Alireine
About this problem that some magazines can't survive as a printed version, I think it's something that we can find in many countries. In France we are lucky that the magazines section in shops is huge, as French people love to read magazines (more than daily newspapers, there are the ones having the biggest problems here), but I think that most of them are facing the same risks, especially the "uncommon" one like XL La Republica for Italy. A few years ago, a new French magazine was created (printed version), which was very courageous knowing the general situation. Its name is "XXI" and it deals with politic, society, arts, but with long and very well documented articles. They choose to make it only 4 times a year, with almost 200 pages so actually it's more like a book. The price is high, 15 euros, but it seems to be working quite well as it still exists. I personaly bought a few editions of it. It seems to me that this XL Magazine La Republica could do such a thing. Magazines need to find a new way for continuing being published and printed, but I think there are still many people interested in having printed magazines on their hands. Sephira, yes, it's so great that Taratata could be saved, even if only on the web for now

Julia Welcomes
If XL is closed soon, I guess it won`t have English versions of articles, even online... I got used to these articles, this is what I`m interested in apart from his music, so I hope Mika will find some other magazine deserving his writing talents)

Mika is writing his column in English, then it's translated in Italian.Well,if he'll still continue his collaboration with them,of course @DoReMi : That's what I did first, after reading Deb's translation This swatchnet hunt can be very obsessive Edited November 2, 2013 by krysady

kreacher
whoa, i completely missed this month's column love the article, interesting topic. i totally agree with all he says. plus the "you're breaking my balls" bit made me lol so hard. Thank you for the translation Deb!!! Call me oldfashioned, for I am. Apart from total disappearance of XL or Jack - the ones for anticomformity, Mika talks about value \ importance of physical things that shouldn`t be replaced with their e-versions. Magazines, artworks, paintings, books - they represent material world inseparable from its cultural component. I prefer to possess real books instead of e-books, so I can take them, feel their smell, shake dust from their covers, etc. (It doesn`t mean I deny online reading, e-books, etc... They are intended for our comfort, undoubtedly). But disappearance of physical versions, like XL, might impoverish our life and its diversity. Sometimes you just need to feel joy of having something in your hands i completely agree also, seeing a pic online (no matter the image quality) is nowhere near as good as seeing a big color photo in a magazine or book. as for magazines, i used to buy a ton & still have them. Whenever i discover a new band or something i love going back through them all and searching for bits about them (yeah i did it for Mika xD ) There's just something special about the hunt that you can't get online. i wish i could still afford to buy them often :/ We'll have a new Mika column this month! this is good news, i can't wait to read it. thanks! mer
:old:i´m competency to Amazon i´m a post client. He's certainly going out with a bang. I like it a lot. He doesn't sugar-coat his disgust about the fact that a magazine as diverse as XL, that doesn't exploit men and women, in the sexual sense, is going under.I think it's a mark of our sad society, that often, sex is what sells mags, and I admire Mika for speaking out. Thanks for the translation i like your comment but i don´t think so... i think that this society is every time better and better...so i think that 20 years ago i read play boy and francaise magaxzine and 40 years ago ; i read them too but without colours or al pictures but... about sex all my life never i thougt nothing like you now are thinking you(are Diplodocus of age IRON..) anly i enjoy about sex... and the theatre of the life of magazines of course for my i nmy early age i could think the best of the reviews and the artist of porn more of them comics were for me HEROES OF SEX.. tHKS FOR README NOW.. i see you like i´m feeling with all very 1ºtop sms Edited December 3, 2013 by mer

Yes, might be that - but we already know that story - he was so in love, and ready to "take off" by happiness - something he also really does, when performing this supersong live on stage YES, a collector's item - what a fab. idea!! Maybe you, the mods, can ask him about such a souvenir for all his fans here, as a symbol - I feel we're always in lack of money - for seeing him as much as possible, cause he's in everywhere - "in this good damned world" ...
