IN THE NEWS Sunday, 04 Mar 2007 19:43 Any aspirations comeback kids Take That may have of sticking around for just that bit longer have been helped by their single Shine climbing to the top of the UK chart. Fresh from last month's Brit awards success; the Manchester foursome's second single release from album Beautiful World displaces Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs at number one. But the Kaisers can at least take comfort from their blockbusting new album Yours Truly Angry Mob debuting at number one, which kicks Amy Winehouse's Back to Black into third. Different as they are, the charts are dominated by Take That and the Kaisers, with the reformed boyband occup…

I have just listening an interview of Mika on a french radio (Le Mouv'). You can download it here: http://radiofrance-podcast.net/podcast/rss_10254.xml To sum up it briefly, he says that it is important for him to write an album on his life. He does not like those who wait 5 or 10 years in order to write their album. Therefore he had fixed two years to create his album. In this album, he tells what he has lived from his childhood to now: his joys, his sadder moments.

8 March 2007 MIKA Hello again! Well, getting a double top with both single and album has been fantastic and we have you to thank in helping Mika achieve this, however, time and tide wait for no man and there is more, much more, to do! Starting with… US AOL Breakers OL Music are running a ‘Breakers’ competition for 12 emerging artists that are poised to break through this ear in the US. There are four Breaker categories with three candidates in each. Mika is part of the ‘As heard on TV’ section – thanks to his exposure on MTV – and is up against stiff competition in the shape of Corbin Bleu and Young Love…

On Mika's french site : Mikalife.fr There is a new interview of Mika in french, in the Video section. Actually it's not a video, only an audiotrack with pictures of him. Basically he only traduces what we all know about him, his history (beirut-paris-london,...). One new thing, he says that it would be an honour for him, a bit like a mission, to be successful in France, since it is the country of his childhood. So obviously this interview is old, because he is already very successful in France! He also says that he loves Paris. There is also a great video interview in english under the name "L'interview exclusive en VO". Have a good night in cartoon motion Lylemm…

Mika - Life in Cartoon Motion 07 March 2007 WEB EDITORIAL - webdesk@herts24.co.uk THIS is the debut album from Beirut-born, London-based singer-songwriter, Mika, whose music attracted a quarter of a million listeners on MySpace in just four months. His sound is flamboyant, funky and quirky, which is why he has been described as a one-man Scissor Sisters and has also drawn comparisons with Freddie Mercury. His first single Grace Kelly took the nation by storm topping the charts and introducing an almost theatrical tone into the mainstream music. Other songs on the album can be described as Bee Gees meet Village People in a cheesy and upbeat way. This is an a…

Mika, Living in Cartoon Motion POPJOURNALISM.CA - Toronto, ON. Canada REVIEWED BY ROBERT BALLANTYNE, POSTED ON MARCH 6, 2007 4/5 Eclectic in a good way, Mika's debut opens with the infectious lead single, "Grace Kelly," a sarcastically sunny slice of disco-pop. Surprisingly, Life in Cartoon Motion is as consistently good as that single  a one-hit wonder he's not. Still, Cartoon Motion is front-loaded, as the first four tracks are the best, including the aforementioned "Kelly," "Lollipop," "My Interpretation" and "Love Today." Hilariously, Mika delivers his radio-friendly falsetto pop with a knowing insincerity, which works, ironically, whether you're …

Let's share the best of Mika on Youtube.com These are two absolutely wonderful parts of Mika on a French TV programme called Taratata. He's really incredible, tuneful and sweet. THE STAR, MALAYSIA By Jason Cheah 5 March 2007 Mika: Life in Cartoon Motion (Universal) Lebanese-born, London-based Mika Penniman is one of the singer-songwriters to watch this year. With a debut commercial chart topper in Grace Kelly, not to mention some underground download hits and limited edition 7-inch vinyls with Relax, Take it Easy and Billy Brown last year, the over-the-top grooves from this young man are bound to smash current boundaries of pop music. Debut album Life in Cartoon Motion has already generated opposing views among critics, whether it's genius songwriting or downright diabolical glam trash. Mika the enigma is anything but boring. …

Just thought id let you know if you didn't that i suspect there will be an interview coming up in Vanity Fair, (not a magazine i read funnily enough) Me and my mate had arrived early in Newcastle on Saturday went for bite to eat and then thought, ahh well go for a drink in the union bar before the concert, only we didn't know where it was, We found the uni alright and then couldnt find the union, looking at a map we thought we worked it out, and then a Guy rather fashionably dressed came over and asked where the Union was, we obviously looked like students, so we took him to the place that we were heading. About 1/4 of a mile away we found ourselves in some deser…

Mika - Review In Aprils Q magazine Re-Recorded @ Yahoo UK HTTP.//UK.MUSIC.YAHOO.COM Twenty three year old Mika Penniman is a an astonishing talent. This live session , recorded at noted London Jazz Ronnie Scott's , blows the frequency made to comparisons Scissor Sisters out of the water and demands instead that he upgraded to Elton John's heir apparent. In lesser hands , Billy Brown (in which a wife loses her husband to another man) could be irratingly camp , but Mika brushes aside such objectives with the skill of a young Freddie Mercury.A cover of Fred Neil's Everbody's Takin' and his own My Interpretation are hugely impressive, but its his number 1 single Gra…

DIGITAL SPY Saturday, March 3 2007, 09:15 GMT By Daniel Kilkelly Mika's Grace Kelly is at the top of the Irish singles chart for a fifth week. Take That and Fray moved up into the top three this week with Shine and How To Save A Life respectively, while Gwen Stefani's The Sweet Escape also climbed up the chart. Just Jack's Starz In Their Eyes fell three places to number seven, and Jojo's Too Little Too Late dropped six positions. Cascada debuted at number ten with Miracle. Take That have knocked Snow Patrol from the top of the album chart with Beautiful World, which is followed by the Kaiser Chiefs' Yours Truly, Angry Mob at number two and Nelly Furtado's Lo…

The incredible MikaFeb 26 2007 By The Evening Chronicle Watching Mika perform his hour-long set at Northumbria Union was like spending an hour skipping down the Yellow Brick Road. Brimming with colour and creativity, and with a lady dressed-up as a doll handing out lollipops, this made for one of the years most fun gigs. Surprisingly, unlike a lot of the other popular music at the moment, there is barely a low, melancholic note to be heard in Mika's set. Whether you like his music or not, there is no denying this braces-wearing exceptionally tall young man has an incredible voice. Belting out songs including Grace Kelly, Lollipop, Love …

THE EXAMINER Entertainment Tom Lanham, The Examiner Mar 2, 2007 SAN FRANCISCO - The obvious: One of the most charming, delightful and altogether sunniest singles in ages belongs to a 23-year-old, Beirut-born Londoner named Mica Penniman, who performs under the moniker Mika. Already a No. 1 hit overseas, “Grace Kelly†melds barrelhouse piano and a campy vaudevillian melody with the singer’s soaring Freddie Mercury acrobatics (even name-checking Mercury in the lyrics), and frappes it all into the most sugary confection on the air waves. But the truth behind the track is anything but sweet. The path from Lebanon to “Life in Cartoon…

Mika, Koko 4/5 V is for victory - and for virtuoso By Elisa Bray Published: 01 March 2007 It's hard to believe that Mika's London performances amount to three tiny gigs, including a 30-minute set at gay club night Popstarz. Tonight, the natural born performer is greeted as a true pop star. The 23-year-old's debut album Life in Cartoon Motion, No 1 in the UK chart since it was released early last month, has gone platinum. Beirut-born Mika calls his music "psychopop" and from the moment he runs on stage grinning to"Relax", his energy is unstoppable. Mika's music is a blend of Freddie Mercury, Elton John and Scissor Sisters, and befitting the glam-pop i…
