i was browsing through various sites and amongst other things came accross this: I think it is so positive and short and bubbly, it made me laugh... He gave 4/5 which is great! Mika: 'Love Today' Released on Monday, April 16 2007 By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter Is there any point even attempting to criticise Mika at the moment? His Life In Cartoon Motion album's already topped the charts; 'Grace Kelly' is still dominating the airwaves like the love-child of Chris Evans and Russell Brand and last time a critic took a pop at the Lebanese upstart, guess what happened? Brian May stepped in to call the sceptical scribe a "nasty, grubby, spotty, un…

hi there ! I found this great interview, where he says he loves RufusW, and where he talks about bodies without organs and about big brother ! It think it's cool ! here's the link => http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a37640/mika.html here are quotes : if you listen to a mixtape of mine it'll have Shostakovich and then some Hot Chip, or something. It goes really well together, it's different forms of the same thing. What's your USP? Do you think you have one? "I think that I've definitely stuck to my guns all my life in terms of what my interpretation of what pop music should be. I've never thought of selling points - if I had, I'd probably not even hav…

Another college newspaper review -- I like the description of Mika as a "big wad of bubblegum... fresh and juicy" Mika Life in Cartoon Motion Casablanca Music, LLC Rating: 4 With tight pants, dark curly locks, white sneakers and swaying hips, Mika might not cause a craze as Elvis Presley did, but he will make listeners want to get up and dance on a post-candy sugar high. The young Lebanese-born and British-raised singer/songwriter's debut album, Life in Cartoon Motion, is no doubt a very animated 12-track set. Rather than declaring Mika as pop, as in popular, he resembles the actual word onomatopoeically, with his lively and energetic aura that is ca…

On brighter news, Mika's stellar CD, Life In Cartoon Motion, had a solid first week bow in America, moving 29,000 records - good enough for a Top 30 debut. woohoo! It's not that bad! info (warning:Perezhilton)

X-PRESS ONLINE, AUSTRALIA Living MIKA Life In Cartoon Motion Universal Music By ROBERT PENNEY April 4, 2007 02:27 PM Try as you may; it’s near impossible to sit through Life In Cartoon Motion without being reminded of the helium falsetto of Scissor Sisters’ frontman Jake Shears. Okay, admittedly the Sisters borrow heavily from Elton John, The Bee Gees and the like, but the musical influences of London-based, Lebanese-born Mika can often seem a little too obvious. The 23-year-old seemingly wrote the kitsch, bass-driven Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) with Freddie Mercury in mind, even down to isolating his vocals during the intro, àla Fat Bo…

Yes I cut it outta a library magazine shhh but anyways I'll type it out. Its from the April Elle Magazine. Artful Crasher From Beirut to center stage, wunderkind Mika draws himself into the spotlight. Just a few years ago, newly minted Britpop sensation Mika was a hazel-eyed cater-waiter with steely ambition. One evening, instead of passing cocktails, he blagged his way into a music industry bash and hijacked the stage, performing five of his own songs. He chalks up the move to "confidence or delirium. Both in equal measure, probably." These days, Mika doesn't need to crash parties. "I'm welcome now, which is far less fun," he says, laughing. He topped the Brit…

JUST FOUND THIS FOR YOU SOUTHENERS!! Mika in-store performance 24 April 04/04/2007 Mika will be making an in-store performance at HMV Oxford Street on Tuesday 24 April to help mark the release of new single 'Love Today'. The time of the appearance will probably be around 5.30/6.00pm although this will be confirmed nearer the time. As Mika's in-store performances tend to be very popular affairs, we advise anyone intending to go to get there as early as possible to avoid possible disappointment. In the meantime, have a wonderful Easter! Love Mikasounds I am too good to you all!! xx

The Recorder - Central Connecticut State University April 4, 2007 Album: Mika: Life In Cartoon Motion By Ted Ancher,Staff Writer Possibly one of the greatest musical acts of the 21st century has emerged out of London. Mika’s debut album Life in Cartoon Motion is what music has been waiting for. His style is a bit flamboyant, but it only makes the songs and the playful lyrics more interesting and inspiring. His first single “Grace Kelly†hit the top spot in the British charts for five weeks, however due to being relatively unknown in the States, “Grace Kelly†peaked at #76 here. Though this track is one of the best on the album…

24dash.com Published: 02/04/2007 - 10:07:07 AM Critic Rating How does one go about creating a ‘record’ like this one? How do you compose a record in which nothing happens? MIKA knows, and knows well. This is mediocrity of the highest order – effortless nothingness. The criminally mendacious press release that accompanied this ooze made the shocking claim that it is a ‘blast of pure pop energy’, which absolutely had to have been written through teary eyes and huge duress. MIKA, on this evidence, is anti-music. MIKA’s ‘sound’ reminds me somewhat of mid-90s soporific specialist, D:Ream, a fellow p…

Samesame.com.au, By Tim D, 3rd April, 2007 Nothing official has been confirmed as yet, but today we were given our biggest hint yet that Mika is making his way to Australia in the next few months, most likely for the Splendour in the Grass Festival. The big hint? The delicious pop star has just been added to the line-up for the Fuji Rock Festival to be held in Japan on the 27th to the 29th of July this year. The Splendour in the Grass Festival in Byron Bay is on the following weekend, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of August, and traditionally Fuji Rock and Splendour share the same artists given their close timings. It’s all starting to fall into pl…

Pop singer Mika decks out his concert venues with balloons, confetti, clowns and all things reminiscent of a 6-year-old's birthday party. "What I try to do is take reality and just hype it up to a level where it makes it more livable," explains the 23-year-old newcomer who exploded onto the music scene earlier this year. Tall and lanky, Mika wears a bright orange hooded sweatshirt and his long curly hair sways in every direction as he talks about his debut album, Life in Cartoon Motion, which entered Canada's SoundScan charts at number 2. Helped by massive hype and reviews comparing him to legends Elton John, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, Mika has already l…

By: Donnie Branscum, U-Wire Issue date: 4/3/07 Section: Tempo STILLWATER, Okla. - The British invasion is back as Mika entices music lovers with his debut, "Life in Cartoon Motion," which has already become a number one album in the United Kingdom. The album is an eloquent blend of energetic, '80s power-pop arrangements and Mika's operatic Freddie Mercury-like falsetto. It's one of the most refreshing albums I've experienced this year, and Mika's tumultuous talent will hopefully add some artistic credibility to the realm of pop music, which has seemed a little bleak this year. His most recent single, "Grace Kelly," has already received heavy acclaim fr…

This is mostly just a photo from last night's performance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno -- silly caption, but the photo is good -- didn't want to post the photo here, as I'm unclear as to whether that's what the mods prefer, or would rather have them in the Pics section of the site...? In any case: http://www.metro.co.uk/fame/article.html?in_article_id=42991&in_page_id=7 dcdeb
