep it a secret ’cause I’m not doing it to advertise myself.“

„Once, someone wanted to rob my dog.“

„Fans don’t have to be afraid of that I’m throwing their letters and gifts away. We have storage for them,“ says Mika. „It’s full of every kind of things what people have made – there are dolls, sculptures, paintings, letters, books,“ he counts. „By the way, that storage was a suitcase in the beginning. Then it was a closet where I kept things and in last 5 years i have got so many things that storage is same big as a apartment with one bedroom.“ Not all Mika fans are with good personality. „I have had some not so nice experiences.. – I’ve been threatened and people have hidden themselves near to my house,“ he says.

„Once, someone wanted to rob my dog. It’s the weirdest thing in the world – why would someone want to rob a dog?!“, wonders Mika, admitting he doesn’t take some extreme incidents seriously. „I believe that those people just need help.“

„I hope that Estonian fans surprise me again!“

„When you stend on the stage and during some song thousands of people blow bubbles, you’ll remember it for the rest of your life. Since I do one concert arter another, then fans are doing those kind of things for me to remember the concert. And it helps! I hope that something like that will happen again!“, says Mika , who’ll perform on 5th of July at Õllesummer and he hopes that this time fans will do something that amazing like it was the bubble blowing two years ago.

When Mika performed in 2010, then it was one fan’s idea on the internet to take bubbleblowers to the concert to blow those during „Happy ending“. „When people do something like that it means a lot to me,“ says Mika. „Couple of yeas ago I had a concert where people threw about 2000 paperplanes to the air and at the ohter concert about 3000 people started suddenly to throw toilet paper rolls towards the stage.“, says mika about his brighter fan actions. „These kind of moments are very special and sweet.“

Coming back to Mika's accident with his finger. In London when Mika was looking over the yearbook I spotted small scares on the tip of his finger. I don't know if it was stitches marks or the wound marks. As he explained during the Live he was bleeding a lot, so it was not a simple pinch but a real wound. Hopefully it ended up only like this. For a pianist hands are a tool!

And it looked like his nail was covered with the nail polish, which partially covered the black marks.

image.thumb.png.e74c4ef663e92efc13777a02c4048adc.png

It's not well seen on my video. I was too far.

But for a while I was observing his hand and not his face.

Well, in general I am obsessed with people's hands.

But this time I felt the pain in my nervous system when I spotted the scars

And another funny observation: the way he is holding his mobil - with his little finger only!!!!!

He was unwrapping the yearbook holding his mobile like this!!!!!!!!!

And you know what? I tried to do the same...

And it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A new way of holding the mobil with a little finger - MIKAMOBILING :lol3:

I feel sad about his finger and I hope he can use it well now but I can relate to holding my phone that way which is a bad thing because it usually ends with a fall and a broken phone  Maybe he has back up phones like me? So handy when they die on you....like mine did a week ago :aah:

It's a musical created 40 years ago. Many songs from it have become hits and have been covered very often.

I saw it when many years ago and have the DVD. It's fabulous! Some songs like "Le monde est stone" (The world is stone) have become famous. Another excellent and very moving song is "La chanson de Ziggi", a song about homosexuality.
