It was back in April 2013 at the Sixth and I Synagogue here in DC. Very small gig, intimate, and we were seated right near the stage, which was elevated fairly high. First he tried singing Lola, which went off well, to put it mildly.

 

 

Then, emboldened by that, he sang Stardust off-mic a few seconds later. I think I held my breath through the entire song, it was so magical. We could just feel his voice gently raining down on us, washing over us... we couldn't believe how amazing it was to actually hear his voice, unfiltered, not enhanced by any microphone or special effects. It was unbelievable

 

 

It was much later, months or maybe even a few years, before he started singing the end of Happy Ending off-mic -- I don't remember the first time he tried that.

 

Anyway... when @holdingyourdrink mentioned hearing his voice up close, that triggered a memory, so I just wanted to share those videos for those who hadn't seen them yet.

Oh wow... this is the sort of gig I'm made for. 🥰 TBH the gigantic seated stadium show experience, while exciting to go through for my first live concert with Mika, was also both over- and underwhelming for me, and I understand now why fans tend to queue up for so long ahead of time!

 

I'm especially happy to hear these two songs sung live, as Lola was probably one of my favorites from that album, and Stardust was not (mostly because of all the extra production layered on top of Mika's voice). The contrast of hearing them sung with minimal accompaniment, audience participation, and up close, is simply magical.

 

With magic being a temperamental thing dependent on all the right factors aligning, it's possible that I may never be lucky enough to experience a gig of this nature. BUT... thank goodness for recordings like this one, and long-standing fans to remind us of them. 🥹

You never know with Mika. At some point a similar project might take place  It all comes down to finding the money but he is good finding sponsors and he has no given up on this idea I'm sure. Or maybe he will do only the more intimate gigs part of it and those are always the best

I agree, small intimate venues are heaven! And that was supposed to be the most exciting part of the Magic Piano tour for me. I thought the big arenas would be as always, the regular shows that we were used to and nothing more ... until I've seen the Verona show and I realized what  a spectacular experience he was planning for us!  

 

I really hope he will get the opportunity to made it one day, my feeling is that he didn't give up on this

Antes de conocer a la estrella del pop, conozco a la hermana mayor de la estrella del pop. Comparten una buena estructura ósea, ojos muy abiertos y un acento inubicable: una especie de escuela pública del Atlántico medio infundida con vino francés e incienso árabe. Ambos son multilingües.

 

 

Su padre es un banquero estadounidense que trabaja principalmente en el Golfo. Su madre es una diseñadora de ropa libanesa. Ellos y sus tres hermanos nacieron en Beirut y se criaron en París, antes de que todos se instalaran en Londres hace 14 años.

It's apparently a recording for The Voice, with an audience - I'd hope that if he had performed FLF there, they'd have let us know... it certainly would've been a more intimate chance to see him perform it than at the Zénith (IF he even performs it there). Does anyone know when this recording will be aired?

Ah ok thanks. So unless they're just filming a little trailer for next week's show in between, it must be for something else. Likely promo for Mika's music? Or will he be doing The Voice again? I hope not...

 

Seems Mika got so used to us finding out everything that he doesn't bother telling us anything. 😅 Just wait, his French album will be released this Friday and we'll only hear about it when it enters the charts on Monday, without any advance promo.

There are some new rules this year.

 

One of them is that during the battles the coach will be sitting in the middle of the stage.

So it looks like on this sofa we can see on the video.

At their side, we will find Zazie, Vianney and Amel Bent. "It's nice to come back, we're sleeping with a lot of benevolence" Zazie also confided during the press conference. For his part, Vianney said: "I feel at home with the coaches and the production. I have created real friendships. Besides, it's never the same thing every year. The talents make everything is renewed." This year, however, there will be no fifth coach as with Nolwenn Leroy in 2022. The reason? "There were already a lot of coaches...maybe another season. We don't want to put up barriers." explained Pascal Guix, artistic producer of the program. On the other hand, a surprise coach is planned! During the "super cross battles" stage, a super coach will indeed come to help the public decide between the talents.

 

The Voice 2023: a world premiere and transformed Battles
Big new features are planned for season 12. The first, Télé Star already told you about it, it is the “super block”. Overall, it will allow coaches to block each other, even after the end of a service. For the first time in the history of The Voice, coaches will be able to block one of their comrades at any time. Indeed, from the start of a talent's performance to their choice of coach, each of the artists will have the possibility of turning over a chair by pressing the 'block' button. For example, a coach can block another before the latter has turned around but also after! In this case, the red chair of the blocked coach turns around again and therefore has its back to the talent, thus no longer being able to speak to him.

 

But that's not all: the "cross Battles" stage has also been completely redesigned! Indeed, unlike previous editions, each coach will be totally immersed in their battle.
He will no longer be installed next to his teammates but near his talents, "in the center of the stage". But that's not all: the "cross Battles" stage has also been completely redesigned! Just you.  I was thinking how relaxed and sexy he looked. Big surprise. 

He has history of feet on furniture. Sitting on the piano with his bare feet on the keyboard, standing on the piano, using his feet to hit the buzzer on The Voice, standing on and running across the red chairs, jumping on a sofa in his flat while waving a hosepipe around , curling his toes on the corner of the kitchen table (totally adorable). Furniture is just another dimension for him. At least he has the excuse that this was a directed recording.

Ah thanks. So it's possible that Mika is this "super coach" and helping them for 1 or 2 shows.

Same. And that I love his outfit but also that his hair looks shorter but it's hard to tell from a distance.

His shoes are so white, they might just be for the studio indoors - in any case they look like they're at least as clean as that couch, if not cleaner!
